Two days.
Two long days that Wei Wuxian was away.
Two long days that Lan Wangji had seen or heard the other.
Two long days where he had looked at his phone multiple times in hopes to see a message from his bunny.
But nothing.
He had only received that one impersonal text message and then complete radio silence. He hated waiting. Lan Wangji was not known for his patience.
Yet, here he was.. waiting for his bunny to return, not following his instinct to go hunting for him to wherever he had gone off to. If Lan Xichen saw him now, he would be proud of his kid brother and in awe of Wei Wuxian who was somehow starting to tame the wild beast without even doing anything.

---

Wei Wuxian walked to the school gate, eyes heavy with sleep since he couldn't get any last night. He was restless. The bad boy who he had wanted to avoid, hadn't texted him after that day. He should be happy about it, but he wasn't. For some reason he kept checking his phone from time to time, yet there was nothing. Lan Wangji had bothered him almost everyday from the time they had met so when he suddenly stopped, it left Wei Wuxian feeling as if something important was missing.

He stopped at a small food truck just outside the university gate that served the best coffee this side of town, and ordered a triple espresso to go. While he waited for the coffee, he chose a plain glazed doughnut, and ate it for the sugar kick.
He just finished eating and drinking his coffee, when he heard the sound of a bike reverberating through him. He knew without looking that the particular sexy sound belonged to only one person.

It stopped beside him.

"Come with me."

Without waiting for approval or any sign that he agreed to come, Lan Wangji pulled Wei Wuxian's arm, and put him behind his seat, then shoved the extra helmet onto his arm.

"Where are you taking me? I have a class in 30 minutes." Wei Wuxian frowned at the assertive tone of this man that haunted his dream, making him lose sleep.

"Just come with me...please?"

Lan Wangji's eyes pleaded at him, making him unable to refuse. How could he?

He just sighed and finally gave in.

"Fine. You owe me boba. Lots of boba." He glared at Lan Wangji, who gave him a smile so bright it blinded even the sun.

Lan Wangji started the bike and off they went to wherever the bad boy was taking him. All the while Wei Wuxian held onto Lan Wangji's torso tightly, he was still scared of bike but this man made everything seem effortless. Wei Wuxian smiled unconsciously and rested his head on his shoulders, closing his eyes. Lan Wangji had slowed down so as to feel the other against him a little longer than necessary. After about 30 minutes, they stopped. Wei Wuxian raised his head to look around. He quickly got off the bike and took off his helmet, handing it over to Lan Wangji.

"The pier? Are we going to the carnival?" Wei Wuxian jaw dropped in astonishment.
Lan Wangji did not say anything, just smirked at the childlike glee on the other's face. After he parked the bike, he grabbed Wei Wuxian's hand and pulled him close, eyes on the other all the while.
"I craved for some carnival food, c'mon" he half dragged Wei Wuxian into the direction of the food stalls.
"At this time of the day? You must be out of your mind..." Wei Wuxian mumbled, mostly to himself, but he allowed himself to be dragged around, the big warm hand enveloping his.

True to his words, he bought themselves loads of carnival foods, corn dogs, cotton candy, fizzy drinks, popcorns, some spicy skewers, jian bing, and some doujiang for Wei Wuxian. He looked at Lan Wangji, amused.

"You really gonna eat all that?"

"Mmh.. you want some?" He shoved the jianbing and cotton candy into his hands, and Wei Wuxian held it all together, laughing.

"What?" Lan Wangji frowned at the sudden guffaws of laughter.

"Nothing..." he couldn't hold himself anymore. "It's just that...you shoved all of the food into your mouth...making you look like a..hamster hoarding food.." he laughed until his face was red.

"Glad to be of a service." Lan Wangji had the gall to bow, grinning ear to ear, and munching away in delight for he finally could make the other laugh.

He had been waiting for Wei Wuxian outside the university gates since he knew he would be coming back today. He didn't want to give the other to avoid him anymore. He was done waiting. When Wei Wuxian had walked towards the gates that morning, he had seen the shadow under Wuxian's eyes. He looked like he hadn't slept a wink last night, so he had just grabbed him on a whim and took him to the place that his brother had suggested to him last week, the carnival. Well, it was supposed to be the happiest place on earth right? No, scratch that, it was Disneyland, but this was close. He would take him to Disneyland next time.

He swallowed the rest of his food, and wiped off his greasy hands, stomach full of greasy food, but hell, it was worth the extra gym time he had to do to get these extra calories off.

"So, what are we going to do next? You wanna play?" But without waiting for Wei Wuxian's answer, he again dragged him to one of the dart games stalls. The game was simple. You had to shoot darts to pop balloons and if you managed to shoot three in a row, you would get the prize of your choosing.

And of course Lan Wangji, being the badass person that he was, managed to shoot all three and chose a plush bunny to give to Wei Wuxian.

"Really?" He looked at him incredulously.

Lan Wangji smiled until his eyes crinkled, before he dragged him to the House of Horrors. Wuxian was scared as they entered. Wei Wuxian unconsciously held on to Lan Wangji's hand tightly for assurance. When ghouls and ghosts came at them from the darkness both screamed at the top of their voices and then laughed at their own silliness.

They spent most of the day running around the pier, playing games and getting on rides and generally having fun, until the sun almost set. Afterwards they sat on one of the bench, looking at setting sun munching on some snacks.

Lan Wangji looked towards Wei Wuxian and smiled. All the tiredness he had seen earlier on Wuxian's face was now replaced by a contended smile which warmed Lan Wangji's heart.

"Do you want to light some lanterns and release them into the sky. We could make a wish!" Lan Wangji asked, his eyes twinkling.

Wei Wuxian nodded in excitement. "Yes let's do it!"

"Be right back."

After 5 minutes, Lan Wangji came back with two lanterns. They lit their lanterns and then said their wishes silently, before they went into the edge of the pier and released them together with the others.

They watched it in silence, before Lan Wangji held Wei Wuxian's hand. Wei Wuxian froze for a second before he relaxed into the touch. Holding hands with Lan Wangji felt right, just right.
"I had the best time today." Lan Wangji said.
Wei Wuxian turned to look at him, only to find he was already looking back. A smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he watch the other's smile bloom.

"Me too but unfortunately we have to go back now or my brother will kill me for going M.I.A." He turned away only to be held back by the hand that was still holding his. He turned back to the man who had brought so much happiness to his day and tilted his head in question.
"Can we go for one more ride?"
Of course the perfect way to end the night was to go on the Ferris wheel. They both rode in silence when the wheels suddenly stop, right at the top.
Outside there were stars, peppering in the darkening sky, with the moon rising up ahead them all, giving a surreal glow to their faces.

"So..." Lan Wangji started.
"So...?" Wuxian replied.
"Did you have fun?"
"I could do less with the food, but yeah, I had fun,. Thank you so much for today, Wangji..."
"Lan Zhan..."
"Hmm?"

"You can call me Lan Zhan, it's my birth name."
"Lan Zhan... it's a beautiful name. Then you may call me Wei Ying." He smiled softly, aware of the intimacy of the situation, but found himself unable to refuse anymore.
"Wei Ying..." the name rolled out from his lips like honey, sounding sweet and making him warm inside.

But before they were able to say anything more, the wheels started moving down, slowly, but not slow enough to make the time lasts.
