Chapter 10

It was a few days later, and Indigo was eating breakfast, barely touching it. Her mother, Margaret, walks by and notices her. "What's wrong Indigo, you barely touched your food." "You should eat it before it gets too cold." says her father, Harold. "I'm fine. I'm fine." Indigo lied as she still kept on playing with her food. "Are you sure? Is there anything wrong?" "No Mother, as I said before, I am okay." "Are you sure? You seem kind of down all of a sudden." Indigo slams her fists on the table. "I said, that I am okay! Don't you get it? You don't have to know everything I do or say!" Indigo's eyes then widened. Did I just do that? She thought to herself as she slowly descended from the table. At the same time, her parents faces were shocked, there faces were blank. Finally, Indigo's mother snapped. "That's all Indigo! Go to your room!" There was a pause... Indigo then looks at her father, who was still blank and speechless. "Now!" Indigo's mother said louder as she pointed toward Indigo's room. Indigo rolled her eyes and stomps off into her room.

Finally, Indigo was in and she slammed her door. Then puts her back against it. Suddenly, she heard something familiar, something she knew before. "Who's there?" she asked ignorantly. Silence. Indigo was a little frightened and at the same time, concerned. "Who's there?"... Again, silence. Indigo was getting frustrated, she clenched her fists. "Alright, all done with fun and games! Get over here and show yourself!" Finally, there was that deep laughing noise. I must be hearing things. Indigo thought to herself as she walked back to the door, but there wasn't her door, the door to her room any more. There was that deep laughing again, over and over again. Then Indigo felt something liquid on her hands. She looked down, there was flashes then. It was at first normal, then drops of red, then normal, the drops of red, over and over again. Later, Indigo found that it was blood on her hands, she panicked a little. Blood? There's blood on my hands! Where did this come from? Finally, it stopped at the point that there was blood on her hands. "It's your turn Indigo." a deep voice spoke. "Do as you were told." Suddenly, Indigo turns around and sees a man, still alive, but was blacked out. Indigo panicked even more. "I... I can't..." "Do it you must." "But this is an innocent man. He never did anything wrong." "What about avenging your father?" Father? "Don't you remember?"... Indigo shook her head, "I may not know what your talking about, but I won't kill!" "Do it." Those words then echoed around Indigo, getting louder, and louder. Indigo then covers her ears. And finally screams like bloody murder. As she then took the knife that suddenly was in her hand and killed the man... "(deep laughing) Good job, Indigo." the deep laugh voice said as everything went black.

Indigo wakes up from the start, she quickly looks at her hands. It was just a dream Indigo. It was just a dream. Indigo then takes a few moments and looks at her hands, she was glad that they didn't have any sort of blood on there. Yep. It was just a dream. Another thought also ran through Indigo's mind. About the blood. Indigo shook her head, Hopefully this will all turn out. Finally, getting up, she opened her door. Good, no dream. So Indigo walks out of her room, dressed and everything. Then Indigo heard voices, voices belonging to her parents. Indigo quietly moves forward and listens carefully. "You can't! You know what happened last time!" Indigo heard her mother shout. Last time? "I have to, however, at least this would give me paid more."... "Still."... "I know you're worried, Margaret. I'll be fine." Indigo then hears sniffs and crying. "Since we've moved here, you've been looking for a job, and now you have one. Are you happy about it?" "Yes, of course I..." "Well, keep it that way! I don't want you to take that position! As your wife, Harold, I forbid you to take that position! Call Frederick and tell him to decline that position!" "Margaret Davidson, this is what I have to do! If I still want to still be in this job, then I gotta... I gotta take a step further." "No you can't! Decline that position, Harold! And let someone else take it for you!" "And let that person also be dead to?!" There was silence in the room. Then finally, Indigo's father spoke, but in a quieter tone. "Margaret, the question is, what are you so afraid of?" After saying that, Indigo's mother cried hard and sniffed, but was calm. "Death. I am afraid... of death. I don't want you to die like this. I don't know what to do... to do without you." Again, there was silence. It seems that things just got calmer. Indigo thought to herself, as she walked forward. Finally, she was out in the open where her parents could see her. The conversation finally stopped. Her father was the first to speak, "Good morning Indigo." Indigo smiled, but her mother was silent and didn't say anything. "What are you guys doing?" Indigo asked, even she already knew what happened. "Nothing really." Harold looked over at Margaret, but she stayed silent. "Well, I best be going... See ya later..." And with that Indigo's father left and closed the door. The whole house was then still and quiet. Nothing moved, no one spoke a word. Indigo just stood there, looking at the door. Her mother, however, still sat there silent. "Are you okay Mother?" Indigo then asked, as she motioned forward. "I'm fine." was the only words Indigo's mother, Margaret, said. And without another word, Indigo's mother walked off into her room, and closed the door shut. Indigo was then the only person in the room. Everything's going down hill, isn't it. She thought to herself, as she walked towards the back door.

Finally, she was in the backyard. It was a cool windy morning, Indigo puts her arms around herself, protecting herself from the cold. The cold wind blows on her face. Her hair also blew in the wind, almost covering her face. Finally, Indigo walks towards her tree from the backyard that was slanted. As she reached it, she laid herself on the slanted side of the tree. The wind was blocked then and Indigo couldn't really feel anything, but warmth. She however, was a little cold. With her back against the tree, she looked up at the light gray sky. And then Indigo was calm, her mind was calm. She then closed her eyes, and let sleep take over. But something else woke her, quickly, Indigo looks around her. There wasn't anything. Strange, I thought I heard something. she thought to herself as she sat upright a little. Indigo didn't really know what to do, Is this God's doing? Is this how my life is supposed to be? I don't want to do this, I don't want to forget anything. I want to remember, I want to remember every moment I had throughout my whole entire life. I want a happy ending, and I can change that. Nothing and no one can't stop me. Indigo smiled, but was worried, could she do all that? Remember everything? There was too many questions Indigo asked herself, in which, made her mind sad and worried. So Indigo stopped thinking negatively. She wanted to let her mind relax. All these things that I didn't say, are like wrecking balls inside my head. It's like I don't know whom to trust anymore. A shiver then ran down Indigo's spin. She knew what was going to happen, well not all of it. But whatever it was, Indigo wasn't really scared, she knew what would be coming. Indigo shivers again from the cold and decided to go inside, so she walks that direction. I know that someone or something bad is coming. It's like cat and mouse. There the cat,... Indigo turns around before entering the house. And I am the mouse.
