"Assalam Alaikum. I prefer to go by Om Yaseen now, but I reverted to Islam 3 years ago, alhamdulilah. I was a Christian by name but never felt it in my heart and knew something was missing. I grew up with very conservative parents and they were very anti-Islam and taught me to be like that as well...But my first year of college I met some Muslims and I would ask the questions and they would always answer with versus from the Quran that proved my thoughts wrong. I was so moved that people were memorizing the Quran and I had to learn more. I decided to go to my local mosque and when I did I went on a Friday about an hour before Jummah prayer, I was so nervous I was shaking and felt sick to my stomach but I knew if this was right for me I had to try. I approached a few people but they ignored me and kinda pushed me to the side and rushed inside for prayer so before even stepping in the mosque i went back to my car, I called a friend crying but she encouraged me to try again and I did. I waited until everyone left the masjid and there were 3-4 men standing outside so I approached them asking for the imam and one man gave me a Quran and some brochures and invited me to come back that evening for iftar and meet his wife who was also a convert. After I left the mosque and I went to the local Starbucks and and sat there for about 6 hours reading the English Quran he gave me. I literally fell in love with it. I went back to the masjid that night, and met a fellow convert who invited me to her home that evening and over the next two weeks and taught me Islam. May Allah give her Jannah for she has done so much for me. I said my shahada two weeks after that day and it was the best decision I've ever made. I am so blessed to have found Islam, especially at such a young age." - Om Yaseen
