ALISHA'S P.O.V.
Pain is something that's inevitable , so is change. Change is something that always happens, something that we just can't have any control of, on matter how much we wished we tired or wished we could in our lives.
I was never really a fan of changes. I preferred everything to be the way it had always been and the biggest change in my life took place three years ago.
My father cheated his wife and two daughters and didn't look back, he forgot his family and all those years we spent together as a family.
All those years I kept thinking that he was with my mom and sister but instead he was with some other woman , abandoning his family like we never existed to him ,but it was okay.
It was okay because i forgive him i didn't hold any grudges isn't the answer.
Forgiveness is the key if you don't forgive, you won't be at peace you just constantly give yourself heartache and hate something that's not worth it.
Letting go isn't always the simplest option, but in situation like these,it is always the best option.
Sometimes I really don't understand and that woman , when I asked her why she said '' I witnessed the betrayal first hand and I don't hold any thing against him . He made his choice and I made mine .I had to let go , I had to be strong ''.
She really is the exact definition of a virtuous woman . There was one thing I never understood about my mom and I probably never will.
She said that forgiveness doesn't show weakness but it does make you stronger, that its easier to do nothing but its hard to open your heart to someone and forgive that person but it makes you stronger because you're letting go of all the things that hold you back.
She said that what happened should never make us loose trust in people that we knew we could trust because of this and that there are certain people in our lives that only come to break us, some come to mould us and make us better than before, but that some people didn't have people to remould them when they were broken and so they had to pick up the pieces themselves and put them back together in the best way possible and they came out stronger than ever.
My mother could handle any situation that came her way, I was absolutely sure of it.
To think of it, I would would have never handled it like my mother did.
I would have broken down in tears right there and then.
I was never really a fan of confrontation, but my mom was, when necessary.
Alessia on the other hand, she lived for confrontation.
She was the find of girl that you couldn't mess with 'cause if you make that mistake and shit hits the fan,she would show you your fucking place and make you crawl back into the shitty hole you crawled out of.
She wasn't arrogant like the likes of Zarha, Demi and Maya, just that she was this 'I wont take your crap so get out of my face' kind of girl.
Which makes me kinda grateful because I wouldn't be able to do that.
School was resuming in less than a week and I haven't seen or heard from Jayden since over a week, but I couldn't worry about him now. I could always see him in school, I mean, we were friends and that's all nothing more.
I had accepted the very painful reality of it, that as much as I would like to think that we could have that kind of relationship because all the stories I'd read in books and on the internet, he would probably end up on the football team with Zarha, Maya or even Demi as his girlfriend but then he falls for an unattractive girl like me and they fall in love graduate and live happily ever after.
Yeah, that can't happen in my life....
And it was definitely not happening.
It would have still been nice to hear from him, because at this point, I really needed a break from all the drama that just unfolded a couple of days ago.
Mom and Alessia went to my school to get Alessia's transfer process completed, so Alessia was starting freshman year Winston high in the second half of the term but with her grades, she could pull it off.
I know she could. It just hit me that I had been sitting on the bed in my room since they left for the school, occupied in my own thoughts.
We all had breakfast so there was no reason to cook.
Just as I was getting up, Alessia walked through the door, straight to me. She was in a purple top and black ripped jeans and black and neon purple sneakers.
Just as they reached me, I asked "So how did it go?"
When I asked this, she was looking down to the floor and I was mentally preparing myself for the 'don't worry, you'll do better next time' speech that that people always give when things like this happen.
She looked up at me and gave me her toothy smile that I had missed so much and said "I got in."
I quickly got up and hugged her while we were squealing and holding each others arms and turning around like we were playing ring-a-round-a-rosey.
When we finally stopped, I said,
"I'm so happy for you. You'll love it at Winston high."
She hugged me once more and said, "I know I will, because we'll be together again."
I kissed her forehead hugged her once again and said,"We will."
After our little emotional moment, I asked her, "Where's mom?"
"She's in the kitchen."She said as we were going out of my room.
When we got downstairs we were greeted with the delicious smell food I had never smelt in my life.
We went into the kitchen and said "Hi mom, need any help?"
"No dears," She said now frying a tomato paste and onions in the pot and seasoning it at the same time.
Seeing everything from the pot of boiled shredded chicken along with the stock in a pot on the table to the spaghetti boiling on the kitchen stove,I just had to ask.
"What are you making?"
"Jollof spaghetti. I felt like mixing things up today and I picked up on African cuisine in Nigeria so why not."
