Chapter 8
QuesOfTheDay: Who do you imagine as Snow Clifford other than yourself (only if you imagine yourself)?
After walking for a good few minutes, finally Harry and I reach to the shop.
"Here we are Harry; I know it's paining much." I tell looking at him. Blood was coming out of his foot a while ago but now it has dried up. A cold shiver passes through my whole body watching his foot. I know he's walking with my help but I can't even imagine how he's controlling the burning pain.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." He tells and I frown.
"I can see how fine you are." I tell sarcastically and he passes me a death glare. I decide to remain silent instead of answering him.
"Anyone here?" Harry yells realizing we're the only customer here as we enter inside the small shop. I look around and it seems like an all-in-one shop.
"Hello? It's me!" Harry yells again and an old lady wearing an apron appears in front of us. She wipes her glasses using her apron and looks at us from top to toe. She judges us for a few moment and then finally ends her judgmental session.
"Good afternoon love birds! How can I help you?" She asks plastering a welcoming smile on her trembling lips.
"We're not........." Harry starts to protest against the love birds thingy but I cut him off watching the poor face of the old lady.
"We need some aids to fix his groan first!" I tell grabbing Harry's wrist.
"We need a phone to make a call first." He tells looking at me.
"No we need the first aid box first." I whisper yell looking at Harry.
"No we need a phone...... Okay first aid box please." He frowns and mouths me ok, rising up his eyebrows.
"Okay dear, oh look at your leg poor boy! You really need some strong aid. You should listen to your girlfriend!" the old lady says more like an order.
"She's a friend okay? I hate those people who think every girl hanging around guys is their girlfriend!" He yells looking at the lady.
"Sorry my boy. Control your anger. You're making her afraid along with me." She smiles sadly and Harry looks at me.
"Sorry." He tells looking at me and then looks down.
"Who's there namma?" Hearing another female voice, Harry and I both look at the door.
A girl with blonde hair enters inside the shop. Her blue shorts and red tank top has perfectly matched with her brown hat. I've never seen so thick eye brows as hers. She doesn't smile or even looks at us in a welcoming way like the old woman. I assume she's of my age. I smile looking at her and she forces a smile on her lips somehow.
"Summer! They need to use a phone. Can you......?" The old woman raises her eyebrows looking at her.
"Oh! Catch!" She throws the phone towards me to catch it and I grab it as if it's the last ball of the final match of a cricket game.
Harry takes the phone from my hand and dials a number.
"Hey pal it's me Harry......yea we can talk about it later.....I'll type some goddamned address to you and I need you to pick me up from here.....okay.....hurry up." I watch him the whole time he talks over the phone. How his detailed jaw lines move when he talks, how he rolls up his eyes over the phone as if the other person is right in front of him now.
"My friend is coming here in an hour or so. He's near somewhere. I'll drop you at Madison's house and then I'll leave."
Leave?
Oh yeah, he is supposed to leave.
"Here, take it. You both need some ointments and you can wear summer's dress. You look miserable." The old woman passes me some folded clothes and a first aid box.
Thanking her, I put band aids over Harry's knee and feet. The cut on his knee is not deep but the one under his foot is scaring me. He tries to do it by himself but finally agrees to get it done by me.
"Give me the box." Harry takes the box from my hand and takes out a band aid from it. Surprising me, he puts it on the groan over my forehead.
"Walk carefully from the next time." I tell looking at him.
"Hide carefully from next time." He tells boldly and I half smile.
He keeps staring at me for a few moments. I know his eyes want to say something to me. I see how his lips apart again and again to say something but he stops.
"You wanna say something?" I ask being impatient.
"No." He replies not breaking the gaze.
Each and every moment passing by, I'm thinking about missing him, missing the boy I've spent only two days, missing the moments we've passed, missing the things I've learnt from him. I'm going to miss every single moment we've passed. Because he was with me when none was.
