City of Busan

Jin's Pov:

"Please get with your partner." Ms. Choi gives out once she had finish assigning everyone with a partner. I lowered my head and continued scribbling in my book. I was hoping that maybe Taehyung would throw a fit and say he didn't want to work with me. Perhaps I would end up getting my wish and end up working by myself.

"Okay, let's get this over with." A deep voice said next to me as a chair is pulled closer. My heart started pounding in my chest, and I looked up, praying he wasn't looking at me. Of course, he wasn't looking at me; he was swiping through his phone and paying no attention to me whatsoever.

"Listen up as I will not be repeating this. This project plays a vital role in your grade for the first quarter, and if you fail this project, you will fail this class. There are two parts to this project. The first part is you and your partner will be assigned a city in South Korea that you will need to learn about its culture, the food, the people, the major attractions, the best places to stay when visiting this city. After learning all of this, you will need to create a tour guide based on what you have learned and would recommend to someone visiting that city.

At the end of this quarter, we will have a festival which will be open to the public. You will be given a booth, at this booth, you will do your best to showcase the city you were assigned to. However you decide to decorate your booth is entirely up to you. You will act as the representative and the tour guide for that city. This project aim is to bring awareness to the cities around South Korea and what they each have to offer. Whichever team at the end of this project receives the most votes by their peers and the general public at the festival will automatically pass this class with an A, and you will receive a surprise to be announced at that time.

Before you leave class today, please come and take a packet with the city that has been assigned to you and your partner. You will have a weekly check-in with me to ensure that you are staying on task and can use that opportunity to ask for help with guidance if needed."

I was now regretting taking this class as an elective. This did not even sound like it was going to be a simple project; she wanted us to be tour guides! I was going to be stuck with him for an entire quarter of the semester. High School hated me. Maybe it's not too late for me to back out of this class, it was an elective after all.

"Anyone who was born in Busan, please stand." The teacher called out, I turned to look and saw that Jimin who I knew was born there standing, along with his partner and a few other students had stood up too. I was amazed by how many people were from that city.

"Great! You can sit back down. Kim Seokjin and Kim Taehyung, you both will be assigned to the city of Busan."

I looked to my left to see if Taehyung was paying attention or if he had any reaction to what the teacher had said, but he was too busy typing away on his phone. I knew this was not going to be an easy project.

"Okay, now that you have all been assigned a city, please take the last few minutes of class time to discuss your project with your partner. If you have any questions, raise your hand, and I will be right with you." Mrs. Choi said and walked from the front of the classroom to sit at her desk.

"So, you are Kim Seokjin? I am Taehyung, but I prefer Tae or V." Taehyung said, turning to face me. He was not saying anything I didn't already know about him. I think the entire school knew his preferred name by now. I didn't understand why he liked to go by V, maybe it stood for something, but I didn't know what. It didn't matter anyway; I liked his real name better.

"Yeah, but you can call me Jin."

"Alright Jin, so when do you want to get started on this project? I am usually busy most evenings after school, but since this is a school project, I can make time so we can work on it. The quicker we can be done with it, the better. I don't think it will take us long to get it done." As he was talking to me, he was typing on his phone and smiling at whatever was on it.

I kind of wish he could've maybe turned and give me the same attention he was giving to his phone, but I guess that was possibly hoping for too much. I knew he probably didn't care about this project, especially considering he had to work with someone who was not his friend. So I came up with an easy solution that would benefit both of us.

"Seeing that you are busy, why don't I work on the outline of the project and put everything together. I will do the research and piece all the information together to create a city tour guide. On the day before the festival, we can meet up, and I will share all the information I have, and we can set up the booth together."

He turned his head and looked at me with a smile on his face, "So you are suggesting that you will do all the work, and then we can partner together on the last day to showcase it?"

"Basically, but no one will know I did all the work, so it should be fine." I figured he would agree with my solution. I wouldn't have to worry about working with him, and I could do the project in peace with no interaction.

He smirked and then laughed, "Fine for who exactly, you or me?"

I was a bit confused by his question. "both..of us?"

"Are you implying that I am incapable of doing my own work?" he leaned his head to the side and stared at me with a blank look on his face.

"oh gosh no, I was not, you said you were busy, so I thought-"

"Thanks for the offer, but I am not looking for you to do my work for me. Here is my number, text me your availability on when we can begin working on our assignment." He scribbled onto my notebook, picked up his bag, and walked out of the classroom.

Way to go Jin.

******

A/N: Don't ask me where the hell I came up with that assignment from. I remember doing something similar in college, but it was a nursing class about something I cannot remember. However, I do recall doing it for countries and we had to bring food from those countries to go with our project at the end of the semester, but my memory is not 100%. Either way, Taejin will be working together!