Alessia jumped in by saying,"You mean Jollof rice?"Mom looked at her and said,"As I so clearly said before, I am mixing things up a little bit."
After she said that, left the pot of the tomato paste frying and went that of the spaghetti boiling took it to the sink and sieved the water out of it and kept it aside.
She gave us a look and pointed to the pot of chicken and stock and signalled for us to get it for her.
I went towards the pot grabbed a pot holder and took the pot to her.
She took it from me and poured the contents into the pot of tomatoes frying.
It made a kind of sauce which was still thick, so she said it was perfect like that.
She then took the pot of spaghetti and poured it into the sauce.
Once it was in , she stirred it so that the sauce spread to all of the spaghetti.
We brought out the leftover meatballs from the fridge and added them into the pot and left them to steam for a bit before putting off the stove.
When she was done, it was already lunchtime.
We sat down at the dinning table and ate.
The jollof spaghetti was absolutely delicious.
It was a bit spicy but I loved spicy food, one of the things I got from my dad.
Adding this to the long list of dishes I already knew how to cook.
Almost everyone, learned from my mom.
As I looked around me, and saw my mom and sister eating quietly, I realized how much I missed this.
It was going to be like this for us from here on out.
This was our new beginning, God had given us a chance to move on from the past and start over.
ALESSIA'S P.O.V.
Note to self: I have to ask Alisha who the boy is that has got her so whipped.
When I got back from Alisha's school, went to her room and the door was open a crack so I took a tiny peek, okay a big peek.
I saw her on her sitting on her bed that had been laid with purple bed sheets by yours truly.
She was wearing purple boxers and a white body hug shirt that showed off her curvy body.
Oh, there was something going on.
I could bet my lucky penny that she had been sitting there since we left, staring into space.
I told her I got in, we went downstairs, helped with the cooking, had lunch with mom and now we were in her room just looking at each other.
I was patiently waiting for to tell me who the boy is that has got her wrapped around his little finger, but since she didn't say anything I knew she wasn't planning on bringing it up anytime soon. So,I did the honours.
"So, spill... Who's the boy?"
She looked at me like I just told her I wanted to marry Demi Lovato and sing skyscraper at the top a skyscraper.
"What boy?"She said trying to lie to me and so terribly failing.
"The one that's got you wrapped around his little finger." I said raising an eyebrow at her.
"There's nothing going on between-" was what she was saying when I cut her off.
She her face was red like a ripe tomato.
Oh no,there had to be something.
"What's his name?"I asked looking at her with more than laughter on my face.
"Jayden."She said, now looking down.
My smile grew wider at the thought.
"Tell me all about him."I said urging her to go on, giving her my best pouty face and puppy dog eyes, my ever efficient secret weapon on Alisha.
"Okay. He's eighteen, really tall, really good looking, heart of gold, mischievous, smile that lights up a room, these electric deep blue eyes."
Her description of this boy earned a few squeals from me and trust me, that does not happen often.
"Does he drive?"
"Yes."
"Is he your boyfriend?"
I could tell that question caught her off guard with the way she looked at me like she wanted to murder me.
"There's nothing going on between us and there will never be."
She jumped on me and tackled me as we were both in a fit of laughs.
After a few minutes of rolling, goofing off and laughing.
I got up and went to my room for a quick nap.
If there was anything going on between my sister and this mysterious 'Jayden', would be decided by me.
I didn't know who he was but I could already tell that we were going to be good friends.
I could already tell what the answer was.
I smiled to myself as I entered my room, shut the door and plopped down on my blue bed sheets.
Alisha and I always did that, we would decorate our rooms in our favourite colours with few accessories of the other sisters favourite colour and our moms favourite as well.
Her room was decorated in blue with few purples and reds, mine was decorated in purples with few blues and reds.
Our moms was in white, her room was in white with a few red, blue and purple accessories.
Before I knew it, I drifted off into a blissful sleep.
With my last thoughts before sleep being my sister is in love with him already.
It was obvious, they way her eyes lit up when she mentioned his name or when she was describing him... it was like she was in a whole other world when she was with him...
and that brought me to....
Alisha and Jayden, sitting in a tree.
K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
A/N:
Awwwwwwww.... I really want a baby sister now.
They're so cute...but I miss Jayden.
Jayden will be back in action in the next chapter guys...The same Jayden we all have come to know and love.
On the other hand, I really want some jollof 🍝 right now.
Alisha and Alessia are what I like to think of as sibling goals... What do you think Alessia is going to do when she sees Jayden for the first time...
How will she even meet Jayden?
Well have to wait to find out though...
I really can't wait to see.
