Peer Pressure

I once heard a joke that said that peer pressure could make even Darth Vader dress up like a girl for Halloween. Half of the reason it's funny is the image of the Darth Vader, all dark and creepy and mysterious dressed up in a blonde wig, pink hair bows, and dress. The other part is the fact that it's true! TBH, peer pressure sucks.

Like, I used to watch this total kiddy show called 'Super Why' in third grade, while everyone else watched Disney Channel or Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network or whatever. I was the only one that watched Super Why.

And then, just like I complained about in the first part of this book, someone decided to judge me. This is about how the conversation went.

TEACHER: Okay, class, so today we're gonna play a game, since you kids have earned it with your wonderful behavior!

CLASS: Yay!

TEACHER: So the first person will tell us what their favorite TV show is. The next person will have to say that TV show and then their favorite TV show. The third person will say both those shows, and their favorite show. It will go on through the whole class. At the end, everyone has to try and say all those shows in order. If you can't say all of them in order, you are out! Got it?

CLASS: Yes, ma'am!

TEACHER: Great! We'll start with you Shravya (that's me)! What's your favorite TV show?

ME: I like Super Why! (I was excited and I didn't think of how other people like to judge you)

GIRL 1: Ew! You watch that show?!

INNOCENT ME: Uh, yeah?

GIRL 1: That is so weird.

GIRL 2: I know, right? Who even watches that?

ME: (now officially broken) C-c-can I, can I ch-ch-change it?

We were always a pretty advanced class -literally. TejaTumm, 😉

Oh, and don't ask me who that girl is. I'll never tell you. (To those people who just saw this note, this is your cue to say oopsies. I wanna see at least one! ;) )

Anyways, a couple weeks later, we played the same game, with TV shows still. (don't ask me why) I didn't start, but I was one of the first. When it came to my turn, those two girls said, "Ew. She's gonna say Super Why again. If she says that.....I'm gonna....."

Guess what I said. Don't worry, I'll give you a second.

1 Mississippi.....

Okay, times up! :D well, I had heard about this show called 'That's So Raven', so I said that. Life was okay then. But I had lied, and it was thanks to peer pressure.

Dang. Peer pressure and judging others really go hand in hand!
