Your Highness
Vansh Rai Singhania
What I thought to be just an normal day with whole lot of prayers, and Aroura being closed off and behaving cold which is pretty normal for me now, brought much more then it should have, broke a already broken person, and made us know a secret that is fucking gonna change everything....
I looked at Aroura Cursing the world sitting on the roof top, this state of her made my heart clench.
Earlier that day.
I got up early in the morning, by early I meant 9 AM, for a night owl like me it's far too the earliest.
Dolly Aunty told me to dress in whites, so after taking a quick shower, I dressed in a simple white shirt and trousers, and left the top 3 buttons open.
(Vansh's Outfit)
I sprayed perfume, and then stepped out of my room, just then I bumped into someone, she had a basket of flowers in her hands that flew in the air, making all the flowers to rain at us, and she was no one else but Aroura.
We kept looking at each other, as I held her in my arms, electricity sparked in my body, some cleared throat, we turned our head to the right, Dolly Aunty and Jass Uncle were standing there with a weird smile on their faces.
"Mom dad?"
She whispered freeing herself from me, that's when I realized she was dressed in a Ankle length suit, her hairs in a bun that have flower petals in it now, the gold earrings replaced her regular silver piercings, she looked mesmerizing-ly beautiful.
(Aroura's outfit)
"Vansh? Kaha kho gaye?"
She asked, I wanted say, tum main kho gaya.
"No, nothing, what happened?"
I asked.
"Oh, I was saying can you get another flower basket from backyard? The white one please, I have other works to do"
She said and ran away before I can reply, I shrugged and went in the backyard, where all the people were doing work, I wonder what is going on in Aurora's head, she must be so sad as I took the basket full of white petals, and went inside, I placed it in the room.
There was a GuruGranth Sahib in the center with a man dressed in whites sitting behind it, there was also 3 other men sitting with harmoniums and microphones in front of them, after all Oberoi's are Traditionally Punjabi, and today is the death anniversary of there parents, but I don't know why, all I can think about is Aroura, she might be breaking from inside.
"Vansh beta, idhar ao"
Jass Uncle called, I went outside, and saw mom dad standing there.
"Mom"
I said and hugged her.
"Ha ha baap ki to bilkul yad he nahi ayi"
Dad said, I hugged him too.
"App na melodrama he karte raho"
I said and everyone laughed.
"Are wase Aroura kaha hai?"
Mom asked, I looked at her suspiciously.
"She is a bit busy, actually she is helping in all the work since 4 AM, she must be resting right now"
Jass Uncle said, but it seems to be lie, I think I am thinking so much.
"Oh, it's fine, let the kid rest"
Mom said, as everyone went in, and the guests started coming too, except for Dolly Aunty.
"She is in her room"
She whispered and went in, I looked at her confused, what did she mean? Was she talking about Aroura?
I went in, and passed through different elderly people, I was about to take stairs but mama ji stopped.
"Vansh beta? Kaha ja rahe ho?"
He asked.
"Mama ji, wo just upar kush kam hai"
I said, he nodded and I went upstairs.
I slowly opened the door of her room, without making any noise, I entered in, as usual lights were dim, but today it was more gloomy than ever, the only light that was coming from a crystal lamp in front of her bed, I looked around she wasn't in the room, just as I turned around to leave, my eyes fell on the silhouette in the dark corner if the room sitting on the floor beside the bed.
"Aroura?... roi?"
I went near her kneeling down in front of her I saw her trembling, she had earphones so she didn't heard me, her arms folded around her keens holding them close, her face pressed against her keens and the music from earphone can be hear by me too, I placed my hand on hers, she looked up, her eyes were red but she wasn't crying, she was breathing really hard, I tried to take out her earphones but she placed her hands on her ears.
"Aroura, listen to me please"
I said.
"No... no...please leave me alone... le..ave...me...please..
She said gasping for air.
I hugged her, and patted her back slowly, she struggled for sometimes before calming down, I don't know for how long we sat like that, the music from her earphones mixed with the Gurbani from downstairs.
I slowly took out the earphones, she put her fingers in the ear trying to stop the noise.
"Aroura what's wrong? Tell me please"
I asked her, I haven't seen her this weak before, not even when she confessed her past.
