"Kate. Kaaaate. KAITLYN CHARLOTTE TEARS WAKE UP NOW! WE'RE GOING TO THE GREAT ESCAPE IN MASSACHUSETTS TODAY!"

"Really?" I shoot up out of bed. "Ya! Your aunt finished packing last night and so now we have all of today to have fun!!!!!" Wow this is great news I can't wait to ride all of the rides!

Man I feel really tired right now though. 3 AM! Wait a minute. "Leah it's 3 AM!" "Ya and it's a 3 hour drive so let's get ready!" "Fine."

We put on our bathing suits and then our tank top and shorts. We both wear our flip flops too. We then grab our small bags that we used as school bags yesterday and put a water bottle, sun screen, a towel, dry clothes, a Walmart bag for wet clothes, a light jacket, sun glasses, goggles, disposable camera, a notebook, and a pencil in them.

The park opens at 7:00am today so we have to leave by 4:00am the latest. Right now it's only 3:21am so we still have time. The next thing we do is brush and braid hair, then we make our breakfast to pack for later. We both decide to make egg sandwiches.

After we pack our breakfast we make everyone else's too because we have nothing else to do. We finally finish this at 3:47am. Leah's parents and brother are just finishing getting dressed when there's a knock on the door.

Ben goes to the door to answers it. "Well hello Sarah. Are you ready to go to the theme park?" He asks. "Why yes, yes I am" I hear my aunt answer. She walks in and sits down only to stand back up. It's now 3:53am so we head out to the car.

We take the van so that all of us will fit. Leah, Zach and I in the back, my aunt in the middle, and Silvia and Ben up front. Ben is driving, Silvia is asleep, my aunt is enjoying her space and also fell asleep. Leah slowly went to sleep, somehow Zach was wide awake, and as for me I was dozing off.

My eyes are getting heavy and very sleepy. Just as I'm about to doze off Zach leans over and says, "So, you excited or what?" "Excited" I respond hopping that he'll let me sleep now. Nope, way wrong! "Do you think you'll miss the cold and snow when you move?" This caught me off guard I wasn't expecting to talk about the move.

"I....Um..I'm not really sure, maybe? I hadn't really thought about it." I stumbled out. When there was no response I continue "I mean I will definitely miss building snowmen, sledding down the hill behind the
rec-center, snowball fights, and snow forts!" I smile as I say this "So, ya, I guess I will mis the cold and snow, but I think I'll miss the people I normally do those things with more."

I finish and sigh, it feels good to get that out finally. "Ya I would too." Zach finally says breaking the awkward silence. "Ya" I say.

"Well sorry for keeping you awake you should probably get some sleep it's already 4:30." Zach says. The problem with this is I'm in the middle of Leah and Zach so I don't have a place to really put my pillow and fall asleep, but I'm sooooo tiered I will fall asleep anywhere at this point.

"Here" Zach says and scoots over a hair "use my shoulder and the back seat to put your pillow on. I'm going to stay awake anyway so it won't bother me." I hesitate for a second, but I'm really tiered and Zach is like a brother to me so I don't even care and just do as he says.

The next time I open my eyes it's 6:50 and we are about three minutes from the park. I look up and notice Zach is now asleep as well.

Awwwwww, he looks so peaceful and cute when he sleeps. Wait WHAT!!

"Hay Kaitlyn." Leah says while yawning awake. "Um m-morning Leah" I stutter. Luckily Leah hasn't noticed.

"Girls will you wake up Zach we're here now?" Ben asks "sure thing" Leah replies and smiles evilly. I lean forward so that Leah can smack her brother awake. She always enjoys doing that, especially for school mornings.

"Owwwwww!!!" I hear Zach say. Leah just shrugs and smiles confidently. I lean back and grab my bag. Leah grabs her's too. She is the first one of the three of us to get out. Everyone else is already out.

"So" Zach begins while grabbing his bag, "did you sleep good?" "Um Y-Ya really good, Th-thanks." I say "don't sweat it. Hey I think we should head out so we can go ride some rides what about you?" He asks. "Ya that sounds good" I answer.

Ugggg it's like I can't talk to him. Just because my stupid mind thinks he is cute. Well I mean he kinda is now that I'm NO! No no no no no. Let's just try to get through the day, okay Kaitlyn?

