Not just yet

"How far is this temple?"

Three teens walked through the dry grass in the sun. Aang was annoyed with the sweaty hair sticking to him as Katara had her long thick hair up in a bun to keep off.

"We should reach there by sun down, this is a lot farther without a glider or appa," Aang wiped the sweat from his head and the two girls collapsed in the dirt with a groan.

"I need to sit," Suki waved her hand to her face feeling exhausted.

"We haven't stopped since last night, we need a break," Katara agreed with a heavy sigh.

Aang agreed and sat with them when they found tree to sit under before they get heat stroke.

They didn't talk much throughout the night, Katara checked on Aang, he told her about his break out at the fire nation prison that was a little to easy with water bending and used an air scooter to get to the Capitol before he found them. They were outside the capital walls by the time the eclipse ended. Outside the abandoned city and only could see smoke from the palace.

Katara was silent as she held her comb in her lap and was in her own thoughts. Her heart was heavy. It's only been hours and she felt like she's missing apart of herself.

A tear trickled down her cheek and she wiped it quickly before anyone noticed. It's fine, Zuko is alive, he's fine, they had to get to the temple where Sokka was.

"Come on, let's go," Katara sniffled wiping under her nose and got back to her feet ignoring the painful blisters from walking.

"We just sat down," Aang whined flopping on his back.

"We need to get to the temple by sun down, we need to go," she told them as Suki groaned a little but got up anyways.

"Katara wait, I know your mad, but-" "I'm not mad," Katara looked back at Suki with a frown.

"Do you, uh do you want to talk about it?" Suki offered awkwardly.

"About what?" Katara forced a smile.

"I don't think she wants to talk about it," Aang whispered hiding behind Suki.

"Im sorry," Suki sighed in defeat.

"Why?" She didn't understand the apology.

"Im not sorry for lying but I'm sorry for misjudging you, and Zuko," Suki shrugged crossing her arms.

"Also sorry for ruining your wedding day, that was a shit move," she mumbled as Aang snapped his head at her surprised.

"To be fair i didn't know till the morning so maybe you should apologize to Zuko for the day," Katara pursed her lips and the red head smiled at that.

"If it's alright with You, I don't think I'll go back to kyoshi island yet," the warrior nodded walking a little to catch up with Katara.

"You want to stay in the fire nation?" Katara raised a brow at her.

"No, i want to stay with You and the avatar, I can't just go home after this, not with the war still going on," Suki shook her head and the water bender smiled a little at that.

"You trust a traitor enough to stick around with me?" Katara teased a little.

"Ugh fine, your not a traitor for marrying the enemy," Suki threw her head back making Aang laugh a little.

"I'm so excited to see Yue and appa again, I wish I could've sent her letters," Aang smiled at the girls and Katara nodded smiling.

"I'm sure she'll understand," Katara hummed.

"Who's Yue?" Suki asked.

"The princess of the northern water tribe, she's about yours or zukos age," Katara nodded looking over at her.

"Why didn't zuko marry her if she's older?" Suki was confused.

"She's already married to some jerk off that hates fire nation more than you," Katara waved it off and Suki tsked understanding a little more.

"Hey Suki how is kyoshi, I stopped by two or three years ago," Aang asked keeping them conversation going.

"Oh they're great, I know when you came around they got a whole new attitude on the war and actually felt alive again there, you gave them hope," Suki smiled at him. When he was younger Aang was a bit smaller but now he was probably only an inch shorter than Katara and same height at Suki.

"And they actually got stronger when you were captured, no one gave up on you Aang," Suki tapped the top of his head with a giggle and Aang was overjoyed at their success, being a recantation of their beloved kyoshi he had to stop by the island and see it for himself. As well as omashu and other places to sight see.

That's probably why Zuko was chasing him for so long.

Aang glanced over at Katara as they walked through the dirty and feeling the sun beating down on them. She looked stressed and tired, he knew she was tricked thinking the eclipse wasn't coming till next week. He wondered if they ever confessed if they had feelings for each other.

He couldn't blame Zuko if he fell for Katara, she was beautiful, she might be the most beautiful girl he's ever seen, she was confident and strong and had passion in her heart. But her skin and her hair were flawless and her eyes made him stand on his toes. He blushed being around by a woman like that. He's never thought someone could.

"Are there any towns close?" Katara asked the two.

"Why?" Suki asked.

"I just want to see if there's any news on the eclipse," she shrugged a little.

"You mean on the Agni kai?" Aang asked softly. Katara nodded looking down anxiously.

"Hey, zukos going to be alright, he's probably going to send a messenger hawk to your brother where we're suppose to meet saying he won," Aang put a hand on her shoulder with a comforting smile. Katara smiled back a little agreeing.

But somehow she didn't believe him.

Something felt off in the air. She knew this war isn't over just yet.
