Talk about Mothers
Couldn't find a picture for this chapter so here is a picture of my doggie!
Miko's POV
It was after school when I received a text from Natsu, making plans to video chat tonight when we are both free to do so. I replied back to him a response when someone called my name, turning down my music 3 notches before turning around to see who was calling me. Lucy Heartfilia with Levy McGarden and Erza Scarlet following suit. Juvia Lockser no where in sight
"Are you sure you don't want to come with us? Because the dance is 2 weeks away and most of the dresses will be out of stock if your change your mind too late." Lucy asked me and I nodded
"Yes I'm sure. Go ahead you guys don't need to worry if I'm going to the dance or not." Lucy sighed in defeat, looking over at Erza
"Alright then. Come on you two let's get going." Erza walked away into the parking lot, waving back at me. Lucy gave me a quick hug before following after her. Levy smiled briefly before quickly messing with my bangs that were getting a little too long for my liking
"See you tomorrow Miko!" I heard Levy yell to me once she reached their car and got in. I waved as they drove pass me. My ring tone went off with a Black Veil Brides Song (Fallen Angels). I got it out and answered it
"Hello?"
"Hey, I'm working late tonight at the office so don't wait up for me okay?" My Dad's voice came through the speaker and I sighed
"Alright, just don't overwork yourself Dad."
"I won't. I will see you tomorrow."
"See you Dad."
"Love you."
"Love you too, bye." I cut the call off and walked back home, turning my music back up. I hummed lightly to the words blasting through her ears. Shoving my hands in my jacket's pockets, admiring the scenery around me, looking at all of the leaves that had their colors being changed finally. I continue to walk until a lone black car drove past me, locking eyes with the person in the back who craned their neck to look back at me. I awkwardly looked away, cursing myself to oblivion. It's impolite to stare!
I sighed before getting my phone out to look through my playlists, looking for a new set of music to listen to. I made circles with my thumb over the Green Day Mix before tapping on it, American Idiot instantly blasting through my ears. I crossed the street and jogged my way the rest of the way, feeling energetic from just listening to Green Day.
I got my keys out and unlocked the door to see Koto patiently waiting for me, meowing repeatedly until I closed the door and placed my keys on the mantel beside me. I crouched down and held my hands out towards her. She trotted over to me and rubbed herself against my hand, purring in delight. I smiled picking her up and walked up the steps to start on my homework so I wouldn't have to worry about it later.
(Time Skip)
"Why didn't you go with them?" Natsu asked me a few hours later over FaceTime, still dressed in his school uniform. It was around 8 PM when he finally got back from school, and actually joined a club today. Can you guess what club? The Food Club, apparently someone had the miraculous idea to make a club where they basically just talked about food
"Because what is the use if I'm not going to the dance this year, again." I dead panned while stirring my spoon around in my hot chocolate
"Again? No wonder I have need seen you at any of the dances before. Have you at least went to one Middle School Dance?"
"Nope. Too buy to worry about any of that."
"Why? Because from what I know you barely have anything going on."
"True, but that was during the time my mom was dying of Cancer, or well was going through treatment but died when I was in 8Th Grade."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"It's fine Natsu. I'm fine talking about her and all." I told him and he sighed in relief, cracking his knuckles against his desk
"What about your dad? Does he talk about her?"
"Not that much. Well neither of us do. We only really talk about her when it gets around their anniversary of being married or when she died. Both times we go and visit her grave." Natsu nodded and smiled lightly at me
"That's nice. Better than what I have to deal with my parents."
"What do you have to deal with?"
"Divorce. That have been divorced since I was around 5 for reasons unknown to me, they never really went ini detail but whenever they see each other they act all nice and innocent but once the other is out of ear shot hell breaks loose." I cringed, feeling bad for him
"So they basically backstab each other."
"Yep. But at least they try and keep it to a minimum when I'm around so it's somewhat tolerable."
"Do they have joint custody over you?"
"Yeah. But with their agreement at first my dad had me on the weekends and my mom on weekdays which was fine until my mom took control of three jobs and decided it was best to have me whenever she could which is usually holidays."
"Where do your mom live now?"
"She lives in Canada and works as a, Writer, Psychiatrist, and Social Worker in the Media." My jaw almost dropped to the ground if it wasn't for me drinking my hot chocolate right at that moment
"Woah, that is a lot for a single person to take on."
"I don't know how she does it but I fully understand why she doesn't have time to spend with me because her schedule is so crammed as it is." I nodded and set my drink down. I smiled at him and he returned it
"So are you going to Homecoming?" I shook my head, still smiling
"No, besides it wouldn't be fun if a certain someone was there." I told him only to regret my choice of words. My cheeks flaming hot and I hid them with my hand. Natsu chuckled, also blushing
"Awe, you are too cute." He complimented me and I nervously laughed
"Says the pink hair boy."
"It's Salmon! How many times do I have to tell you that?!" I grinned when my phone went off. I glanced down at it and unlocked it to see it was a text from Lucy
-Couldn't find a dress today so gonna try tomorrow, do you still not want to come?- ~Lucy
I rolled my eyes at the text
"Who texted you?" Natsu asked me
"Lucy. She couldn't find a dress today but is going to try tomorrow, she asked me if I want to change my mind." I told him and he thought for a moment
"You should go, this might be your last chance to do so." I sighed, biting my bottom lip in thought
"But I don't feel like going to dance if you aren't there." I managed to state without my face turning into a red tomato
"Please go, it will be good for you to do so." He informed me and I thought once more before nodding
"Alright I will go." He grinned in triumph
-Sure. Natsu managed to convince me.- ~Miko
-AWW LOVER BOY, GIVE HIM A VIRTUAL HUG FOR ME! Okay, after school tomorrow meet us outside.- ~Lucy
"Lucy sends you a virtual hug."
"And I send her one back. I send a hug to everyone." He told me and I smiled
"Including you and maybe a kiss as well." He told me blushing a bit and I smiled lightly, pink dusting across my cheeks
"I gotta go. I need to finish my Science project. Talk tomorrow when I get back?"
"Sure. Just don't forget about me."
"Hard to when you're my stalker."
"Secret Flame." He corrected me and I rolled my eyes before waving bye to him
"Talk to you tomorrow."
"See you Little Music."