"Kaitlyn come over here so I can put sun screen on you" I obediently walk over to my aunt and let her spray my body with sun screen. "Alright now give me your hands so you can do your face." My aunt says as she sprays some sun screen in my hands. I rub it all over my face, neck, and ears.

"Okay, so I have mine, Ben's, Leah's, and Zach's passes. Sarah do you have Kaitlyn's and money for yours?" Silvia asks. "Yup all here." my aunt replies.
"Alright then let's go ride some roller coasters!" Silvia says.

We all grab our bags and head for the tram. Because we got here super early no one is waiting in line. We also get a good parking spot because of it. We walk right on to the tram and take our seats. I sit on the edge next to Leah. I try to put as much distance as I can between Zach and I.

"Hello everyone and welcome to Six Flags New England. I hope you enjoy your day here with the many rides and carnival games. Also don't forget to check out some of our restaurants like Jonny Rockets. Also don't forget that our season passes are on sale right now so get them while you can!"

After the lady on the intercom finishes speaking we stop and get off. We walk up the M&M stairs and down another flight of them. We then walk over to the bag check line. There are three other families here checking bags, but there is still an open bag checking table.

"Bag please." requests the bag checking man. We all place our bags on the table. "You're good." he says as he finishes checking our bags.

We walk to the ticket checker thing and then walk in to the park. "Wow, it's been a while since I've been here!" "Kate you came here with me for my birthday last month, Remember?" Leah says reminding me. "Oh ya sorry. Hay where's my aunt?" I don't see her anywhere. Where could she be? Oh! "Um never mind I just remembered she had to buy her ticket" I say.

We walk over to the nearest bench and wait for everyone ( my aunt ) to be done and ready.

"Okay girls so the time right now is 7:16 and we are giving you till lunch at 12:00 to go do what ever you want. Just remember that we only gave you 30$ each to spend for the whole day. Understood?" Leah and I nod after Silvia finishes.

"Well then off you go just remember to meet us back here at the front for lunch. We'll go out to eat then come back and play a little more before leaving." and with that we head straight for the first ride in the park. The Carousal.

The Carousal is really fun and we ride it like 10 times since no one else is there still. After that we head straight for batman. By now a few more people are showing up and we almost have a full cart.

The next ride is Mind Eraser. "Have you road this before?" Leah asks "No. You?" "No." We get to ride front row because out of all the people in the park only us and a few other families are riding Mind Eraser.

We wait for the gates to open and then enter. Mind Eraser is one of those rides were your feet dangle and the tops of the seats are hooked to the track. We hop in are seats, pull the safety bar down, and buckle ourselves in. The workers come around to check that we are all good and before I knew it we are off.

We go up, down and upside down. All the while my head banging against the sides of my seat. We finally stop with a jerk. My head flinging forward in the process, which doesn't help my new headache.

I look over at Leah. She looks just as bad as me. "Headache?" I ask Leah. She slowly nods, "Me too. Let's agree not to ride this anymore today, deal?" I say "Deal." She replies.

Luckily I have packed some Advil in my bag so we each take one and head to the next ride. "Well it's 8:00 now so we still have a lot of time. What ride do you want to ride?" Leah asks. By now the park is pretty packed, but I really want to ride Goliath. "Can we try Goliath?" I ask. "Of course. I love that one!" Leah says. Then she sees the two hour wait for it. "Well good thing we brought our iPods." Is all she says before we head over to the long line.

For two hours we play flappy bird, subway surfers, run sack boy run, and mincraft. We finally get up to the lanes and decide we've waited this long so why not wait a little bit longer for front row.

After another 30 minutes we finally get to go on. We put our iPods in our bags and put our bags in the cubbies. Then we sit in our seats. That's when my nerves kick in. I have forgotten how scary this thing is. I mean you you go straight up in to the air backwards! Then drop down, go upside down(this is going forward), and then do the whole coaster over again but this time fully backwards!

Leah being the great friend she is noticed my sudden terror. "Hey don't be nervous it's just a ride. Oh and don't forget to have F.E.A.R." I smile and laugh a little.

