The Little Irishman That Lost His Mind
Matthias P.O.V.
'What happened to Felix?' you ask as you find yourself sweating and shaking because of the fear that something could have happened to Felix. Your life is shattered enough, yet the demons find you highly interesting and play around with you like a toy.
They take away everything that you hold dear, first Mark and now Felix. You know that Felix was drunk, something he shouldn't have been, but everyone makes mistakes from time to time.
Your hands shiver and shake, exposing your feeling to the world. You take her hand even stronger, knowing how she must feel now. It is her bloody boyfriend, the one person she loves the most. You feel how you start to cry again, tears streaming down your face.
You try to not make any noise, as you think that you are not worthy of bothering other people with your problems. As you rub your hands against your puffy eyes, Marzia slowly looks down to the ground, ashamed of what her boyfriend has done. And when she looks up, she sees one of her friends completely broken, yet trying to be strong so he can comfort her.
She searches her jacket for a tissue, and as she finds one she hands it over to her friend. You decline as her pick fingers reach towards you with the tissue that could suck up all of your tears. You think she is going to need them more, once she has heard about Mark.
And yes, you understand it is not your story to share. Though you think that people have to know what is going on with their friend, especially when they are so close. You remember you asked Marzia to explain her present here, at this hour, which she slowly does.
'Felix g- got in an accident. He crashed into s- Sean and some girl. They were- they were on a date!' Marzia cries as she leans in for another hug. As you try to be strong for her, you feel how your heart stops beating. You try to stay alive, as your soul slowly dies within you.
You rub her back; tell her it is going to be okay as the demons fire their arrows on the two of you. You jump in front of Marzia, while the demons anger themselves as you tend to be a bigger hero than they thought. You take in all of the pain and sadness, hoping that Marzia will stay as pure as she has always been. That she will continue carrying this eternal light she has held in her hands for years.
'S-Sean is hurt, Matthias. His leg, his side, the doctors said it wasn't bad but still. He isn't strong enough for this cruelty let alone for-' You don't let her end her sentence as you can predict what she is going to tell you. It is always something horrible, never something nice. Death, pain, sadness, everything you never hoped to find in your life and now they are your basic things, keeping everything together like glue.
'Look on the bright side, Felix is fine. And Y/N probably too,' and that is where you make a fatal mistake. Probably. If you say probably, you don't know for sure. And if you don't know for sure, you will go insane to actually know for sure. And you can't handle that too.
'Is that her name? Y/N?' Marzia looks up at you, smiling because you have granted her a bit of sunshine in the horrible dungeon she must be in. You show her the light, as her eyes water again. She smiles as you confirm what she though, slowly but surely giving in to a bit of happiness.
'Yes, she is Sean's girlfriend,' you whisper and Marzia shows a sign of joy as you expose Y/N to her. She wipes her tears away, knowing that she shouldn't be crying. She hugs you even tighter, as she realises she is going to have a new family member. What she doesn't know is that Mark has a plus one too.
'But she is not the reason I'm here,' you say slowly and Marzia stares at you again, hoping you aren't going to tell her the fatal truth you have witnessed earlier. On the moment she spotted you in the hospital, she knew you weren't here for Felix. She just didn't know any reason for you to walk inside the hospital.
'Than tell me, why are you here?' she says in her accent. She takes your hand, thinking it might comfort you. It only makes you worry more. If you tell her, she is going to have a breakdown, Felix drunk and Mark dying. No one can handle that, not even you.
'Mark is dying. Felix and I found him,' you whisper, guessing that you must be a crying mess by now. You cry more these past hours than you have cried in days, or weeks, or months. You cry more than you have cried this entire year. Just as Marzia wants to dry your tears, you stop her as she turns out to be sobbing too. No wonder that she is a walking ocean, she will maybe loose on of her friends. She cannot bare another person she loves just vanishing from her life.
The fallen angles already took Jack, which this pretty lady doesn't know yet. She has not even a clue about what is happening to the little Irishman. The little Irishman that lost his mind. And you are set on it to keep it this way; she first needs to deal with Felix and Mark. After that, she is ready to know about Jack.
'Dying?' she takes it even harder than you though she would. She burst out in tears again, and how harder you try calming her down the more she comes closer to the edge of mental suffering. You hug her and make sure she is going to be fine, depending on what you call fine.
You guess Mark is been taken care of, and that your present would only make things worse. So you wait with Marzia, hoping that she will calm down to the level that you can search for Felix and the others. Knowing it will take some time, you hug her tighter, making sure she is comfortable enough to let her deepest fear come out.
'Matthias!' a sudden voice yells, a voice you have spoken to before. You let go of Marzia to look around the hospital, trying to find the person to whom this call belongs. As another call fills the room, you find its owner who is looking around everywhere as she has no idea how you look and that she is even looking for you.
She has big beautiful eyes, red and puffy of crying. Her cheeks are wet, her mascara a bit watery. Her hands are shaking, her hair is in a messy bun and she is carrying a suitcase on her right hand. As she scans the crowd for you, you try making your way through the people.
You leave Marzia alone, a choice she understands. She slowly walks away, taking her pain and bottled anger with her to a quest to find her boyfriend. She waves goodbye, realising you aren't watching her. She seems to not care as she starts looking for her blond love. Her heels click on the concrete once more before you bump into the person calling your name.
'Matthias?' she asks and you stare at the lady. She is crying without any noise yet she is making clear that she hates the reason she is in the hospital. She stays away from you, afraid because you are one total stranger. And she was taught to never trust a stranger.
'Yea, that means you're F/N?' you whisper and she stays on the same distance as before. You respect her privacy, take a step back and hope that it will calm her down. The contrary happens as she seems to cry even more than she did when she came into this place.
She almost crushes the handle of her suitcase and quickly wipes her tears away; as she slowly confirms that she is the person you're looking for. Not only does she show anxiety and sadness, she seems to also show love. You never thought that she would be able to feel anything else than rage and sadness, but she keeps her head above the water and tends to calm herself down.
You show her the way to what you presume is the helping desk, where you will ask for Mark, and of course for Felix. She slowly understands your hint and walks with you to the big white desk, hoping to find out where her Mark is staying right now.
After a long conversation with the lady on the desk, and a lot of tears, you get told the way to the intensive care, a place for patients that doctors are worried about. That is not something good, although it also is calming to know that Mark is in excellent care.
As you try t convince F/N that it is better to see Mark than to wait here for one of her friends to arrive, she slowly nods as she follows you to the elevator. The sudden peace you were able to bring between you is disturbed by the noise of a phone. The girl looks at her screen and realises she doesn't have to wait for her friend anymore. Her friend is already in the hospital.
'O god, Y/N,' she whispers and thereby answers the question you asked her on the phone. "Are you Y/N's friend too?" As she continues to cry, she not only cries for her crush, but also for her bestie. She whispers the text, a bad habit people tend to have. As she reads what happened, she stops the elevator as quick as she can. On the moment she wants to walk away, she looks back at you.
'Go,' you tell her and she takes off. You yourself wait for the elevator to get up again, only followed by multiple noises from the outside. As you realise you know the voice breaking through the soundproof walls of the elevator, you leave the iron monster too, following the Irish voice you just heard.
