√ THIRTY THREE √
Juola sat emotionlessly in the church staring into space. Ike had just been laid to rest and after crying when she died, Juola had found it hard to shed a single tear.
No matter how hard he tried, no tear would slide down his cheeks. Nothing seemed to hold the ability to stay in his head or mind. His head seemed to be extremely light as he stared at his black shoes.
She was gone.
Forever.
Two facts that could never change. She had even died in his arms. Even though he didn't get to tell her goodbye, she died in his arms which was a double blessing and curse together.
He was glad that hr was there with her in her last moments. It was the best thing that could have ever happened and she dying in his arms was something he could never forget.
A pair of bigger black shoes appeared in front of him and Juola looked up as he blinked his eyes.
"Dad" Juola called as the older man pulled him for a hug and the tears that seemed to not have been able to drop for days burst their banks and came down in an heavy downpour.
On the internet was another trend trending. And like days before, the retweets were increasing as each second ticked by.
#RestInPeaceIke.
And within hours, it was the number one trending tweet and instantly skyrocketed when Suga also posted on his official twitter account.
In our next lives, I hope we meet again. Rest in Peace Ike.
#RestInPeaceIke.
BTS official account followed and soon it was a worldwide trend. Everywhere seemed to be quiet and everyone seemed to be thinking, lost in their thoughts.
Life, could be short.
Juola flipped through his notes as a siren was heard all over the school. Sirens were used to announce assemblies. Juola looked up from his note and looked around.
Everyone in the class seemed to be sharing the same confused look as he was. He watched as the students stood up and began walking towards the Assembly Hall.
"Juola" someone called from the door as Juola sighed and closed his note. Putting a pen in the note to indicate where he had stopped before walking out of the class.
It had been two weeks since Ike had died. Everything and Everyone seemed to have returned back to their daily lives. As the First terms examinations were approaching, everyone was preparing hard.
Till that very moment, Juola didn't know how he had been living, walking, eating or even breathing. He probably ate so just in case he wouldn't drop dead as well.
And ever since they came back to school, Gbogo had stuck to him like glue. Following him and dragging him everywhere. Made him laugh a few times and Juola needed no one to tell him who had told him to do that. Deep down in his heart, he was grateful.
Gloria and Chidima sat down in the large hall as Gloria glanced at Juola who seemed to be staring at the podium with no expression in his eyes. His eyes had been ever dull since Ike died. She swallowed her saliva as the projector suddenly came on and a video started playing showing Ikeoluwa seating down in her room. Juola shot up to his feet immediately.
"Is this already playing?" Ike asked as she checked her phone camera and laughed before she sat down and smiled.
"Hello everyone, my name is Adeniyi Ikeoluwa and I have leukamia. Infact by the time you see this video, I should be dead else this video won't ever get out. So I'm going to tell you all my story. I got diagnosed with leukamia when I was around five or six years old. You could imagine telling a five year old that she's going to die before she clicks sixteen or eighteen" Ike said as she laughed and smiled.
"So in summary, I was so little when I was made ro understand how this life works. Unfortunately, my ailment didn't allow me to dream or look forward to anything. Yeah, I had the brains but they were useless"
"So when I was told about two months ago that I had two months left to leave, I wasn't anxious or scared. There was actually no difference; it was just that I knew when I was going to die, the fact remained that I would still die in the end but then God sent me someone" Ike said as she grinned widely.
"In my seventeen years of existence, none of the years I had spent mattered to me like my last two months. They were the best months in my entire life. I was just want to say thank you to everyone. Every single person who made me realize my dreams"
"I found it hard to believe that people who didn't know me would retweet my story and repost it. I felt so loved and I was so happy. Thank you very much. To my best friends Gloria and Chidima; I probably never told you guys these before but you are the best of the best. All those years, I could live through them thanks to you two. Gloria, I know Chidima is a chatterbox but listen to her huh? She makes a lot of sense sometimes" Ike said laughing.
"And Chidima, don't always argue with Gloria. You are always on the loosing end. Gbogo, thank you. Very much" Ike said as she played with her fingers.
"Juola, I don't want you to be like me. I want you to live not survive. I want you to be happy as well. Very happy" Ike said as she smiled and everyone could see that she was holding her tears.
"I love you" Ikeoluwa said as she took a pause.
"I realized a lot of things during this short time I had left. That the amount of time or years you spend on earth doesn't matter that much. What matters is what you do with the time or years you spend. Some people die and for centuries; they are remembered when some are forgotten as soon as they are dead. I want to be a kind of person that will forever live in my loved ones heart" Ike said as she smiled.
"Life could be short, it could be long. Just live through it and don't forget to trust God. If anything I am happy about is that; in my lifetime, I was loved" Ike said as she wiped the lone tear that slid down her cheeks.
"Till we meet again. Goodbye".
The video went blank after that. Almost everyone in the hall had tears running down their cheeks. Chidima was crying hard and sobbing loudly while Gloria was hugging her and crying.
Juola was staring at the blank wall as his eyes turned red. Someone tapped him and he turned to see Gbogo with a teary face.
"Need a hug?" Gbogo asked as Juola moved closer to him and hugged him trying not to cry.
"You want me to make Juola my best friend?" Gbogo asked as Ike nodded.
"Girl, you kidding right? You know that we even don't get along that well. He only opens to you" Gbogo added as Ike chuckled.
"The make him open up to you as well. You are a guy, it was would even be easier" Ike replied as she sighed.
"I'm scared he'll become closed out again. When I'm gone. He might withdraw into his shell again. Close himself off from the world and I don't want that to happen" Ike said as Gbogo swallowed his saliva as he sighed.
"I just want you to watch out for him. Talk to him, listen to him when he needs and give him warm hugs. Create hangouts and you guys go out and have fun, just make sure he smiles and laughs from time to time. Please Gbogo" Ike added her eyes pleading.
The video went viral as well and the internet that seemed to have gone quiet went hyper again as her ending was been reposted everywhere. A new trend started trying as well.

At the gate of De Royals College, Lagos were huge notes piled on top of each other. As some of the students walked into the school, they stopped picking up their pens and writing in the notes before walking further into the school.
The gateman sighed as he glanced at the pile of notes that seemed to be increasing everyday. They were all condolence messages to Ike.
The first book on the pile opened and the first page came to view. Juola had been the first person to write in the note. It was only a line but carried all kinds of meanings.
To the strongest girl I know, rest in peace Ike.
- Juola.
To the best girl in the world, thanks for always listening to me. If I was reborn again, I want to be your sister. Rest in peace Ike.
- Chidima.
In my entire life, I've never met anyone with a smile like yours. A smile capable to lighting up the whole world. If anything, I'm grateful for all the smiles you gave me every morning. Till we meet again Ike, rest in peace.
- Gloria.
When I die, I want to be remembered, not by everyone that by my loved ones. I want to live forever in their hearts, not so that they will cry when they remember me but they will wear smiles on their faces and laugh not necessary happily but not sadly.
- Ikeoluwa.
THE END.
