Chapter 31 - As We Know It
ROSE'S POV-
We stayed at the Burrow for about an hour after the explosion. The damage was pretty bad. Almost the entire kitchen was gone leaving grandma in a fit of tears. But it wasn't anything we couldn't fix. A team of aurors was sent to examine the protective spells around the perimeter. They needed to figure out how Lucius got in. After everyone was calmed down we decided to leave. It had been an awful day and it wasn't even noon yet. After saying our goodbyes we apparated back to our flat where aurors had already reapplied more protective charms.
Once landed I fell back onto the couch but yelped in pain when my hip made contact. "What's wrong?" Scorpius asked. Pulling my shirt up a bit I realized that there was deep cut that was caked in dry blood. "I guess I got cut when I flew backwards." I said with a shrug. Without a word he got up and when he came back his arms were full of healing supplies. Slowly he cleaned and started to heal the cut.
"This's been the longest day I've had in forever." I said as he continued to trace his wand over my side. "Me too. Who thought a funeral could go so wrong." He said with a laugh. "Well with my family I didn't exactly expect it to go right." I said. "How long do you think it'll take to fix the Burrow?" I asked after a moment of silence. "I don't know. But we'll help as much as we can." He said solemnly. Moments later Scorpius was done healing my cut and we decided collapsed back on the couch. After talking for a little while my mind started to drift and I was thrown into a deep sleep.
Something hard hit my side and I woke up. "What the bloody hell was that for?" I cried massaging my sore hip. "I need to call my grandfather." Scorpius muttered under his breath. "You what?" I asked. "I need to bring him here." He whispered. "I need to bring him here so he can kill you." He said looking up abruptly. He had a wild look in his eye and I knew what was happening. "Scorpius, it's me." I tried to grab his hand but he pulled away. "He told me you would try and seduce me. Well, it's not going to work. I have to bring him here to kill you." He said as he stood up. I stood up to and ran in front of him. Usually when he was in this state he just forgot things. He never mentioned killing me.
"You don't have to bring anyone here, Scorpius. Just try and remember. It's me, Rose." I said desperately. "I know who you are. You're the daughter of a mudblood and a blood traitor." He hissed. My breath caught in my throat. "No, I'm your wife. You love me. You want to kill Lucius, not work with him." I said steadily. "You're lying." He yelled. "I'm not. I promise." Silence followed. "If you just give me a minute then I can go and get Al. Maybe he'll jog your memory." I said hoping this would work. I knew that he'd snap out of this soon. I just needed to stall a little longer. I couldn't let him do something stupid.
"Lucius said you would lie to me. I just need to bring you to him." He said as he roughly grabbed my arm. "Get off of me." I yelled. Pulling away I faced him. "Scorpius, this isn't you. You haven't talked to Lucius one on one in months. You're not in your right state of mind." I said. All of a sudden the front door burst open and Lucius walked in. No. This couldn't be happening. Life is falling apart as we know it.
"Ah, so you did as you were told, Scorpius." Lucius led with a smirk. Scorpius nodded. "What did you tell him to do? What's wrong with him?" I asked. "All he had to do was stall you until I could get here." Lucius said with a laugh. I tried to move towards Scorpius. Without hesitation he pulled his wand out and stunned me. Flying backwards I landed on my arm with a sickening crunch. I cried out in pain and looked down. Yep, it was broken. Standing up it hung limply at my side and throbbed uncontrollably. "What did you do to him." I said through gritted teeth.
"Nothing, I just helped him reach is full potential." Lucius said with a smile. "This isn't him. You need to fix him." I said as tears gathered in my eyes. "Trust me, he won't be fixed for a long, long time. Now, you have two options. Come with us, or, he can kill you." Lucius said as he stepped back. It seemed as if Scorpius and I were the only two in the room. I needed him to remember. Reaching up I wrapped my good arm around his neck and kissed him hoping that it would remind him that he loved me and that he didn't want to work with Lucius. I pulled back holding my breath. He looked stunned. "Scorpius?" I whispered.
He flinched and then his eyes focused in on me. "Don't ever touch me again." He said as he pulled out his wand. "Cucio!" He cried. As if in slow motion the spell hurtled towards me. I fell to the floor and felt myself start to scream. The pain was just too much. My arm was already broken and when I fell I had heard another crunch. I think it was my knee. I could hear Scorpius and Lucius laughing at me. My brain was barely functioning. But I knew one thing. I needed to get out of here with or without Scorpius. I knew that if he was in his right state of mind he'd want me to escape. So, ignoring the mind numbing pain coming from both my arm and knee I sat up.
"Stupefy." I shouted as I pointed my wand at Lucius. He fell to the ground. I then pointed my wand towards Scorpius. Our eyes met and I couldn't do it. I couldn't hurt him. But I had to leave. "I love you." I whispered. Hoping I'd seen him again I apparated away with a 'pop'
I landed in a sitting position in Al's room. Both him and Alice looked up wildly when I dropped in. "What's wrong? Where's Scorpius?" Al asked as he rushed to my side. As soon as his name was mentioned all of the emotions I'd been holding in were brought up. I started to cry. Hard. "Rose, you need to talk to us. Should we go and get help?" Alice asked. "My arm's broken. I think my knee is too." I mumbled looking down at them. Al drew in a sharp breath. "Ok, Alice, go get Victoire and Teddy. No one else until we figure out what happened. Alice nodded and rushed out of the room.
