Credit for this story idea goes to @WhimperingGirl244. She came up with the idea, who the oc is and what she looks like. Sarah Angel Gilbert, is a quiet eighteen year old girl in her senior year. She is adopted, but knows nothing of her biological parents. Except that the necklace she always wears belonged to her biological mother. She is used to being invisible, as she has weird visions and dreams. She had pretty much zero friends, spent most of her time studying. When she wasn't with her family, even they seem to forget her sometimes. But she's used to it.

Aside from the weird visions. She had a pretty normal life. But then she and her little sister Elena got kidnapped. And Sarah meets her biological father. She discovers her dreams and visions of the supernatural is all real. That she is a seer. She is reluctant to accept her biological father, but he is hell bent on protecting her and spoiling her. Making sure she never feels alone again.

(Season 2, Episode 8: Rose) Sarah's POV

You know I thought it'd be fun to go to the masquerade party at the Lockwoods. Despite the weird dream I had about it. In the dream there was a vampire that looked like Elena fighting the Salvatore brothers. Who were also vampires. Bonnie was there too and another woman. Both were witches. Elena was in the dream, she started bleeding from thin air. I always thought my dreams were that, dreams.

Until I saw Elena in the parking lot heading to her car. I went after her when I noticed the blood on her. I wanted to make sure my little sister was ok. Instead we both get kidnapped. I don't get it, why would anyone want to kidnap us?

While Elena and I were unconscious. I had an other dream of three strangers. A woman and two men. Their names with Rose, Trevor and Elijah. I was in the dream as well with Elena. Which is strange, as I never dream about myself. Only about those around me. In the dream Elijah, claimed to be my biological father. But that's impossible he's to young, looks to be mid twenties. Apparently Elena was a key to some sort of curse and has to be sacrificed. Elijah beheaded Trevor after setting Rose free.

Anyway, I woke up with a start in a room beside an unconscious Elena. I look around and see we're in the room from my dream. This was the room where Trevor loses his head. But it was just a dream. I shake Elena gently and she wakes. She goes to speak and I signal her to be quiet.

We leave the room silently. We try to find a way out. But I freeze when I hear the voices from my dream. I peak around the corner to see Trevor and Rose from my dream. But how could they be here? Did they kidnap us? Why? Elena and I eavesdrop.

"So that's it Trevor. He either got it or he didn't. We just have to wait" Rose tells Trevor.

"Look, it's not too late. We can leave it here. We don't have to go through with this" Trevor tells her sounding scared. Well if what I saw in my dream was real, he has good reason to be scared. Because he is about to die.

" I'm sick of running!" Rose exclaims.

"Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying" he snaps back at her.

"Elijah's old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free" Rose tells him. Elena accidentally makes one of the boards squeak. I give her a pointed look as Rose spots us. "You two! There's nothing around here for miles. If either of you think you're getting out of this house, you're tragically wrong. Understand?" she asks.

"Who's Elijah?" Elena asks her.

"He's your worst nightmare" Rose tells her.

"Elena, what the hell is going on?" I demand as we're left alone.

"I'm sorry Sarah, I never wanted you or Aunt Jenna involved in this" she tells me.

"In what?" I ask her.

"What I'm about to tell you may sound crazy, but I swear it's true" she tells me. "Vampires exist, so do werewolves and witches. Those two are vampires and for some reason they kidnapped us" she states.

"You're not lying" I say.

"I'm sorry Sarah, I never wanted you involved" she tells me.

"Ok, answer a few questions for me please" I tell her.

"I will later, I want to know why we were kidnapped" she tells me.

"Rose doesn't seem in a chatty mood" I tell her.

"I don't care, we deserve answers" she states.

"So do I" I tell her firmly. "But I know how stubborn you are, so I will wait for you to question Rose" I state. She smiles and heads into the other room. I follow and we see Rose boarding up windows. I wonder why?

"Why are we here?" Elena asks Rose. As I wait by the door silently.

"You keep asking me these questions like I'm gonna answer them" Rose states.

"Why won't you?" Elena asks.

"There's another one" Rose says.

"You got us, okay? It's not like we can go anywhere. The least you can do is tell me what you want with us" Elena tells her.

