[Sylvians pov]
The scuttling of little paws awakes me from my slumber and I yawn, blinking my eyes against the darkness. Another day has arisen it appears, this would be the fifth day I have stayed here, but then again, I can't tell, I cannot count. Shaking my head of dust and moisture and a quick scratch to my ear I stand and snort as the dust tickles my snout. Against the stone I scrape my claws, sharpening them to a point and now I sit still, waiting for the mice and rats to come out so I may feast. A good while later I lick my jaws of the last juices of mouse, a bit furry but I will not complain. Only one was my meal because...well I am not quite the hunter yet.
A door creaks open echoing against the stone walls. Quickly I hide in the shadows afraid of who enters.
"Sylvian?..." a familiar voice calls softly. " Are you in here?"
A familiar smell floods my senses. It is Father Thranduil! But why has he come?
"Sylvian. This is the final place I have looked for you. I know you have to be here. Why do you linger in the shadows?"
Slowly and carefully, inch by inch I come out and stand before him. I shake in fear for I have a feeling he is angry with me. Suddenly, without warning, Father Thranduil kneels on the floor and wraps me in his arms. He is not angry, he was worried.
"Oh Sylvian..." He murmured. "We were so worried. We have been looking everywhere. Why did you flee?"
It is true. After, the little elf was born, I fled into the darkness of the deepest dungeon. Everyone had been scared of me and so I hid, so they would not have to look apon a dragon. But I had no idea why Mother Lanika and Father Thranduil had been worried. I felt too much of a burden to them.
"Please come back with me...It is all right. I told the whole kingdom of you and how you were born and that there is nothing to fear."
" r-re-real-ly?" I stutter out.
Father Thranduil looked in shock at me " I did not know or even guess you could talk!"
"I..Cou-ld...not....be-be-for..."
"Well come along. I think it's time you slept in a proper place and ate some real food."
As we left the dungeon I was almost blinded at how bright the palace was. Climbing onto his shoulder I sat there watching everything in wonder. But still, fear clung to me like a mist in the morning. Every time we passed another creature... similar to Father Thranduil, I hid under his robe. Once when we came apon another, he stopped and bowed in front of us.
" May I see the...the dragon, my Lord?"
Father Thranduil hesitated, then reached out and gently scooped me out of his robes. Hoping no one else were to touch me, I scurried along his arm and went straight back to my perch, on his shoulder.
"What a strange little thing..." the thing said. Long brown...something hung from its head. I suddenly wanted to play with it. Leaping from my perch I landed onto the other things shoulder. Sniffing his head, I examined this strange brown stuff that fell from his head. Placing a paw apon it I purred. It was soft! Like the blankets I used to sleep on. Oh! It was nice! Purring, I rubbed my head against it then licked it. EW! DID. NOT. TASTE. GOOD.
"Sylvian?! What on earth are you doing?" Father Thranduil said.
"She does seem fascinated with my hair..." the thing commented.
"H-h-air?" I said. "H-hair?"
"Yes. It is called hair little dragon." I was gently held in the beings arms. He stroked my back softly making me arch my back and purr. I liked this creature it was nice to me.
But soon, I had to go back with father Thranduil. Later I learned that those who lived here were called elves and the one whose hair I liked, his name was named Linthir. Mother Lanika was overjoyed to see me. Both mother and father gave me a heaping plate of raw meat and returned me back to my bed of blankets.
It would seem for now I could be at peace, yet still many things inside me stirred about. I knew the elves were scared of me, and it made me sad. Perhaps I would ask Father Thranduil why they are so scared of me, but in all honesty, i was just as scared of them as they were of me...After all....elves killed my mother.
