Even though he had his eyes closed, he realized that Wangji was taking quite a few twists and turns on the way. His curiosity was almost at the threshold when the bike slowed down and then finally stopped. Wei Wuxian, finally opened his eyes, and gasped. They were somewhere on the top of the hills which overlooked their city. the twinkling city lights far below them.
 
"Look up bunny" Wangji, who was following every expression on the other's face, whispered.
 
That's when the other looked up, eyes wide with surprise.
"Oh my, Lan Zhan. This...this is beautiful... We never get to see so many stars." he pulled off his helmet and walked a little toward the edge.
 
"Careful, Wei Ying."
 
He hummed in response. He took his shoes off and then felt the dark grass under his feet. It felt soft to the touch. He looked back, "Lan Zhan! We-" he stopped mid-sentence. Lan Wangji was laying down near a cluster of rocks. He extended his hand as an invitation.
 
"Come," was all Wangji said.
 
He didn't have to be asked twice. He picked up his shoes and walked to where Wangji lay. After a few seconds he laid beside him, his hands cushioning his head.

"So, this is where you brought all your girlfriends to woo them?" He asked, purely out of curiosity.
"I never brought anyone here. You're the first. Just like you were the first and only one that I shared my spot in the university garden with."
 
The other's eyes widened in surprise. The simple words had the same effect as a sugar rush, making Wei Wuxian feel high enough to touch the stars and he blushed wildly.
 
"You and your sweet tongue..."
 
"Is it sweet tongue, if it's true?" Wangji scooted closer, until he was side by side with the other man, their bodies almost touching.
 
"Stop it. I get heart palpitations every time you say something like that." He covered his face with his hands, "At least give me a warning, Lan Zhan!"
 
"Don't cover your beautiful face, I want to look at it." Wangji tugged at his arm, willing it to let go, then looked at him fondly, their faces bathed in ambient light from the stars shining above them in the dark sky.
 
"Excuse me, sir, but I thought you brought me here to stargaze? And the stars are up there..." Wei Wuxian used his index finger to turn the other's face away from him and towards the sky. Lan Wangji got indecent thoughts when he heard Wei Wuxian call him 'sir' so he let his bunny guide his eyes, since he desperately needed a distraction.
 
"Do you know any constellations up there?" Wuxian asked.
 
Wangji took a deep breath to cleanse himself of the dirty thoughts and then raised his hand to point at the sky. "Look, that over there, the one which looks like a spoon, is the big dipper. If you draw a straight line from the last two stars over there," Wangji moved his finger tracing an imaginary line in the air, "You will reach the north star which is used by sailors as a point of direction."
 
He followed Wangji's finger diligently. "Oh! I see it. Wow. Is the big dipper visible all through the year?"
 
"Nope. Only from spring to autumn. But there's another one which is visible all through the year." Wangji pointed towards another one, "Cassiopeia." 
 
"What does it look like?" He asked, curious.
 
"Like a seated queen. It is named after Queen Cassiopeia who was loved by King Cepheus. One of the brightest constellations in the night sky."
 
"I am impressed, Lan Zhan. I didn't take you for a person who would love these kinds of things." He said, not unkindly.
 
Wangji smiled sadly. "My parents died when I was 4. And everyone told me that they had become stars in the night sky. So, I used to stare at the sky for hours in hopes I could see them again. Of course, that never happened but all that led me to my love for stars. And here I am." Wangji closed his eyes for a few seconds before he opened them again and looked at Wei Wuxian. "Funny how I tend to tell you things that I have never shared with anyone."
 
He felt for Wangji's hand beside him and held it, giving it a light squeeze. "I lost my parents too when I was young. I was bouncing around the foster system when uncle Jiang and Madam Yu adopted me. So, I guess I can understand where you're coming from." He turned his head to look at Wangji then, eyes unblinking, "Lan Zhan... thank you for sharing a part of yourself with me.." he looked away then, "Tell me, which one is the brightest star in the sky?"
 
"I am looking at the brightest one right now," Wangji answered.
 
Wei Wuxian looked back at the other man to find him still staring at him. It made him suddenly feel nervous. Wangji squeezed his hand softly, while the other hand caressed the swollen lips very tenderly.
Both of them had not realized the distance between their bodies diminishing. Wangji was almost hovering over Wei Wuxian now, their faces so close that it made him fidget nervously, while licking his lips, which suddenly felt dry. Wangji followed the other's movement closely. At that moment, he really wanted to close the gap between them and kiss his bunny senseless.
 
And when their lips finally touched, soft, tender, Wei Wuxian felt like his heart would explode into a million shooting stars.
 
For Lan Wangji, it wasn't exactly a kiss in the real sense, but it managed to ignite a passion in him. If left unchecked the flames of desire would engulf them whole and there would be no turning back. So, reluctantly he broke the contact.
 
"Wei Ying... I... I'm sorry but I really didn't bring you here for this. I just wanted to spend some time with you. After what happened tonight, I was angry and I-".
 
He didn't get to finish that sentence as Wei Wuxian placed a finger over his lips to shush him. Even in the darkness Wei Wuxian could see that Lan Wangji was flustered. Lan Wangji. Flustered. Well, it was a sight you don't see every day. Or ever. He thought, and it made him feel like a thousand butterflies had taken flight in his stomach. Before he could barely register what he was doing, he cupped Lan Wangji's face and pecked his cheek. He then moved back and looked into the other's eyes with a smile. Both of them settled back on the soft grass and continued looking up at the sky.

"Wei Ying..."

"Mn?"

"I am glad you called me tonight."

"I am glad you came."
