I was putting Lucina to bed. She had tired herself out after a day of running through the field.
"There you go." I said.

As Lucina stopped jumping in her crib, she said "Whe Mama?"

That's when I stopped cold.
"You miss your mother, don't you?" I asked. Lucina nodded.

"Luci, do you know how bonds are formed?" I asked. She shook her head. "Well, a bond is formed when two people have a mutual friendship. As they grow closer together, a bond is formed between them. Although a bond is metaphorical, if it's strong enough, it can keep one of the two people alive, should something happen to them. That's like the relationship I had with your mother. The great tactician I had the pleasure of meeting. Someday, just someday, we'll see each other again soon. Naga has opened up communication between me and your mother but it's not enough. I want to see her again."

"Mama?" Lucina asked.

"Someday, Luci. Someday, we'll meet again. Our ties are strong enough to open communication. I can only hope they're strong enough to bring your mother home."

"Dada."

"You need your sleep, Luci."

I kissed her forehead and started to drift off.
"Actually, you're sleeping with me tonight."

I picked up Luci and carried her into my bedroom.
"Goodnight Luci." I said.