Leah and I have been on this ride called the Sky Coaster at the Great Escape in Lake Gorge. It is one of those rides you have to pay for. It pulls you up to the top of this really tall tower while you are on your stomach and then drops you. It's like when you lay on your stomach on a swing set and you swing back and forth.

Well anyways after doing that we both bought a T-shirt from their minnie gift shop. The shirts said F.E.A.R. on them it stands for Forget Everything And Ride. So we kinda made it our thing, whenever we're scared to ride a coaster we F.E.A.R.

"Thanks Leah I needed that." "No problem. So hands up?" "Definitely!"
We throw are hands in the air and don't take them down until the ride ends. Thanks to Leah I'm not as nervous going down the drops and loops. In fact I have a blast and want to go again, but the line got even longer so we just grab our bags and leave.

We go to Cat Woman's Whip next because the line is a 5 minute wait. The ride is really short but still fun so we ride it twice. After that the line gets longer so instead we go ride Gothem City. The wait is about 30 minutes, but totally worth it.

Once we are done with that ride we realize that the time is 11:30. So we start making our way towards the front entrance. On the way we decide if they aren't there yet we will ride the Carousel until they show up.

By the time we get there it was 11:45 and they aren't there yet so we ride the Carousel. We ride it 5 times before they finally show up.

"There you are girls, we were thinking Subway for lunch is that okay?" Ben Asks "Ya that sounds great" we say. "Good then let's go eat."

We walk to the entrance and get our stamp so that we can come back in later.  Then we walk to the car and drive to Subway. Everyone sits in the same seats which is fine until I remembered this morning.

"Hey" I jump a bit when Zach speaks. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you." He says sympathetically. "No it's fine." I say reassuring him. "So did you and Leah have fun?" He asks. "Um y-ya"

Man why did it have to be so awkward talking to him now? I mean he's like my brother I should be able to talk to him. I just wish my stupid head had never thought he was cute. Well I mean it wasn't wrong he is cute, but he's like family. I shouldn't be falling for him. Ugggg where's momma when I need her. She would know what to do, she could tell me if my feelings were wrong or right.

My thoughts are interrupted by Leah. "Kate we're here come on let's go eat." "Alright, wait up." I say and follow her in to Subway. Her parents and my Aunt order for us while we find a table with Zach.

"What about these two?" Zach asks. "Ya that's fine." Leah says. Since there are 6 of us we have to sit at two different tables so we grab two that are next to each other.

The three of us sit down at one and the grownups sit at the other. We begin eating are food, but of course not in silence. "So" Zach says then takes a bite and swallows before continuing. "What was the best ride you road so far?" Leah swallows and takes a drink then answers "Well mine was Batman, but I don't know about Kaitlyn." I swear it felt like I had a hundred eyes turn their attention to me. I swallow my food with a big gulp and then speak, "Um I think it was probably Goliath. It was really fun and I'd like to ride it again today if the line shortens." I say leaving out the part about me being afraid to ride it at first.

Leah looks at me confused, "Really? Because after you freaked out I thought  that you wouldn't want to ride it again, especially today." I am screaming at her in my mind. I mean I'm 14 years old, I shouldn't have gotten scared over some roller coaster.

Wait why do I care that she told him. Great not only do now have feelings for my closest guy friend but I also care what he thinks of me. Where's Kaitlyn and what have I done with her.

Leah interrupts my thoughts "Kate are you okay?" She whispers the next part "you're turning red." Great just great. "Ya I'm fine I um just have to go to the bathroom so I'll be right back."

"You know what a bathroom break sounds great. You coming Leah?" Zach says. She stands up and nods. Leah and I walk into the girls and Zach in the boys. As soon we are in and the door shuts Leah turns to me with a concerned face.

"What's going on you're acting weird and today is are last day we have together. Your face turned red, it never turns red unless your embarrassed. So what did I say that embarrassed you?"

After she finishes talking it takes me a second to answer. First I make sure no one else is in there and then "Okay I know I've been acting weird and I'm really sorry it's just that I think......I think I have feelings for someone and I don't know how to handle it. I've never had a boyfriend and I've never really liked guys so much to were they make me feel........different."