"I personally want nothing; I'm just a delivery service" Rose tells her.

"Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena asks.

"Two points to the eavesdropper" Rose says.

"Who is he? Is he a vampire?" Elena asks.

"He's one of the vampires, the originals" Rose states. Ok, so he maybe older then he looks. But everything I've read about vampires say they can't have children. Though who knows what's real or fiction anymore. I just learned that all my dreams maybe real and have happened. Which means the one I had earlier while Elena and I were unconscious could be real. It's a lot to take in.

"What do you mean the originals?" Elena asks Rose curious.

"Again with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" Rose asks her.

"So you know Stefan and Damon?" Elena asks her. So the Salvatores are vampires, like in my dreams. That's one question answered. Though that still leaves many unanswered questions.

"I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys though but I digress" Rose explains. Bad boys are hot, honestly I never had much time for boys. I preferred focusing on studying, which made dad happy.

"Who are the originals?" Elena asks her.

"Trevor and I have been running for 500 years. We're tired, we want it over. We're using you and your sister to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess" Rose states.

"But, why us?" Elena stresses.

"Because you're a Petrova Doppelgänger. You're the key to breaking the curse. And as for your sister, Elijah has been looking for her for years. No idea why" Rose states. It's because he thinks I'm his daughter. Which is crazy.

"The curse? The sun and the moon curse?" Elena asks. I've heard of that, I was studying for extra credit. I choose occult, it related to witches and mystical powers. During my research, I came across an image of an Aztec curse, called the Sun and Moon Curse. It was placed on werewolves and vampires by a shaman a 1000 years ago. I've always been fascinated by the supernatural, but never thought it was real. Even with my dreams or visions.

"Oh, you do know your history" Rose says.

"What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse" Elena states.

"No, the moonstone is what binds the curse. The sacrifice is what breaks it" Rose tells her matter of factly.

"The sacrifice?" Elena asks.

"The blood of the doppelgänger. You're the doppelgänger. Which means, in order to break the curse you're the one who has to die" Rose tells her. Elena tries to digest this information and I decide to ask a question.

"So you really have no idea why Elijah wants me?" I ask her. She looks at me.

"No idea, I only know he has been looking for the owner of that necklace" she states pointing to my necklace. It had belonged to my biological mother. She died when I was a baby. She left me on the Gilberts door step. With only my name Sarah Angel and the necklace. Mum and dad gave it to me on my 18th birthday. When they told me I was adopted. That was a week before they died. I never told Elena or Jeremy about me being adopted.

"Tell me more" Elena tells her. Trevor appears and grabs a wooden board.

"Captivity has made her pushy, eh? What do you want to know doppelicious?" he asks Elena.

"Who are you running from?" Elena asks.

"The originals" he tells her.

"Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?" Elena asks him.

"The first family, the old world. Rose and I pissed them off" Trevor states. Rose gives him a pointed look. "Correction, I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for over half a millennium, they wanted us dead" he states. Ok, that explains why Elijah kills him and not Rose. But when does it happen? It must be soon. My dream happened in this house.

"What did you do?" Elena asks.

"He made the same mistake countless others did: he trusted Katerina Petrova" Rose states.

"Katherine" Elena says. So that's true too. There's a vampire that looks exactly like Elena called Katherine. Well more accurately Elena looks like her. That's what a doppelganger is. An apparition or double of a living person. And if Katherine was born first, then that makes Elena her doppelganger. Not the other way around.

"The one and only, the first Petrova Doppelgänger" Rose states. So there was someone else before Katherine, that had her and Elena's face. Her blood must have been used when the curse was created. Which is why another doppelganger has to die to break it.

"I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since" Trevor explains.

"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again" Rose states. Elena takes me back to the room we woke up in.

"Ok, I got some answers. But I still have a few questions" I tell Elena. "Is Bonnie a witch?" I ask and she nods her head. "And Mason Lockwood was a werewolf?" I ask her.

"Yes, but how did you know? I never told you, did Jeremy?" she asks.

"I have dreams" I tell her. "I thought they were fake, that I read to much fiction. But now I think they maybe real. Though I need to compare some facts with you" I tell her.

