Celebration (Chrobin Week)
Sometime after Chapter 11. Anna
My past was spotty. I could not remember a damn thing about who I was prior to meeting Chrom. Little things like past skills surfaced over time, but no direct memories. I could not tell you where I was from, what my full name is, why I lost my memory, anything.
There are times where I thought I wished for amnesia. Maybe I went through some great trauma and wanted to forget; to have a chance at a brand new life. But, even if I did go through a trauma, I would want to remember. Everything about me makes me who I was. No matter what.
However, some aspects about me came back. I could deduct my age: 19 - well, almost 19. And my birthday: September 16th, which was only a few days away.
I never really thought that my birthday was that important, so a celebration is not something I'm making an effort to coordinate. My fiancé, the most wonderful dork there ever will be, thought otherwise.
And thus, I was roped into allowing this to happen.
"Chrom, we really don't need to make a big deal out of this."
"Nonsense. We absolutely do need to make a big deal out of this."
"My birthday?"
Chrom sighed, setting down the parchment he was writing on. "Yes! What about that do you not understand?" He walked over to me and patted my head. "Dear, your birthday is a reason to celebrate."
I shook off his hand, frowning. He knows I hate it when he does that! "I just don't want to bother anyone or make a huge fuss, that's all."
He took both of my hands in his, lightly brushing his thumb over my engagement ring. "Love, all I'm planning is a party with our friends. There's no grand festival or party."
I pressed the side of my head against his chest, staring off at the wall. "...Do you promise?"
"I promise." He brought my left hand to his mouth, lips brushing against my ring finger. "For this year, that is. Birthday celebrations for royalty are much more different and grand."
I groaned internally. "Yes, I'm aware," I sighed. "Your last birthday was certainly one to remember."
"You helped plan it, dummy." He kissed the top of my head. "Don't cut yourself short. Everyone's birthday deserves to be celebrated. You do so much for everyone, they will be happy to celebrate with you."
"Are you sure?"
"100% positive." He gripped my chin lightly, making me look up at him. He was wearing that classic cheeky grin of his. "And for me especially. To celebrate the birth of the greatest thing that has ever happened to me is a no-brainer. Hell, I have half a mind to make your birthday a national holiday!"
I playfully smacked his chest. "Don't you dare." Gods, he's really determined about this. I mean, I can't put it passed him. I was the same on his birthday. "Fine. But just a small party, ok? Let me enjoy no grand celebrations while I can."
A bright smile painted his lips as he pulled me into a tight hug. "Next year will be different, I promise you that!"
"Is that a promise that we will be married before my next birthday?"
"You bet."
I rolled my eyes, allowing myself to melt into the hug. "I'll hold you to it, then."
...
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!"
As soon as I stepped into the Garrison, I was blasted with confetti and streamers. Once the mess cleared, I saw all of my friends - even the ones who were not permanently staying in Ylisse!
I couldn't help my lips from forming into a smile. "Whoa! Thanks, you guys!"
Lissa barreled towards me and squeezed me tight. "Happy birthday, Sis! I'm so glad that you were born!"
"As are we," Sumia chimed in, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I second that," Cordelia smiled.
"Happy birthday, my love," Chrom spoke. As soon as he stepped near me, my other friends disbanded. "May we spend many more together." He took my hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it.
"Oooooooh!" Lissa smirked at us.
I playfully glared at her. "We've been public as a couple for months!"
"Doesn't matter. As long as you two are dorks, I will be a dork."
We could hear Gaius groan in the background. "Enough talking! Can we please have cake?" he shouted.
Nowi jumped up and down. "Ooh! Cake! I want cake!"
I giggled, turning to my fiance. "Will my future birthdays be more organized?" I asked.
He nodded, grinning. "Of course," he replied. "And by that, I mean I won't be the sole organizer or the leader of the party-planning-team."
"Sounds perfect."
