Even after a year on Earth, Jisoo still wasn't used to all the limitations of her human form.

The most obvious restriction was, of course, her inability to teleport. (Or not really "teleport", more like existing in her normal form - which was, in very simple terms, a glob of light - and traveling with the light rays, but Jisoo found using the word in the human language to be easier than the word in her language.) Although she had gotten used to riding in cars and buses, she was, nevertheless, frustrated that flying to Paris took a whole day when she would have arrived in a mere second.

Then, there was the fact that the human body deteriorated way more quickly than her normal self. If she wanted to maintain a healthy body and shape, then she constantly needed to exercise. A mere paper cut meant suffering pain worse than - as she heard other people use - hell. In addition, some humans also had very bad eyesight. and Jisoo was extremely unlucky in choosing her human skin a year ago; without her glasses, she was basically blind.

But, more than anything else, was the very cursed, very annoying, and very uncomfortable periods she had to experience every month. (She thought it was so unfair that only women experienced this cycle, when on her planet, everyone was made equal.) Jisoo absolutely hated walking around with gallons and gallons (obviously an exaggeration, but it felt like that amount) of blood bleeding out of the tiniest hole possible and having to pretend that she wasn't slowly dying every second.

So, for the umpeeth time in a minute, she adjusted her pad, which had been giving her the worst wedgie for the past hour.

Jennie looked up from her iPad as she reached inside her bag and offered with a sympathetic smile a tampon.

"Like I said before, I am never going to stick something up my vagina," Jisoo miserably grumbled, scanning the sky for any sign of a meteorite. He should be landing in any minute. "It sounds too scary."

"But how would you ever have sex?"

"Then, I'll never have sex."

Eyes widening, Jennie wildly shook her head, highlighted brown hair flying everywhere. "No way! I will not let you go back home without experiencing the only phenomenal feeling humans can offer!"

Jisoo raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Of course!" Head tilting back, eyeballs rolling to the back of her socket, and mouth opening halfway, Jennie mimicked "moaning". Then, she snapped back to a regular position, grinning. "It's something like that but with more squirming and screaming and naked bodies."

Not going to lie, Jisoo was curious about what humans called an "orgasm", but the idea of having a stick basically impale her body, even if a hole already existed, sounded very terrifying. So, she shook her head. "We also have something similar to that."

Jennie snorted. "Our species reproduce by agitating the photons that make us up, so we're not really feeling the pleasure."

Jisoo shrugged. "Besides, who do I even have sex with?"

Eyes narrowing, Jennie said, her tone indicating Jisoo's denseness, "Wave-"

Jisoo loudly coughed, shooting her friend a glare.

"What?" Jennie innocently batted her eyelashes. "Just because I don't say his name doesn't mean Wavelen-"

"Nope!" Jisoo interrupted, holding up both palms. Just the mention of half his name was a whole nightmare. Matters were definitely made worse with her tendency to turn red at even the slightest embarrassment. "Nope! I can't hear you." Making circle motions near her ear, she pretended to look around in confusion. "Is that a bee buzzing near me?"

Rolling her eyes, Jennie tucked her iPad under her armpit. "You can't keep on pretending he doesn't exist when the spaceship is going to drop him in approximately two seconds."

And then, before Jisoo could retort that the concern was for two seconds later, the world brightened from a brilliant ball of light, more concentrated in the front, while the ends trailed behind like a tail. It was fast, there one second, gone another, and finally, crashed into the ground with the loudest boom, kicking up a ring of dust that probably spanned for miles. Both Jennie and Jisoo had to morph into their light form to prevent themselves from being blown away to oblivion.

Ten minutes later, when the heat dissipated, the wind slowed down, and the sky was dark again, Jennie gasped in delight, sprinting to the shape of a curled figure, currently hardened into a rock, while Jisoo slowly followed with way less enthusiasm and way more dread.

"Wavelength 725," Jennie beamed. "Welcome to Earth!"

There was a moment of silence as Jennie and Jisoo watched his chosen human cast start to engulf his light. It was definitely a strange process. At 725 nanometers, he was an intense red color, and as trillions and trillions of body cells knitted together, the red slowly started to give away to a dusky golden color. Wavelength 139, a legendary innovator, had found a way to integrate clothes with the human skin, so now, a basic black shirt and sweatpants molded over his body.

Jisoo stopped next to Jennie just as Wavelength 725 spoke, using their language, the words more twisted and choppy than English, "Who are-" Spotting Jisoo, his new brown eyes widened, a huge grin forming on his face. "Wavelength 525!" He tried to stand up, but unused to the feeling of solid limbs, he collapsed onto the ground. Nonetheless, his eyes traveled up to stare at her, not even blinking. "Your human form is so different from my imagination."