"Wait you have dreams?" she asks.

"All the time, since mum and dad died. I actually dream about their death and how you survived. It was Stefan" I state.

"You're right, but how?" she asks. I shrug.

"Was that there before?" I ask pointing to a piece of crunched up paper. She grabs it and unfolds it. It was a note to us. Stefan and Damon are coming for you both. -B. "Bonnie?" I ask and she nods her head. I am pulled into a vision, my dream changes. Instead of us being taken by Elijah. Stefan and Damon save us, and kill Elijah. Elijah never tells me he is my biological father. I rub my head as I am brought back to the present.

"If you have dreams, have you had one about this house?" she asks. I nod my head. Before she can ask another question. Rose and Trevor appear. Trevor looks scared out of his mind. This is it. This is where my dream began.

"He's here! This was a mistake" he states.

"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me" Rose tells him.

"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" he shouts. True.

"He wants them more" she tells him. Nodding to Elena and I.

"I can't do this. You give them to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here" he tells her. He goes to leave, but Rose stops him and has him face her.

"Hey! What are we?" she asks him.

"We're family, forever" he answers. Someone knocks on the door. We all look towards the sound.

"You're scared" Elena states.

"Stay here with them and don't make a sound" Rose tells Trevor. Before going to answer the door. As she does so, I remember the next part of my dream. Her talk with Elijah.

(Dream)

"Rose-Marie. Is there somewhere we can talk?" Elijah asked after opening the door.

"Yes, in here. You have to forgive the house" Rose tells him. And leads him to the room that she and Trevor had been boarding up.

"Oh, no, what's a little dirt? I completely understand. So tell me, what is it that gives you the courage to call me?" Elijah asked her as they enter the room.

"I wanted my freedom. I'm tired of running. You in a position to grant me that?" Rose asked him.

"I have complete authority to grant pardon to you and your little pet. What is his name these days? Trevor. If I so see fit" Elijah told her.

"Katerina Petrova" Rose stated and Elijah sat telling her to proceed. "She didn't burn in the church in 1864" she told him.

"Continue" he instructed her.

"She survived" Rose told him.

"Where is she?" he asked her.

"You don't seem surprised by this" she stated.

"Oh, when you called and invited me into this armpit of civilization, which is a mere three hours from the town we know as Mystic Falls, I surmised it had everything to do with Katerina. Do you have her in your possession?" Elijah asked.

"No, but I have better. I have her doppelgänger" Rose told him.

"That's impossible, her family line ended with her. I know that for fact" he stated.

"The facts are wrong" she told him boldly.

"Well, show her to me" he told her.

"Elijah, you are a man of honor, you should be trusted but I want to hear you say it again" she told him.

"You have my word that I will pardon you" he assured her. He said nothing about Trevor. Bing very careful with his words.

(Present)

I'm pulled back to the present by the sound of a door opening. We all look to see Elijah and Rose entering the room. Elijah looks at Elena. He's surprised and rushes over to her. He looks at her and smells her neck. "Human. It's impossible. Hello there" he says with a smile. He then looks at me zeroing in on my necklace. I grab it with my hand. "Who are you? Where did you get that necklace?" he demands.

"It's mine, my mother gave it to me" I state.

"Who was your mother?" he asks.

"Miranda Gilbert" I state.

"You're lying" he states. "Her name was Angel Smith" he states.

"No, Miranda Gilbert is my mother. She raised me, along with my dad Grayson Gilbert" I tell him. He looks a little frustrated by me denying who my birth mother is.

"We'll discuss this later, we three have a long journey ahead of us" he states.

"Please, don't let him take us" Elena pleads looking at Rose.

"One last piece of business and we're done" Elijah states.

"Can I wait out of the room? I rather not see what's about to happen" I tell him.

"Afraid not, you can't be trusted not to run" he states.

"You have my little sister, do you really think I'd leave her behind?" I ask him gesturing to Elena. "I give you my word" I tell him.

"That doesn't mean anything until you live up to it" he states and gestures to the door. "You may wait just outside the door. But Elena stays" he tells me. I nod and go upstairs as he turns to Trevor.