"I'm not going to try and move you until Vic gets here. She's the healer so she'll know what to do." He said confidently. "I nodded and bit my lip. Scorpius was gone. He was gone and it was impossible to know the next time I'd see him. Seconds later Vic, Teddy and Alice ran in all looking panicked. "Rose, what happened?" Teddy asked wildly. I couldn't speak because if I did I'd just cry harder. Ignoring Teddy altogether Vic came to my side. "What hurts?" She asked gently. I took a deep breath. "My right arm and knee." I said shakily. "Ok, I'm going to levitate you to the bed." She said steadily. I nodded and felt myself moving through the air then gently landing.
Without out asking she started to touch my arm and knee causing me to flinch every few seconds. "Yep, they're broken. Hold on, this might hurt a little bit." Teddy quickly cast the muffliato charm around the room. "I don't have anything to numb the areas. Just hold Al's hand." She said as she let out a deep breath and I did as I was told. "Brackium Emendo." She said as she pointed her wand at my arm. A shooting pain shot up me and I let out a small yell. "I know, it sucks. I just have to do it again for your knee." I nodded and held onto Al even tighter. She repeated the incantation and I felt the same pain. "Ok, you're healed. You'll be pretty sore and I don't suggest moving to much in the next few hours."
We all sat in silence for a minute. "Rose, would you mind telling us where Scorpius is?" Alice asked gently. At the mention of his name tears automatically filled my eyes. "He's gone." I whispered. "He's what?" Al asked with a furrowed brow. "He's gone. He tried to kill me." The sentence itself felt like it was trying to strangle me. Lucius had messed Scorpius so much that he'd tried to kill me. And usually, Scorpius snaps out of his "spells" fairly quickly. What happens when he wakes up and Lucius is there? He'd be all alone in some cell. I couldn't handle it.
My tears were coming even faster. "He tried to kill you?" Vic asked exasperated. "Not on purpose. Lucius charmed him or did something because he woke up and didn't remember me. He thought he was on Lucius's side. Then somehow Lucius showed up and they tried to kill me." I said as I tried to wipe away my tears. They all looked stunned. "Where are they now?" Al asked breaking the silence. "My flat. I stunned Lucius and left."
"Did you stun Scorpius? He could get away." Al said. "I couldn't hurt him. If you were asked to hurt Alice, would you do it?" I asked. He shook his head. "What if Scorpius has some master plan. Maybe he'll kill Lucius and then come back." Teddy prompted. Everyone else nodded in agreement. "No, there's no "master plan". If there was then he wouldn't of used the cruciatus curse on me." I said. The words tasted bitter on my tongue. Everyone gasped. "I didn't realize-" Teddy led. "It's fine." I said cutting him off.
"Enough about me, how are you guys holding up. The funeral only ended a couple of hours ago." I said. "I'm fine." Al said quickly. Alice sighed and moved to where his arm was around her. "He's never going to stop acting like he's ok." She whispered to me. I ignored her and turned to Teddy. "What about you, Ted?" I asked. "It's definitely been hard. But I'm better now." He said with a small smile. We all talked a little while longer before I started to drift off. Half way between consciousness and sleep I guess everyone thought I was out.
"Poor kid can't catch a break." Teddy said some what sadly. "I know. I feel bad. It's just one thing after another. How much more do you think she can handle?" Asked Vic. "She'll be ok. Once we get Scorp back at least." Al said. "I think the break in her knee is more serious then I thought. Her arm healed fine but even from where I'm sitting I can see that her leg is swollen." Vic said with a sigh. "You can look at it more when she wakes up." Said Alice.
"I've been thinking about this a lot lately and I've realized something. None of these problems started until Scorpius came into the picture." Teddy said. I heard the sound of a wand being drawn. "Don't ever say that again." Al said angrily. "I'm sorry. I was just thinking out loud. You can put you wand away." He said quickly. "No. None of this is Scorpius's fault. Trouble seems to find our family anyways. Even if Rose hadn't started dating him we would of gotten involved one way or another. I knew about the Lucius situation even before she did. I would've gotten help eventually." He said. "I really didn't mean to upset you. I'm sorry." Teddy said. "It's fine. It's just that he's my best mate and he's gone through a lot more than the rest of us. Merlin knows what's happening to him right now." Al said as he trailed off.
"Do you think we should tell our parents that Lucius has him?" Vic asked. "Rose told us not to. As soon as she gives us the okay then we will." Alice said. The more they continued to talk the more their voices faded together. The throbbing in my leg seemed to go away and I was thrown into a deep sleep. For once Lucius didn't haunt my dreams and damn did it feel good.
Hey guys! So, I just want to warn you. As much as it pains me to say this, I think this story is coming to an end. There will still be a few chapter left but I just wanted to say it so it doesn't come out of nowhere. I've been working on these books (all two of them lol) for over a year and it's going to be really hard not writing every day. Anyways, I hope you're all enjoying it. Please keep reading, COMMENTING, and voting! XOXO:)))