Adjusting her glasses, ignoring the way her hand shook just a little, Jisoo said, willing her voice to be louder, "It's probably the glasses."

He tilted his head. "What's that?"

"They help you see clearly," she answered. Her explanation didn't help him, though, because he only seemed more confused. "Humans have eyes that don't-"

"Okay!" Jennie exclaimed, whipping out the iPad, and proceeded to feverishly tap on the screen. "Jisoo, you can slowly teach him everything about this world once I'm done with my job." Bending down to check his pulse, she nodded. "Sounds good. Then, let me introduce myself. I'm Jennie, one of the few ambassadors for Earth and Haneul. My duties are to assimilate you into this society for the three years you're going to be here. So, first, you-"

"Wait." His eyes jumped from the prickly bushes to the dry sand to the lazy lizard to the mountain range in the background. "Where are we?"

"Area 51," Jennie replied. "Now, you have to-"

He pointed to the lizard currently staring off into space. "What's that?"

"A lizard. Anyways, I need-"

"Lizards!" he gasped. "I remember learning about them in my third year of taking Earth classes." Inching closer to the lizard, he was about to stroke its back when it darted away for shelter. "They're so-"

"Wavelength 725!" Jennie snapped, eyes narrowing. "As I said before, you can ask as many questions as you want once I'm finished. So, please stop interrupting me or I'm sending you back to Haneul!"

He sheepishly smiled, muttering an apology, while Jisoo hid a laugh behind her cough. He really was the same: still the curious boy who couldn't contain his questions, basically infuriating the rest of the students in class.

Readjusting her hair, posture, and attitude, Jennie started over, smiling. "First, you need to make sure to always speak English here. We don't want to be found out." When he nodded, she continued, "Now, you should choose a name." She turned the iPad so he could read the screen and said, "The random name generator gave me two choices: Taehyung or Seokjin. Which one do you want?"

Instead of giving her his answer, he turned to Jisoo, looking every bit like a dog begging its master for treats. "What do you want?"

She pointed to herself. "Me?!"

He eagerly nodded.

"But shouldn't you choose one for yourself..." She trailed off when she saw his face sag in disappointment and quickly explained, "I mean, it's the identity you're sticking with for the next three years, so what if I choose wrong?"

"But I believe in you."

Jisoo sighed in frustration as Jennie leaned closer to her ear and whispered, "This is what humans call 'couple goals'."

Scowling, Jisoo pushed her away before hesitantly answering, "Taehyung?"

Jennie faced him again. "Is that fine?"

He smiled, eyes never leaving Jisoo. "Of course."

"Then, perfect! I'll register you in this world and specifically, this country, as Taehyung." She reached into her suit's pocket and took out something plastic and rectangle. "There's enough money in here for you to buy meals for a week, but after the week is over, you are going to have to become independent by-"

"By getting a job!" His grin was contagious.

Jennie paused, then reluctantly nodded. "Yes, by getting a job. Your bank account will be set up in an hour." She put the card into his hands before straightening. "You have a doctor's appointment scheduled later today. Well, then, that should be all."

After a few more minutes of Jennie tapping on her screen, Taehyung admiring his environment, and Jisoo trying not to stare too hard at him, Jennie nodded at them. "It was nice seeing you again, Taehyung. I probably won't be seeing you until your time is up, unless you break any rules of Haneul's study abroad program, which I should remind you has very strict punishments. Until then, I hope you enjoy your stay on this planet. A car will be coming by to pick you up soon." Then, winking one last time at Jisoo, she was a quick flash of light before disappearing.

Finally alone, Jisoo suddenly felt her heart rate pick up and blood go against gravity, traveling to her neck. The last words she spoke to him three years ago were "I like you", which he, watching her walk up the ramp to the spaceship and waving, replied to with a very casual "see you later". Since then, she had a year to lay in bed thinking about her stupid impulsiveness, his lack of response, and her regret in confessing. (Especially because for someone who has never liked to initiate, she had gathered so much courage that she really felt like fainting afterwards.)

"Wavelength 525, what is your human name?" he asked, breaking the silence.

He was trying to stand up again - with more success than his previous try, but still a bit wobbly. So, forcing herself to stop wallowing in embarrassment, Jisoo went to him, looping one arm across his back and helping him stabilize as he tested out his legs. Finally, after a few minutes, he laughed, jumping up and down, before pulling Jisoo into such a huge and tight hug that she yelped. Startled by the sudden heat enveloping her, the feel of his skin against her's, and his hair tickling her neck, she couldn't help but shiver.