"What're you two guys up for? Like you guys got lost or eloped?" I look up when the rude girl appeared again, standing in front of us, crossing her arms.
She gasps looking at the old woman watching me in her dress but frown when the old woman mouths her something in some other language which sounds like German.
"Both." Harry replies not looking at her.
Harry sticks up his tongue when the girl turns around flipping her hair.
"Woah! All the best! May you guys have a successful long ass love story!" The girl smirks.
Harry and I both sigh looking at each other and I control my laughter when Harry makes faces looking at the girl, again.
"How do you do this thing?" I ask Harry caressing my thumb and middle finger against each other to make a sound but fail. I still remember how he made a strange sound using his fingers the night the goons were disturbing me.
"It needs practice." He chuckles making the sound twice. I try to follow him but finally end up in making Harry laugh at me.
"Yeah yeah go on! Laugh at me." I roll my eyes.
"Who were the people chasing you Harry and why were they chasing you? You told me that you'll tell me later." I ask him widening my eyes.
"I don't want you to know. Because if you know, you'll regret what you know." He mostly whispers looking at me.
"I won't."I tell putting my hand on his.
"I'd, at least in this last hour with you." He snaps.
"When are you going back to Parktown Summer?" The old lady asks passing all of us some muffins and Oreo shakes. Harry refuses to take but takes back when I refuse to take too if he won't take.
I need to know, I want to know who the people were chasing us. The old lady and the girl make it more impossible for me by sitting beside us with their Oreo shakes. I can't ask it in front of them.
"I'm leaving for Parktown after an hour. I just came here to see you for the last time before my classes start in a month." She tells with a mouthful of muffin.
"Wait, you live in Parktown?" I ask hearing the name of the place Madison lives in.
"Yeah but I'll be moving to NYC in two days." She tells sipping into her Oreo shake.
I intend to say something but we all look outside hearing honks.
"Louis is here, we gotta go." Harry tells standing up.
"Thanks for everything. Sorry for the clothes Summer. I owe you both" I tell before standing up, throwing my empty plastic cup into the trash can.
"It's okay." She smiles least but at last, a genuine one.
We walk out of the small shop and Harry leads me towards a black car. A brown haired boy waves his hand towards him and Harry hops into the passenger's seat beside the Louis named boy. I shove myself into the backseat of the grey rover.
Harry is acting so unfamiliar, not the same Harry I've spent two best days of my life with. I have a lot of questions to ask him, a lot of things to say him but his strange behavior is making me feel hesitant.
Is he feeling sad like me that we're gonna miss each other? I'll get his contact number of course and we can keep in contact.
"New chick?" The Louis boy asks smirking, taking a quick glance at me. I look away being nervous and then look at Harry.
"No. Mind your own business Lou!" Harry snaps before asking me the address of Madison's home and telling Louis to go there first.
"So you finished the new project?" Louis asks passing Harry a cigarette.
"We'll talk about it later buddy, so tired right now." Harry tells weakly, leaving a smoke ring from his lips.
"What the fuck happened to your leg?" Louis asks looking at Harry's knees.
"Just some small disturbing. Don't worry, every pain heals with time," Harry chuckles and Louis smiles.
In a moment, the car is filled with smoke and I feel my head spinning around. I start to feel sick, like I'm gonna throw up any moment. The smell of a burning cigarette always makes me sick. Michael never used to smoke in front of me because he knew how much I hate this bad smell.
After an hour long ride maybe, Madison's big wooden house appears in front of me as the car stops.
I've never been in this duplex classy house before but I've seen it in the pictures Madison has sent me earlier. A large flower garden is surrounding the big house. The house isn't as big as my father's luxurious house but it holds a peaceful homely environment. There is a small painted hut in a corner and my childhood memories with Madison refreshes.
Finally, I'm here, to Madison.
My excitement falls down looking at Harry, thinking that Tarzan won't be with Jane anymore.
