Fox Spirit Aleu: LOTR Fanfic
Aleu is a fox spirit of Lothlorien. She protected the forest. She looks like a common silver fox, with one tail. But her spirit form is three times the size of a normal fox with nine tails. Each tail gives her a different power. One being telepathy. Anyway, more about her powers later. Right now she is in Rivendell to represent Lothlorien at the Council of Lord Elrond. On requests of Lady Galadriel. Needless to say, Boromir and his men were not pleased. But made no objections after a stern look from Lord Elrond.
Aleu's POV
I sat on a chair beside Lord Elronds as he stepped forward to address us all. "Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle-Earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall" he tells us. "Each race is bound to this fate — this one doom. Bring forth the Ring, Frodo" he instructs a hobbit.
Who had been sitting beside Gandalf the grey. The hobbit stepped forward and placed a golden ring on the table. My fur bristles as I feel something evil try to enter my mind. I pushed it away.
"So it is true" Boromir mutters as he stands to address us. "In a dream, I saw the eastern sky grow dark. But in the West a pale light lingered. A voice was crying: 'Your doom is near at hand'. Isildur's Bane is found" he tells us, as he approaches the ring.
Boromir reaches out towards the Ring. Gandalf and Elrond exchange concerned looks. Boromir's fingers hover above the Ring. "Boromir" Elrond says firmly. Gandalf stands and begins to chant in the Black Speech. The ring echoes the harsh words. Thunder crackles as the sky darkens. The rest of the Council stare around us in fear and confusion.
The voice of the Ring dies away. People resume their seats, horrified, Boromir amongst them. As Elrond rubbed his forehead. "Never before has any voice uttered the words of that tongue here in Imladris" he states.
"I do not ask your pardon, Master Elrond, for the Black Speech of Mordor may yet be heard in every corner of the West" Gandalf tells him. "The Ring is altogether evil" he states.
'Agreed old friend' I say in his head. He looks at me briefly before taking his seat.
"It is a gift. A gift to the foes of Mordor" Boromir proclaims. "Why not use this Ring?" he asks us. "Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor, kept the forces of Mordor at bay. By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe! Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us use it against him" he states.
"You cannot wield it! None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master" Aragorn states.
"And what would a ranger know of this matter?" Boromir sneers.
'He is no mere ranger' I state for all to hear as I stand on the chair I am on. At the same time Legolas got to his feet.
"She's right, he is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance" he tells Boromir.
"Aragorn? This... is Isildur's heir?" Boromir asks unimpressed.
"And heir to the throne of Gondor" Legolas and I declare.
"Havo dad Aleu, Legolas" Aragorn tells us in elvish. (Translation: sit down Aleu, Legolas). I roll my eyes at him, I am no dog. But I sit down anyway after Legolas did.
"Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king" Boromir states.
'Only a fool would believe that' I say to Legolas. Who nods his head at me in agreement.
"Aragorn is right. We cannot use it" Gandalf states.
'Agreed' I say for all to hear.
"You have only one choice. The Ring must be destroyed" Elrond tells us.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Gimli asks. Gimli grabs an axe and approaches the pedestal. He strikes the Ring with full force but is repelled back, throwing him to the ground. Concurrently, Frodo sees the Eye of Sauron in his mind and winces in pain. I look at the poor hobbit sympathetically. The Ring remains intact with the shards of the axe all around it. Whispers in the black tongue issue forth from the Ring.
"The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Glóin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came" Elrond explains. "One of you must do this" he states.
"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland. Riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly" Boromir states.
"Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The Ring must be destroyed!" Legolas exclaims.
"And I suppose you think you're the one to do it?!" Gimli demands.
"And if we fail, what then?! What happens when Sauron takes back what is his?!" Boromir demands.
"I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!" Gimli shouts. A commotion starts as arguments erupt amongst the council members. "Never trust an Elf!" he shouts.
'Enough!' I shout in all their heads as Frodo tried to get their attention. 'We are might to stand united or we fall. Not be fighting amongest ourselves' I snap. 'Now listen to Frodo, he has something to say' I tell them. 'Go ahead Frodo' I tell him in a gentle tone.
"I will take the Ring to Mordor. Though — I do not know the way" Frodo admits.
"I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins, as long as it is yours to bear" Gandalf tells him. As he goes to stand beside him. Aragorn goes and kneels in front of Frodo.
"If by my life or death, I can protect you, I will" Aragorn tells Frodo. He stands. "You have my sword" he states.
"And you have my bow" Legolas adds as he joins the forming group.
"And my axe!" Gimli declares.
"You carry the fate of us all little one. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done" Boromir states. I step forward and look up at Frodo.
'One from each group will go with you on this quest Master Baggins. So I will represent my home, you have my gifts' I tell him.
"Thank you" he says grateful. I go stand beside Aragorn. Suddenly another hobbit jumps out of the bushes and I smile. I knew he and the other two had been listening this whole time.
"Mister Frodo is not goin' anywhere without me!" he declares. As he stands beside Frodo, arms crossed. He nods at Frodo, who smiles.
"No indeed, it is hardly possible to separate you even when he is summoned to a secret council and you are not" Elrond says mildly amused.
'Not the only eavesdropper' I tell him. He looks at me confused. As two other hobbits emerges from behind the pillars to join us.
"Wait! We are coming too!" they shout. As they go stand on Frodo's other side.
"You'd have to send us home tied up in a sack to stop us!" the taller one states.
"Anyway you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission, quest... thing" the shorter one adds. I giggle silently. As the other muttered something to him.
"Ten companions... So be it! You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring!" Elrond declares.
"Great, where are we going?" the short hobbit asks. I laugh. Elrond said there'd be a feast tonight in our honour and that we'd leave at dawn tomorrow.