But, more than that, was the way Taehyung held her: gentle, but firm. She had seriously planned to never face him again, but now that they were united again, she had to admit that she really missed him. His genuine curiosity, kind heart, and tendency to be extremely honest. Almost unconsciously, she wrapped her arms around his waist, feeling all her lingering homesickness wash away.

"Jisoo," she answered, voice muffled against his skin.

"That's a pretty name," he breathed, rocking her back and forth. "You know, I literally had no one to talk to once you were gone. I couldn't even analyze just how much Jungkook's acting skills improved. I really missed you."

She grinned against his skin, not failing to notice how soft it was. "Me, too."

"About what you said-"

"Wait!" she loudly cut off, suddenly flustered and nervous, refusing to bring up that moment. "You mentioned Jungkook. Did he star in a new movie?"

Taehyung excitedly nodded, already focused on another topic (he has always been bad at multitasking). "It tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers caught in the middle of an inter-galactic battle." He pretended to wipe away some tears. "I was so close to just marrying Jungkook myself because the poor light suffered so much."

Jisoo laughed, about to urge him to give her all the updates, when a car pulled up next to them. Surprised that she didn't even notice such a huge vehicle making its way to them, she quickly pulled back, suddenly super conscious of the image they were probably giving to the public.

The door opened and a man, probably only about thirty years old, came out with an amiable smile. "Taehyung and Jisoo?"

They nodded.

"I'm Junmyeon, your chauffeur for today," he said, opening the door of the backseat. "I'll be driving you to the clinic, which I believe is your desired destination." When she nodded, he smiled and waved at the empty seats.

Jisoo started walking before realizing Taehyung was not following, turning around to see him warily staring at the car. "It's not planning to eat me or something, right?"

She blinked, and then cracked up, going back to him, grabbing his arm, and tugging him to the car. "No, this is one of the ways humans use to get from one place to another."

The hostility on his face washed away, and his eyes widened. "A car?!" he gasped, already speed-walking to the vehicle. Running a gentle hand across the surface of the car, he said, admiration clear in his voice, "I've seen so many pictures, but it's so much bigger than I expected. It also looks more round, not like the boxy ones they show on books."

Junmyeon chuckled. "You must be talking about cars from the 1950's. Classes about Earth on Haneul are pretty outdated."

Jisoo gently pushed Taehyung inside. He scooted to the very end, rapidly studying every button, nook, and corner of the car. "Seatbelt," she instructed.

Taehyung took a second to comprehend the foreign word before pulling the leather across his chest and strapping himself in. He winked. "I'm basically a human now."

Settling into the driver's seat, Junmyeon informed them that the drive would probably take about three hours. Then, the wheels started rolling and before long, they were outside of Area 51's perimeter.

The rest of the trip consisted of Jisoo answering all of Taehyung's questions.

("So a car runs on gasoline?"

Jisoo nodded. "Humans made it through chemistry."

His eyes widened. "Che-mis-try? So, they know magic."

"Well, no, not really..."

"But, they can make substances that make a normally immobile object move."

"Yes, but it's called science on this planet."

Taehyung breathed the word, like he was reciting a god's name, before grinning. "Jisoo, I'm depending on you to teach me science."

Three minutes later, he asked, "What's that?"

Looking out the window at the direction he was pointing to, she answered, "A cow."

"I've actually never seen them. What do they do?"

"Produce milk." Then, as an afterthought, she said, "Fun fact. You know humans can also produce milk."

"No way!" he gasped, jaw dropping.

"Actually, yes, from our boobs."

Taehyung narrowed his eyes, studying her, before pointing at her chest. "So, those produce milk? Does it taste good?"

Frowning, she cupped her boobs, slowly shaking her head. "Not until you're pregnant. And then I don't think an adult has ever drank milk. Although, why... I don't really know."

"Pregnant, huh." He tapped his chin. "I've read that humans form from an egg and sperm, and two very small things can determine everything about a baby. Crazy, huh?"

Jisoo tilted her head. "You're actually right."

In the end, Junmyeon had looked into the rearview mirror, making eye contact with Taehyung, and grinned. "You're going to have a blast here, if you're already this impressed.")

When they finally pulled up to the clinic, Junmyeon helped them get out before bowing. Thanking him, she watched the car leave before turning to Taehyung, whose jaw dropped. "This is the nest humans live in?"

Jisoo laughed. "It's called a building, and this one is specifically for people who want to check up on their health."