"Vansh...I..I can't...please... I can't"
She whispered.
"You can't what Aroura?"
I was desperate to know what's wrong.
"I can't listen to gurbani please, I just can't"
She said in a low voice.
"But why?"
"It, it makes me remember... everything... I can't... I hate God... I haven't been to gurudawara in last 5 years... God had destroyed my family.... I can't forget that day.....everyone.... was...everyone was saying sorry.... but for what?... my perents are dead.... can't we just don't listen to them chanting..... it ... it gives me panic attacks....please"
She said looking at me, I held both her hands.
"Aroura, let it all out, you can do it, you have to welcome the pain you have been running away from, otherwise you won't be able to let go of it, cry out, scream... but don't suppress it... you need a way to let go of it... try...please... for you... do it for Yourself"
I said, slowly rubbing at her hands, she really needs to let go, a deep rooted sob escaped her lips, as tears started falling down from her eyes, one after another, the pain from last 5 years she have been hiding has finally came out.
She hugged me crying more and more.
"Why? Why they left me Vansh.... my everything was taken away...why god did this to me...
It wasn't her, it was the kid in her, that was asking this question.
"Aroura, one day everyone is gonna leave us, sooner or later, we don't have any control over death, but we do have control over our lives, how you want to live it, happily? Or in pain? It's your choice, and you have to decide it for yourself"
I said in her ear, as I patted her back, as she was crying her eyes out, for the first time in years, my cheek pressed against her head as I placed a small kiss on the top of her head.
After what felt like hours she pulled away and looked down, I put my finger under her chin and lifted her face up.
"Will you come downstairs with me?"
I asked, she was sacred, for the first time her emotions were so bare, but she nodded slowly.
"You say it right, for Letting go of the pain, I have to welcome it first"
She said, I stood up and helped her up, we walked out of her room.
I held her hand and put my arm around her shoulder, as we walked downstairs, everyone from the family was looking at us with shock clearly written on their faces.
We went up to the Guru Granth Sahib (holy book in sikhism, the last and final god for sikhs) the chanting was still going on, I looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile, she slowly turned to face in front, and joined her hands, then closed her eyes, I did the same.
Aroura's PoV
I bowed down in front of what we call god, finally after 5 years, on this same day I refused to believe in god anymore, I never prayed to god after that, never did the chants, nor I took the Prasad, I didn't asked for god to help me in anyway like I used to as a kid.
But god today I am giving you a second chance, I am putting my trust in you again, please don't make me regret it.
(Back to Vansh's POV)
Dolly Aunty came to me after the food was served to everyone.
"Thank you Vansh beta, thank you so much, you don't know what you have did for Aroura, for us"
She said, patting my hands.
"Aunty I did what I felt was right, no need to thank me, she really need to let go of her pain, I wish her to be happy"
I said and looked at Aroura who was smiling at Sofia.
"You are really the right person for her, who understands her pain"
She said I looked at her shocked.
"What are you saying Aunty?"
I asked, though I know what she is gonna say.
"I know you like her, more then like maybe, it's okay we approve of that"
She said with a smile and left to some work.
"Vansh"
I turned around Aroura was standing behind me.
"Yes?"
"Would you like to come with me to the orphanage? For doing the donations?"
She asked, I nodded with a smile.
*******
After spending 3 hours at the orphanage we finally came back home it's 7 PM now.
I parked the car outside, and we stepped out.
There was a white limousine standing outside our house with 4 Range Rovers, and a BMW, with alot of men dressed in black, there was also men standing in front of our main gate, and even when we entered in there were 4 men who were dressed in white were standing just outside the main entrance.
"What's going on here?"
Aroura mumbled to me, I shook my head.
"How would I know?"
I replied.
We went in as no one stopped us.
Mom, dad, Dolly Aunty, Jass Uncle, were sitting on in the living room were all the program was held, no it was back to normal, but what wasn't normal was there was a old men must be in his late 70s, a couple in there early 50s, a guy in 30s and one in late 20s, were sitting there too, and fun fact I know them.
"Your Highness, how comes we have the pleasure of have you in our house?"
Aroura said, she know them?
