Chapter 21
"That was amazing!" Gregory exclaimed, jumping up and down with excitement. Chuckling, Vanessa set her hand on the top of his head in an attempt to get him to calm down. "Easy there kiddo, before you hurt yourself," she teased. Kneeling down, the security guard adjusted her hat before she spoke, "You wanna head down and say hi to Freddy before closing?" She winked quietly with a silent glance at Shane and Trish. Nodding his head, Gregory replied, "Okay!"
"Here, you can take this little one too. Tell her parents she is the most adorable baby in the world!" Trish stated, handing Grace over to Vanessa. A nervous smile creeping across her face, the security guard mumbled, "Right, yeah. Just gotta return the baby I was tasked with babysitting to her parents, wherever they may be." She muttered the last part loud enough for Gregory to hear.
"You have a good night Vanessa, we'll see you tomorrow morning," Shane called over his shoulder as he and Trish walked away. Waving goodbye to her friends, Vanessa replied back, "Goodnight guys!" As the adults were bidding farewell to each other, Gregory turned to Pedro. "Hey," the younger boy piped up, "If you want, you can come with us to see Roxy." Smiling at that, Pedro responded, "Yes please."
"Alright kiddos, let's go see the band," Vanessa declared, holding Grace gingerly. Pedro followed close behind, taking care not to roll over anyone's foot. The group took the elevator down. Making sure to keep the kids close, Vanessa led the children through the crowd as they exited the auditorium. They practically mingled with all of the other guests as they made their way downstairs to the arcade leading to the front lobby. At last, the security guard managed to free them from the sea of people. Pointing, she declared, "There they are."
"Hello Gregory!" Freddy's booming voice called out. The bear animatronic was walking over with Roxy and Chica following him. "Freddy!" Gregory cried, running over to the robot. Kneeling down, Freddy caught the young boy in his arms and gave him a big hug. Snatching the bear's hat and putting it on his own head, Gregory exclaimed, "You guys were awesome out there!"
"Yeah! The show was amazing!" Pedro added as he came over. Her tail wagging when she saw the teenager, Roxy yipped, "Pedro! It's so good to see you again!" Ruffling the boy's hair playfully, she continued, "I'm glad you enjoyed the show kiddo." Spotting Grace, Chica gasped happily and reached out for her. Snickering at the chicken's antics, Vanessa handed her the baby as she cautioned with a pointed look at the guests, "Careful there Chica, don't squish her."
"I won't, I promise," Chica vowed, cuddling Grace. The small child was absentmindedly gumming the metallic feathers that made up the chicken's hairdo. The animatronic didn't seem to mind though. Giving Freddy another hug, Gregory gave the bear his hat back before he turned to Vanessa and remarked, "Thank you Aunt Vanessa. I think Mom and Dad will be here soon."
"Hm? Oh yes, yeah. You and Grace can hang out with me in the office," Vanessa replied, catching on. The animatronics also got the message as Chica handed Grace back to the security guard. Patting Gregory on the head gently, Freddy stated, "I'll see you later, my superstar." The bear winked his right eye. Winking back, Gregory declared, "Okay Freddy."
"Here Roxy, you can have one of these trophies. We technically won them together," Pedro piped up, handing the biggest trophy to the wolf animatronic. Gingerly taking it from the teenage boy, Roxy wagged her tail and answered, "Thank you. You have a good night Pedro." Waving over his shoulder as he wheeled away, Pedro replied, "You too Roxy! See ya tomorrow!"
"Aww. Roxy, I think you have a fan," Chica remarked. Swinging her hair to the side, Roxy declared, "Of course, I am the best. Aren't I?" Chuckling quietly, Freddy murmured, "Of course Roxanne." The three animatronics stood there, waving goodbye to the guests and chatting with any who had time to stop by. Vanessa, meanwhile, took Gregory and Grace to the office to wait until everyone left before they could come back out later. All the while, they were all being watched from the eyes in the sky.
Leaning over the railing slightly, Monty growled quietly to himself. His eyes narrowed as he watched the children interact with the other animatronics. How could they let the little brats do that, after all they had been through? As far as the alligator animatronic cared, he would never ever willingly allow a kid to come near him ever again. Not after what that troublemaker did.
And that was another thing that angered Monty. How could Freddy have grown so attached to the troublemaker? That kid had caused nothing but trouble since that fateful night. And now he was gonna get everyone else in hot water if the higher ups ever found out. The alligator knew what the higher ups were like. They were merciless. If they ever found out about the kids, they wouldn't hesitate to entirely scrap and decommission the animatronic involved. Heck, what they did to freaking-
Something cracked. Snapping out of his thoughts, Monty looked down. He had been squeezing the railing so hard that it had broken. The metal was crushed and mangled. Backing away, the alligator animatronic ended up backing into a wall. He held up his clawed hands, staring at them. A neon light glistened off the green colored metal. Gulping nervously, Monty glanced behind him.
The neon lights blazed over the doors to one of the Pizzaplex's most popular attractions. Above the neon sign was a painting of a purple rabbit wearing a bowling shirt and spinning a bowling ball on one finger. Bonnie Bowl, named after the mascot Bonnie himself. Perhaps Monty's least favorite place in the world. Staring up at the purple rabbit, the alligator clenched his fists as he snarled, "I promise, I won't let them end up like you. None of them will, not as long as I'm here." Ripping his gaze away, the animatronic stormed off towards his green room upstairs. He needed some alone time, peace and quiet away from all of his troubles.