"Interesting..." Then, unexpectedly, Taehyung spun around to face her, looping an arm around her waist and pulling her to him, so that their bodies were aligned and flush against each other. "So, now that we're finally alone, Jisoo..."

"Yes," she squeaked, blinking hard.

He grinned, looking down at her, eyelashes framing his eyes. "This human form actually has a lot of similarities with our normal body."

Having no idea where he was going to take this, she stayed still. Besides, the nerves in her brain were exploding and short-circuiting, leaving the rest of her body parts to fend for themselves.

"For example, hands, legs, feet, and-" He leaned down, so that when he spoke, his lips brushed her earlobe. "- my favorite, mouth."

She was going into overdrive. A sudden jolt of heat rushed up and down her body and at the same time, shivers breaked out faster than humanly possible. It wasn't like they haven't touched before, especially since they grew up together. (For example, there was the time they were racing up a hill, when she accidentally tripped him and landed in a pile of red and green lights.) However, this was dangerous, diving into new territory, and most of all, really addictive. She was already dreading the prospect of losing this delicious heat, already wanting to stay in this position forever. Besides, a light green glow was emanating from her body, and if anyone saw, they would be kicked back to their planet in a second.

So, she pushed him hard, jumping a few feet backwards. Probably red in her face and neck, she framed her hair around her face and briskly walked to the entrance, not waiting for him to follow. "T-" She cleared her throat. "The doctor is probably ready for us."

The sound of footsteps behind her probably indicated his presence, and when he said, "Let's go", Jisoo didn't miss the hint of hurt in his voice. Confused, she went to the counter, leaving Taehyung to explore the waiting area by himself, and told the receptionist their appointment.

"Ah, of course!" He leaned back and called, "Doctor Min! Taehyung is ready for you."

Two seconds later, the doctor came out, telling them to follow him with a warm smile, although Taehyung barely reacted and he certainly didn't even spare her a glance. After a few minutes of privacy between Taehyung and the doctor, watching the doctor check his heart rate, nostrils, and stomach, Jisoo tried not to notice how unusual he was acting. No questions about any of the equipment the doctor was using. No comments about just how cool Earth was. She tried to start a conversation when she pointed at a stethoscope, saying that it could sometimes hear through walls, but he merely nodded. The same thing happened on the bus ride home: Taehyung stonily stared out at the passing scenery even though she swiped her card through a machine that didn't exist on Haneul and also was't written about in books.

Finally home, Jisoo was kicking off her shoes, about to escape to her bedroom to dwell on his sudden behaviour change, when he, leaning against the closed front door, asked, "Why did you push me away?"

She froze. "What?"

"In front of the nest-"

"Building," she corrected.

"Building," he said with a scowl. "Why did you push me away?"

Not meeting his eyes, she shrugged. "Because humans don't like public displays of affection, and we're not even together."

There was a heavy silence, and then Taehyung said, "So, you lied to me?"

Adjusting her glasses, she frowned. "Lied? I haven't seen you in a year."

He let out a growl of frustration. "Right before you left-"

Her body went rigid..

"-you told me that you liked me. So, of course, I thought we were together."

She looked at him in confusion. "But you never gave me an answer to my confession."

Frowning, he said. "I did."

"All you said was 'see you later'!" she accused.

For a second, he merely blinked, then he kicked off the door, strolling to her, strides full of intent. Jisoo froze as he took her hands, lacing their fingers together until they were connected together in a waffle-style. Slowly, never taking his eyes off her, he pressed a soft kiss on the middle of her hand. "Don't tell me this was all a misunderstanding."

Jisoo laughed weakly, although her heart was melting in both relief that he never rejected her and joy that he liked her. "We really reached another level of misunderstanding. It spanned a whole galaxy and a totally different planet."

He sagged against her, head landing on her shoulder, and when he spoke, she squirmed at the ticklish way his chin moved up and down on her. "I can't believe you didn't hear me."

"I mean, who speaks so quietly in a place where spaceships are constantly taking off and landing?"

"Well, then, who confesses right before a spaceship is about to launch? You know that the engine is super loud." But Taehyung bumped his nose against her's, smiling. "So, you really spent a year thinking I rejected you."

"Yes," she muttered. "And it was really bad. I thought I destroyed our whole friendship."

"That's definitely scary," he agreed. Squishing her cheeks together, he tilted her head back and up. Then, he leaned down, pressing a deep kiss on her lips. "But I'll spend the rest of the three years making it up for you. And do you want to know one of my ways?"

Jisoo grinned against his mouth. "What?"

"The doctors gave me a quick sex education."

Her eyes widened.

"But I think, if you want to, I prefer learning through experience."
