Chapter 25
Monty could hear every word. Leaning back against the double doors he had just slammed, the alligator animatronic could hear Freddy's gentle voice. The giant himbo bear was comforting the children, just like he always does. He was that kind of animatronic after all, and so was Chica and Roxanne and Sundrop and DJ Music Man sort of. Even Moondrop when he was in a good mood. But Monty? Oh no, no one would even come close to him.
"What is wrong with him?" Roxy muttered. Listening quietly, Monty closed his eyes as Freddy answered, "I was hoping you might tell me. You're his big sister." There was a snort before the wolf replied, "Just cuz he's my little bro doesn't mean he tells me everything." Then Sundrop's trembling voice piped in, "Is there something bothering him? He seems a little upset by something but I don't think it's the kids."
"He's just being Monty and Monty is supposed to be an arrogant jerk bag who doesn't care about anyone else," Gregory declared. Monty's eyes snapped open when he heard that. Meanwhile, there was a gasp from Freddy followed by, "Gregory, I know we were all programmed with different personalities but that is no way to speak about family." A new voice spoke, mostly likely belonging to the new teen, "Family? If he's family, then why is he insisting that we leave?"
"Maybe he's right," Chica's soft voice clucked. There was a sniffle before she continued, "I mean, look what happened to Bonnie. The children loved him and then..." A choked sob interrupted her. Roxy then spoke, "No no Chica, the children had nothing to do with what happened to your brother. Bonnie was merely in a horrible accident, nothing more."
"A horrible accident..." Monty whispered under his breath. Lowering his gaze, he found himself staring at his claws. His razor sharp claws. The light glistened off the metallic material and it danced whenever he flexed his fingers. There was more talking inside the room but he was no longer paying attention. He was entranced by his claws, his razor sharp claws that shined in the light-
"That still gives him no right to yell at us! He's been treating everyone like scum!" Gregory whined, snapping Monty out of his dark thoughts. The kid continued, "Dad, I love this family, I really do! But he is the only one who wants nothing to do with it!" Someone cleared their throat before Vanessa finally chimed in, "He has a point. Monty is the only one not onboard with this family thing."
"I know, I know. I will admit, Monty is difficult to deal with, and he can be mean and furious and hotheaded," Freddy rumbled, "And he is different from the rest of us in those regards..." Monty couldn't believe what he was hearing now. This was the thanks he got for trying to protect them from the dangers of the real world?! Not wanting to listen to another word, the alligator stomped off before he could hear the rest of Freddy's statement, "But he is no different than the rest of us. He is still our friend and a part of our family. We can't abandon him now." The rest of the group nodded their heads in understanding. Wiping the oily tears away, Chica chirped, "One of us should check on him. I hope he's okay."
Rage was boiling inside Monty as he stormed through the mall. DJ's dance floor was far behind him now. And hopefully he was not being followed by one of the others. He had an urge to break something. Fortunately, guests seemed to get the idea as they scattered, trying to get away from the beast in their midst. They were visibly terrified at the sight of this hulking animatronic with anger issues. It was a good thing they were getting out of the way. If they hadn't, there would be heads rolling. Marching over to an elevator that just touched down, Monty entered as a herd of people scrambled out. Once inside, he whipped around and slammed his hand on a button, making the doors slam shut.
"Don't wanna live as an untold story, rather go out in a blaze of glory!" Monty growled, his fists clenching and unclenching. He paced around in the elevator like a caged animal as he continued, "I can't hear you, I don't fear you!" At that last part, he slammed his fist into the wall, leaving a dent. The elevator doors rolled open, revealing his location to be Rockstar Row. People who were waiting for the elevator fled while he stepped out snarling, "I'll live now cuz the bad die last. Dodging bullets with your broken past."
"Here, take a map-" Map Bot cheerfully offered, holding up a piece of paper. Whirling around, Monty backhanded the other robot, causing him to topple over as the alligator hissed, "I can't hear you, I don't fear you now!" The last part came out as a thunderous bellow, loud enough to make it feel like the walls were shaking. Realizing they had an angry animatronic in their midst, the guests fled in terror as another roar echoed in the area. "Wrapped in your regret!" Monty snarled, marching over to his room, "What a waste of blood and sweat! Oh!" Slamming his door behind him, he grabbed a golf club.
SMASH! There went the tv.
"I wanna taste love and pain!"
CRASH! The table was broken in half.
"Wanna feel pride and shame!"
WHAM! The couch was flipped over.
"I don't wanna take my time!"
RIP! Gone were the curtains and the wallpaper.
"Don't wanna waste one line!"
BAM! The bookshelf toppled over.
"I wanna live better days!"
WHACK! The golf club struck the recharge station, damaging both items. Tossing aside the mangled remains of the club, Monty swatted everything off his dresser as he sang to his reflection in the mirror, "Never look back and say could have been me. It could have been me..." Staring at his reflection calmly for a second, the anger came rushing back in as he punched the glass, shattering it as he yelled, "Yeah!"
"I wanna taste love and pain, wanna feel pride and shame," faint voices called out. Whirling around, Monty found himself on the main stage. The room was dark except for the faint blue lighting. Gathered around the star shaped stage were hundreds of STAFF bots waving their arms back and forth as they sang out, "Don't wanna take my time!" Feeling a sense of recognition, Monty called back, "No!"
"Don't wanna waste one line!"
"Hey, hey!"
"Wanna live better days!"
"Just better!"
"Never look back and say!"
"Could have been me!" Monty cried, strumming his bass guitar that somehow just appeared now, "It could have been me!" Still waving their arms in the air, the STAFF bot audience replied back, "It could have been me!"
"It could have been me!" Monty shouted. The platform he was on began to rise. He went higher and higher, overlooking a huge audience. Playing his guitar for the crowd, the alligator animatronic sang, "I wanna taste love and pain, wanna feel pride and shame. I don't wanna take my time, don't wanna waste one line. I wanna live better days, just better! Never look back and say could have been me, it could have been me! It could have been me! It could have been me! Yeah!"
And just like that, the visual came to an end. Monty was once again facing reality. He was standing in the middle of his wrecked room. Everything was a mess, including Monty's mental state right now. His anger finally dissipating, the alligator animatronic crumbled to the floor with a whine. Scooting back towards his broken dresser and its shattered mirror, he reached behind it and grabbed a Bonnie plushie. "I'm so sorry Bonnie..." Monty whimpered, hugging the plushie close to his chest, "I tried... they just won't listen... and now they'll face the same fate..." Choking back his tears and sobs, he growled, "And I can't stay to watch..."
