It's been ten days since Leah and I packed up my bed room. Today is our last day of school and I'm really sad because this is my last chance to say goodbye to everyone. Well everyone except Leah I still have till Sunday with her and today is only Thursday.

Right now Leah and I are waiting for the bus. It's 7:26 and the bus gets here at 7:30. So we still have a few minutes left. "Ready for school? It's the last day, finally!" Leah says and smiles slightly. "Ya I can't wait. I'm really going to miss everyone though." I say softly trying not to sound to sad even though I am dying on the inside.

"Squeeeeeek" I turn my head toward the bus with squeaky breaks. Leah and I stand up and wait for it to come to a stop. When it finally does our bus driver Shela opens the door for us. Leah gets on first then me. "good morning girls how are you today" "Hanging in there" I say and Shela nods as if she understands. She is so nice, I take a seat next to Leah. Shela is just about to take off when Zach runs out of the house. Oops, Leah and I had forgotten about Zach.

I turn to Leah who is laughing so I laugh to. It is kind of funny that he almost missed the bus. Zach must of heard us laugh because now he walks over and sits with us making it very crowded. "Zach can't you sit somewhere else?" Leah says. Zach ignores her and just sits there. I then hear Leah let out an "ugh" before pulling out her iPhone to play Run Sack Boy Run. It's an awesome game based off of the game LBP (Little Big Planet). Momma and I use to play it for hours, that is before she was diagnosed with the cancer. A tear falls down my cheek and I wipe away.

Leah hasn't noticed because she is on her phone, but Zach has. "you okay?" "oh, um, Ya sorry I was just remembering something about my mom." "oh, Ya sorry. Is there anything I can do to help or get your mind off it?" "you can try if you want, but Leah's the only one that I have found that is able to do that." He smiles at this. "A challenge huh? Well I can't say no to that can I?" I smile then laugh. "Ha mission accomplished I have made you happy again" he says. "I guess it's just in my blood."

I was about respond when all of a sudden I hear the door of the bus open. "Alright everyone off. It's your last day of school so enjoy it!" Shela shouts. Zach hops off the bus, then me, and then Leah. Zach is a grade older so he goes to his class and Leah and I go to ours. We have A set together, it is Science with Mrs. Hamilton.

Today is a fun day though and we only spend 30 minutes in A set. After that we have field day till about 1:00 pm and then we go to the auditorium to watch a movie. This years movie is Frozen. Which is awesome! I love that Movie and know every line in it, song or not. My mom and I had split up the roles one time and acted out the entire movie while it played in the background.

*RING* That's the tardy bell. Leah and I take our seats quickly and wait for Mrs. Hamilton to start. "Okay class if you don't have paper and a pencil raise your hand please." Leah and I both raise our hands and are given some. We only brought small bags for school today and all they have in them is a change of clothes, a water bottle, sun screen, and a towel.

"Today is the last day of school and I want you all to do one last assignment before you begin your summer." Almost everyone in the class let a small "Ugg" escape from their mouths. Leah and I don't, we wait to see what the assignment is first because clearly I've been put through worst things then a school assignment (for example, momma and daddy).

"So the assignment is to write a letter to your 12 grade self. Tell about your current life, interests, goals, dreams, and jobs if any. Also write about what you think and want to be different in the future. Now I know some of you are going to take this assignment more serious than others which is why if you don't finish today I would like you to e-mail it to me by the end of the summer that should be plenty of time. I'll write my e-mail on the board for you. Okay, now begin."

Okay, so where should I start? My current life? Well currently I'm parentless, about to move away, and um, oh Ya I play softball, duh. Um, but what else. Let's see well currently until I move I'm living with my best friend. There's also the *BEEEEEEEP* "Everyone stay calm and line up at the door please. Leah I want you to shut the door behind everyone since your at the end of the line. Okay everyone calmly exit the room."

Great a fire drill, just what I need on my last day. I am in line right in front of Leah so once everyone is out of the class I wait with her till she shuts the door. She hates fire drills, she's always afraid that it's not a drill. So ad Mrs. Hamilton told her to close the door I knew she  was gonna freak out.

"Thanks for waiting for me" she says as she grabs the nob to shut the door. "No problem" I reply. She pulls on the door and it gets caught on the rug. She pulls again, but it won't close. I can see the worry in her eyes. "Leah let me try" I say so that she can calm down. "Ya thanks" I push the rug back and closed the door with ease.

Leah lets out a small laugh, "okay show off lets get out of here before we die." "Leah we are not gonna die it's just a drill. Just calm down and let's go get with the class. Okay?" "Okay." she replies.

We walk down the hall to the main entrance so that we can exit. As soon as the doors are in view I freeze and try to stop Leah before she sees, but it's too late. The front entrance doors are on fire and Leah is petrified.

I don't know what to do. I catch a glimpse of the outside through a window and see all classes are out there. Leah and I run away from the doors and into the principals office. I'm not surprised when I see that he is gone and not here.

I turn around to leave, but Leah doesn't, she just stares straight ahead. "Leah what is it we have to go!" I say trying to be calm but failing. "Someone left their walkie on the desk" she whispers, but I manage to understand her.

I turn back around and sure enough there's a walkie talkie on the desk. I quickly pick it up and press the button so I can talk. "Hello?! This is Kaitlyn Tears and Leah Stone! We are still in the building can anyone hear us?!" I yell into the walkie.

I wait a second and then hear, "Kaitlyn, Leah this is the principal we need you stay calm the firemen are here and working their way in. They will help you get out. Just stay calm and tell me where your at so we can get you out" "We're in your office" Leah says before I get the chance. "Okay stay put and wait for help."

