"Stay quiet, Isabelle." The nursemaid warns in a low, reassuring voice. "Everything is fine, I promise."

They both fall silent, listening only to the sound of their own footsteps echoing against the stone flooring. The nurse's eyes dance wildly, looking around at everything.

Curiosity bites at the young girl, and she can't contain herself much longer. She wants to know what was going on- wanting to be let in on the secret. Thinking that it must be something important, something that had to do with the pain.

The plump woman, with her hand clutching the little girl's hand tightly, leads her around corner after corner. Going right and then left, and a left then right. Before long the girl is lost in her own home, the only thing going through her head is hope that her precious caretaker knew her way.

"Nanna," the girl cautions, keeping her voice close to a whisper, and her eyes peeled for anyone to come barreling after them. When it's apparent that the coast is clear, she voices her question. "I want to know what is wrong with me. Why do we have to be so quiet?"

It's as if the nursemaid didn't hear her, because their steps never paused or stopped their rhythmic pace. The little girl knew better than to ask again. Nanna was never harsh with her, but she's learned from multiple tutors that it isn't proper behavior, so she shut her mouth and continued walking blindly.

After what seemed like hours to a seven year old, they come to a door. It's large and wooden, with rusty metal adornments. Nanna lets go of the girl's hand for the first time since the girl started screaming in her sleep, and digs in the pocket of her dress. She produces a brass key, which she sticks into the handle of the door and opens it.

Nanna retakes ahold of the girl and they continue their march outside. The little girl giggles in glee when the wind blows harshly against them, blowing her long blonde locks every which way and fluffing the frills of her pretty dress. It almost distracted her from the aching pain of a cut.

The nurse squints her eyes and purses her lip in the direction of seemingly nothing, like she was irritated by nature and it's blowing breeze.

Anyone who truly knew, knew the real reason of the nursemaid's glare. Would notice that though the wind whips furiously around their bodies, it kept every leaf on the trees perfectly still. Not a blade of grass outside the radius of a few feet from the pair was even rustling.

"Isabelle." The nursemaid begins, taking both of the girl's hands and sitting on her knees to be closer to her height level. "I need you to listen very carefully to every word I say. Alright?"

Isabelle's eyes widen, and she nods in youthful seriousness, her laughs cut off abruptly. "I understand." Her voice rings out high pitched and clearly.

Nanna's eyes are sad when she look at Isabelle, like she could see the girl's entire future play out and know it wouldn't be easy for her. One hand moves up to sweep a strand of hair out of her face. "Before I begin, I want you to know that I'll be here no matter what, and I'll always help you."

Isabelle's hands start to twitch inside of Nanna's, her patience growing thin. She was growing cold from the persistent wind and was uncomfortable from standing in such an intimate position.

"Okay, Princess." The nurse says, standing up again, smoothing away the dirt from her dress. "Let us begin."