She takes a moment to take in my words then slowly a smile appears on her face. "You like someone! Wait you still didn't tell me how I embarrassed you. I mean it's not like the guy you like is here so why. Unless......no never mind it's a crazy idea." She says. "Leah you know there is nothing you can't say to me, we're best friends, what is it?"

Here it comes I know she knows now, well I guess I might as well tell her. I mean now or never right. "Is it possible that the guy you now have feelings for is m-" she is cut off by the door opening reviling Silva. It doesn't matter though I already know what she was going to say. "Is it possible that the guy you have feelings for is my brother?"

"Girls it's time to leave if you want to go back to the park." Silvia says. "Sure thing we'll be right there mo-" Silvia cut her off "No, you'll come now. Let's go you've been in here for twenty minutes." "But mom we were kind of in the middle of someth-" this time I cut her off "Um actually were good. The answer to your question is yes."

Leah's eyes go wide "Girls I'm not sure what's going on, but we need to leave. Leah your brother is becoming inpatient." After Silvia finishes speaking we follow her out. Leah whispers in my ear, "Well at least you know a lot about him." I quietly laugh because for one it is funny, but also because I am happy that she isn't angry with me for liking her brother.

We hop in the car and drive back to Six Flags. By the time we get there the time is 1:58 and even though the park doesn't close until midnight tonight we are only staying till 8:30 because Aunt Sarah and I have to leave early tomorrow.

"Okay this time girls we want you to meet us at the Carousel at 8:30 so we can leave. Zach same goes for you since you're going off on your own this time. Just be safe and have fun. Alright you're free to go."

Ben, Silvia, and Aunt Sarah walk away leaving the three of us in an awkward silence or at least it is awkward for Leah and I. "Is it okay if I join you guys, I don't mind riding single on the two seater ones?" Zach says. Leah looks at me as if to say "are you okay with that?" I slightly nod to where only she can see.

"Ya that's fine." She finally gets out. "Alright what's first? Mind Eraser?" Zach asks. Leah and I quickly let out a loud "NO!" "Okay, I'm sensing you don't like that one so, how about um... Oh I know Boomerang!" Leah and I both agree to this because we love that ride, it's a classic, it's almost at every six flags park. It also happens to go upside down and backwards, it's like the easier version of Goliath.  AWESOME RIGHT?!!!!!

It takes us 30 minutes to find it because Leah says she knows where it is, yet she doesn't. When we finally get there though the line is a 30 minute wait so it gives us a break from walking for a bit.

When we make it to the front we agree we will take a random seat and not wait for the front. Leah and I sit with each other and Zach by himself. On the first drop Leah and I screamed our heads off for fun. The people in front of us are not too happy, but we didn't care.

After Boomerang we ride Batman and then a really cool water slide that I can't remember the name of. They're each two hours long so by the time we get off of the water slide we have about an hour and thirty minutes left.

So far I've been good at avoiding two things this whole day: 1. Zach and 2. Bazaro the scariest ride ever. I've never road it because I've been so terrified of it.

"So where to next?" Leah asks. "Well, Kaitlyn did say she wanted to ride Goliath again so we can try that and then see what time we have left." Ben suggests and we all agree. So we start to head that way.

Zach is walking a bit ahead of us so Leah and I get a chance to talk. "So, you really like him, huh?" She asks me. "I honestly don't know what I'm thinking at this point. I'm mean yes I do like him, but I don't know if it's wrong or not to like him." I say and she nods. "I get it, but if the reason you think it's wrong is because he's my brother and your best friend then it isn't wrong." She really understands me.

"An hour wait. Do you guys still wanna do it? We might still get another ride in afterwards if we try." Ben says and we immediately stop talking. "Ya we can chance it, there isn't really any other ride that we haven't road and want to ride anyways." I reply and we walk in line.

The line is moving very slow, right now we are completely stopped and only half way there. Leah bends down to tie her shoes and I stare off in the distance. "Hey so um I have a question to ask you." Ben says and I turn to face him. "Um okay, shoot." I stumble out. "If we get to ride one more ride can we ride together. It's just I haven't got to ride with you at all today and I have the perfect ride in mind, but that's if we even get to ride another." He says and I luckily the light is dim in here because I know I'm blushing. "Ya that should be fine, but what ride." Why did I just say that!