"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry" I hear Trevor say. Before I exit the room. I don't shut the door, that way they can see me. But I don't see them as I keep my back to the room. I can still hear everything though.

"Oh no, your apology's not necessary" Elijah tells him.

"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you" Trevor states.

"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor. Where was your loyalty?" Elijah asks him.

"I beg your forgiveness" Trevor tells him.

"So granted" Elijah tells him. I hear a smack and sickly thud of Trevor's head hitting the ground. I shake the image from my mind. Trying not to remember the vivid image of my dream. "Don't, Rose, now that you are free" he tells her. "Come" he says.

"No, what about the moonstone?" Elena asks him. So the moonstone is real too.

"What do you know about the moonstone?" Elijah asks her.

"I know that you need it and I know where it is" she tells him.

"Yes" he says.

"I can help you get it" she tells him.

"Tell me where it is" he tells her.

"It doesn't work that way" she states.

"Are you negotiating with me?" he asks amused.

"It's the first I've heard of it" Rose tells him.

"Same" I say not turning around.

"What is this vervain doing around your neck?" Elijah demands. He hear something small and metallic hit the floor. "Tell me where the moonstone is" he says.

"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins" Elena says in a monotone.

"What's it doing there?" he asks her.

"It's with Katherine" she states.

"Interesting" he says. We hear breaking glass from upstairs. Elijah appears beside me, grabing my arm. "What is that?" he asks Rose.

"I don't know" she tells him.

"Who else is in this house?" he demands.

"I don't know" she tells him.

"Grab Elena and follow me" he orders. She does so and we march towards the front door. As we reach it, Elijah passes me to Rose. "Rose" he says.

"I don't know who it is" she tells him.

"Up here" Stefan says. Elijah goes up the stairs with his super speed. I look at him surprised, so it's real. Vampires exist.

"Down here" Damon says. While Elijah is distracted, he receives a stake to the hand. Rose, Elena and I are grabbed. Damon grabbed Rose and I. While Stefan got Elena, just like my vision. Damon signals Rose and I to be quiet.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" Elijah asks. I hear wood breaking. He must be breaking the coat rack from my vision. "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the two girls, I'm gonna count to three or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?" he asks.

"I'll come with you, just please don't my friends, they just wanted to help me out" I hear Elena say. I go to leave and Damon holds me back. Shaking his head.

"What game are you playing with me? Where's your sister?" I hear Elijah demands. Followed by an explosion. I cover my ears at the sound. Damon leaves Rose and I. When we follow we find Elijah dead staked to the wall. Rose left and Damon went to follow.

"Just let her go" Elena tells him and he does so. Damon smiles up at her and she smiles. She runs down the stairs to go to Stefan's arms.

"Hey come here. Are you hurt? Are you okay?" he asks her concerned. She embraces him and looks at Damon. She mouths a 'thank you' and Damon mouths a 'you're welcome'.

"So I guess the cat is out of the bag" Damon says looking at me.

"Yep" I say.

"Who are you anyway?" he asks confused.

"She's my older sister" Elena tells him.

"You have another sibling?" Damon and Stefan ask surprised.

"I don't get out much" I mumble. "Can we go home now?" I ask. They agree and we leave. As we leave the house, I look back at Elijah one last time. Is he really my biological father or not? Guess now I'll never know. Damon drives us all home. Where we're greeted by Bonnie and Jeremy. Bonnie hugs Elena and Jeremy hugs me.

"Are you both ok?" Jeremy asks us concerned.

"I'm ok, we both are" Elena assures him.

"Though I now know the truth, we'll talk about it at another time" I tell him.

"We got your message" Elena tells Bonnie with a smile. Bonnie cries and embraces her again. Then, Jeremy embraces Elena and kisses her forehead. I thanked the Salvatores for saving us and bringing us home safely. Before going upstairs to write in my dream journal. In it, is every dream or vision I've ever had. Dad had gotten us all journals when we were kids. Elena wrote in her's like a diary, Jeremy used his as a sketch book and I myself never had a use for it. Until my parents died and I started to have dreams. So now I write them all down, every detail so that I don't forget them.