Then the wall catches on fire. Leah and I ran into the hallway. The fire is spreading and we have to move. We can see the firemen making their way through the doors and trying to control the fire. One of them sees us and gestures for us to back up and we do.

He finally makes it to us and says, "Hi girls my name is Jack and I'm going to get you out safely." I freeze. Why? Why did his name have to be Jack? My dad's name is Jack. Leah sees me freeze and shakes me out of it, "come on he said we have to go!"

I follow Leah and....Jack down stairs to another exit, but it is blocked with flames too! "Do you girls know any other exits?" Jack asks us. "Ya" I say "there's one by the pool" we rush down the hall and outside. Finally my heart can relax, well almost, Jack is still here.

"You girls go join your class now okay? And thanks for the help of finding an exit. Now I have to go in and stop the fire." Jack says. "Okay" we say, "bye Jack." "Bye girls, be safe." and then he disappears into the building.

It takes us a while, but we finally find our class. As soon as we do Mrs. Hamilton gives us a huge hug and says, "next time I'll close the door, okay" we nod. I look back at the school, it is engulfed in flames and the firemen are now outside trying to control it with their water hoses.

The school has contacted all parents to come and get their children. Leah's mom and dad are at work so my aunt is coming to pick the three of us up.

I finally see my aunt pull up to the school. "Leah my aunt is here we need to get Zach" "Okay I think he was in Keating's class, lets go"

OMG! Look at the school! Calm down Kate calm down, at least no one got hurt. Ya okay but now we only have half a school. Well at least today was the last day. Ya thank goodness.

My thoughts were interrupted by Leah saying "Found him!" Zach looks like he is relieved to see us. "Leah. Kaitlyn. You're alright!" He says and engulfes us in a hug, but he quickly stops. "Ya were okay, why?" Leah asks "Lets just say word got around that you two were stuck in the school and I might have been a little worried." He says and blushes.

Our conversation ends there and we all walk to my aunt's car to go home. By the time we leave only 50 students are left waiting to be picked up.

"Hay guys. So I talked with your parents and since I don't have a key to to your house and neither do you I'm taking you to Kaitlyn's instead. That okay?" My aunt says. "Ya" we all reply.

The drive home isn't to long and not as crowded as the bus either. Leah sits up front and Zach and I sit in the back. I reach in my bag which thanks to Leah I saved. She was so worried it was real that she grabbed our bags. Zach had left his but he said all he left was a towel because he forgot to pack everything else this morning.

I grab my iPod and click on minecraft, my favorite game ever! I go on my world called Arendelle. I spawn in the middle of my ice sculptures which were naturally there.

Zach leans over and looks at my screen. "Wholly ice!" I hear him whisper. I walk to my caves and as I do I hear Zach talking to himself again saying things like "wow" and "cool" and "wish this was my world."

I eventually got bored with nothing to do so I get off and put my iPod back in bag. A Taylor Swift song is playing on the radio so I start to sing it. Leah joins in and sings with me too. The next person to join us singing is Zach and then my aunt. We all sing the next three songs and then stop when we turn onto my street.

We pull into my driveway and I'm very glad because I'm starving. It's already noon and because of the fire we didn't have our normal lunch at school. Leah and I race each other to the door and she wins. We quickly go inside and head straight for the kitchen. We make PB&J's and put some Doritos on our plates. For our drink we just do water.

It's not till we're sitting in silence eating that it sinks in. We almost died today! "You okay" Leah says bringing me out of my thoughts. "Ya I was just thinking how we almost died today. It's funny you freak out during the incident and I freak out after."

After we finish eating Leah and I take turns playing flappy bird trying to beat each other's score. This game is so addicting and the time just flies by.

While we are hanging out my aunt Sarah and Zach are loading the moving truck. Aunt Sarah had got it this morning and wanted to start packing right away. I mean I don't blame her we (well actually just me now) have a lot of stuff.

Before we knew it, it was time for dinner. My aunt is making potatoes, macaroni and cheese, grilled chicken strips, and corn so we can have chicken pot pie in a bowl. In my bowl I have everything except the corn.

We have to eat on the floor because everything is now packed in boxes and ready to be loaded, this includes all TV's and tables.

It doesn't take us long to finish eating our chicken pot pies. Once we finish my aunt says "Leah and Zach your parents are on their way to pick all of you up. So make sure you have everything."

My aunt is right on time. Just as she finishes talking Leah's parents pull into my driveway. "Bye aunt Sarah." I say as I give her a hug goodbye. "I'll see you soon." I say and she nods.

All four of us walk to the car. Silvia hops out and talks to my aunt while Zach, Leah, and I get in the car. After a minute Silvia comes back to the car and starts driving.

Tonight is really cold, but I've been through a lot of heat today so I don't pay attention to the goosebumps forming on my arms and legs as I roll down the window and look outside.

The moon is shining bright and small animals are sleeping and awakening. I can see a bat flying around over a pond. I watch as it moves gracefully through the air. It flys past the pond and over a field of tall grass. I watch as it swoops down in the grass only to reappear moments later. However, it's not alone, slowly one by one I start to see little green lights flash. It's so beautiful it's like magic. The fireflies follow the bat and fly every which way.

The bat stays with the fireflies at the field as we pass by it. Before I know it we arrive at Leah's house. We all hop out and head straight for bed because we were all tiered. Before we go to bed though Silvia checks in on us to make sure we are okay and not hurt from the incident earlier today.

After that Leah and I collapse on the bed and fall asleep almost instantly. Tonight is the first time in a while that I dream of momma and it won't be the last either.....

Hi guys sorry it's been a while I have swim practice and summer homework and they've been keeping me busy. I hope you all enjoy this chapter it's my longest one yet!!!!!! The next chapter is called "The Last Hoorah" and I will try to get it published soon, but if I don't please don't hate me.