"I can't tell you, it's a surprise." He says with a huge grin on his face. I can't control my smile as it grows wider and wider. Thankfully Leah finally finishes tying her shoes and we end our conversation.

The line moves more quickly after that, so instead of us waiting an hour we wait 35 minutes. Leah and I hop in a cart and Zach hops in the one behind us.

After we finish Leah looks sick from doing all these upside down roller coasters. "I'm going to go to the bathroom you guys wait here okay?" She says and runs off before we can answer.

"Well obviously Leah won't be able to ride, but we do have time and you did say you would ride one ride with me." Zach says and my heart starts to beat fast. I had completely forgot about that and now Leah isn't here to help me. I can't speak at the moment so I nod. "Just text Leah and tell her we are going to go ride another ride before we leave." He says and hands me his phone, I nod again and text Leah exactly what he said to because he is watching me type it.

She replies with a 'K' and we head to the ride. "So are you going to tell me where we are going?" I ask still nervous about this whole thing. "About that, Leah said the only way I can get you there is to blind fold you. She said you wouldn't mind and plus I'll just hold your hand to guide you." After he says that I feel my heart quicken it's pace even more. I nod my head and he puts the blind fold on me.

I get tingles through my whole body as he grabs my hand and guides me to our destination. Right now I don't even care what ride it is all that matters at this very moment is Zach and I.

After a while we stop and start to walk more slowly. I guess we're mat the ride now. "How long is the wait?" I ask. "About fourth five minutes, but don't worry we're moving pretty fast." He says reassuring me.

Time passes by slowly and I'm starting to get board. We've been in this line for what feels like forever and I can't take it anymore, I want my sight back. "Zach are we almost to ten cart yet?" I ask. At first there is no response and then my blind fold is taken off. "Kaitlyn I need you to trust me and just get in the cart okay?" Zach asks and I nod.

I hop in to the cart pull down my bar and look forward. As soon as I do I freak out. I breathe in and out heavily and Zach notices this. "Kate." I ignore him because of my fear. "Kate." He says again this time taking his hand and turning my head in the process. "Kate, you can trust me just look into my eyes and everything will be fine." He says and I calm down a little bit.

The ride starts and I freak out once again. "Kate I have a confession to make." He says. "Well if we are going to die so do I." I say. "I'll go first." He pauses and I sense that he's nervous, but why? I'm mean we are on Bizzaro, climbing really high into the air, but he isn't afraid of this. He's road this before and loved it so why?

"Kaitlyn I have had a...um a...well you see I kind of...um man why is this so hard. Okay listen I like you. I always have I just wasn't sure how to tell you and then Leah found out and threatened me to tell you or she would. So we set this all up in hopes that you felt the same way, but if not I understand." My jaw literally drops to the floor. "You don't like me that way do you?" He asks. I'm still in shock so it takes me a minute to process his words.

"What? Oh, no I actually do feel that way, I'm just shocked that you do to, I thought you would think I'm too young or something." I sigh and look forward. We are almost to the top now.

Zach turns my head back towards him again. "Nothing could ever stop me from loving you." With that our lips lock and I don't even flinch as we go straight down the drop and the rest of the ride.

Zach and I finally pull apart right as the ride ends. We push the bars off our laps and leave hand in hand.

I will never be afraid of that ride again.

The rest of the nigh goes by in a blur. We all go back to Leah's house and fall asleep as soon as we get there. *tap tap* I open my eyes to see a crying Leah. I wrap my arms around her and give her a big hug.

"I don't want to lose you!" She sobs. "I don't want to lose you either!" I sob back now in tears. We stay like this for a while just crying into each other shoulders and then Leah pulls back. "I'm going to miss you. Zach's going to miss you to." She says and wiggles her eye brows causing me laugh.

"You know I will email you every single day and I will never forget you because you're unforgettable. You're amazing and you just so happen to be my best friend. You're not losing me for good so don't worry. I will come back, I promise." I say and she nods. We hug one more time and then fall back asleep.

Tomorrow I move to Florida with my Aunt Sarah. We leave at 7:00, which doesn't leave me much time to say goodbye, but I will make time because these people are worth it. I will never forget them, ever.
