Rachael had just finished taking her bath and was putting on a purple top on jean shorts.
It was seven o'clock and she had to prepare breakfast since it was Saturday and Mrs. Jones was not around during the weekends.

On Fridays before leaving, Mrs. Jones normally prepares soup which was preserved in the refrigerator for their use during the weekend, until when she comes back on Sunday evenings. It was a good thing that Rachael had learnt how to prepare some simple dishes with the help of Mrs. Jones.

Rachael left her room and was headed to the kitchen. She met her dad sitting on a chair by the dining table, sipping his cup of coffee.

"Morning dad!" she greeted as she went closer to him and wrapped her hands around his neck.

"Morning angel," her dad replied, taking her hands in his, after safely keeping his hot cup of coffee on the table.

"How was your night?" he asked her, studying her look carefully.

"It was fine dad. And yours?" Rachael ended the hug.

"It was good," her dad replied, picking up his cup of coffee from the table and drawing a sip from it.

"I'm making breakfast for us," Rachael announced with much excitement.

"What are you making?"

"I'm still thinking, maybe spaghetti and beef meat or fried potatoes with some fried chicken. I'm not really sure yet." Rachael shrugged her shoulders.

"I trust your cooking skills, I'm eating whatever you want," her dad confidently said, making Rachael more eager to prepare something really nice for the both of them.

"Alright dad, let me go get started already."

"Do you have any other plans for today?"  Davidson asked his daughter.

"Yes, Rita is coming over later in the day, we are hanging out together," Rachael replied, her hand caressing the smooth surface of the dining table.

"Are you planning to go out?"

"No dad, we would just hang out here at home. We are actually going to bake a cake," Rachael said.

"That's nice. Is Vincent coming too?"

"No dad, he would be busy helping his mum out in the shop," Rachael explained.

"He is a hard working boy you know, even at such a young age, you should hang out with more of his kind,"  Davidson said, stressing more on the last part of his statement.

"That's true. He is really hardworking, not just with school work but also at home," Rachael acknowledged. "I need to go dad," she said, already walking towards the kitchen.

"Success with your cooking," her dad said to her with a small smile.

"Oh please, say that to a learner, not me," Rachael said with a fling of her hands which made her dad to laugh heartily.

Rachael opened the kitchen cabinet when she got to the kitchen and pulled out two spaghetti packs. She decided to parboil the spaghetti first and then went ahead to prepare the sauce and beef, along with some green peas.
Mixing her spaghetti and sauce together, she left the food to get cooked.

After some couple of minutes, the food was ready to serve. She brought out two flat plates and served some for her dad and herself. Taking the tray of food to the dining table, she dropped it and sat down.

"This looks delicious," her dad said, looking at the plate of food before him, the sweet aroma stimulating his taste buds.

"It is dad, go on a try it," Rachael who has already ate a spoon from her plate said.

"Let me see for myself." Her dad went ahead to take a full spoon from his portion.

"Wow! This is really nice, even better than the ones I've eaten in some these expensive hotels," her dad commented with wide eyes, which made Rachael smile so much.

"Thanks dad," she happily said, taking another spoon of spaghetti.

"I should increase your monthly allowance you know," her dad said, nodding in approval as he ate on.

"Dad, there is no need for that. You and mum keep sending those cash to my account that I really don't even need at the moment," Rachael complained.

"You would need it soon dear," her dad assured.

"Yes, but for now, there is no need for you to increase it," Rachael protested.

"Alright, if that's what you want," her dad agreed and continued with his food.

They ate their food silently and were soon done after some couple of minutes.
After they were done with breakfast, Rachael took the plates to the kitchen and washed them.

She went back to her room when she was done with the dishes and picked up her guitar to play. She played the guitar for about thirty minutes before a knock came from downstairs. She immediately had a feeling that Rita was the one at the door so she rushed downstairs to answer it.

True to her suspicion, she opened the door to see Rita standing outside and typing away on her phone. She was putting on a blue top on black trousers and held a small designer handbag.

"Yeah! You made it!" Rachael screamed as she pulled her friend into a hug.

Rita chuckled. "Didn't I promise?"

"Oh just come in already," Rachael said and walked her Rita into the house.

"Girl, get me a glass of orange juice, I had to walk down here," Rita demanded as she continued with typing on her phone.

"Do I look like the maid here? Go and get your glass of orange juice yourself." Rachael folded her hands around her chest and sat down next to her Rita.

Rita looked at a friend with a feigned look of surprise. "So this is how you treat your visitors right? No problem, I would get my glass of juice myself." She got up to go to the kitchen.

"Please make it two glass of orange juice," Rachael said to Rita with puppy eyes.

"That's not working on me and I'm serious about it," Rita said as she disappeared into the kitchen. True to her words, she came back with just a single glass of orange juice.

"You little witch! You betrayed me," Rachael said with a baby face as she walked into the kitchen to get herself her own glass of orange juice. She came back and sat next to Rita and fixed her eyes on the drama that was showing on the television.

"Adesua Etomi looks so beautiful on this pink floral dress," Rita said, showing her phone to her Rachael.

"She always looks good. I really admire her," Rachael said in admiration as she looked at the picture of the Nollywood actress.

"You follow her on Instagram?" Rita asked.

"Yes I do," Rachael answered, taking her gaze back to the TV screen.

"Let's get started with the baking of our cake," Rita suggested, after they finished their juice. She was already standing up.

"Yeah yeah," Rachael agreed with Rita and stood up.

They both walked into the kitchen to together.
Rachael brought out the flour, egg, sugar, margarine, milk, nutmeg and the other ingredients they needed for the cake.
They mixed the flour and the sugar with an electric mixer and added the egg with the other ingredients and finally mixed everything together.

"It's ready. Where is the pan?" Rita asked when the batter was ready.

"Coming." Rachael went to get the pan from another cabinet.

"I have a good feeling this would come out really nice," Rita said with a wink as she poured the mixture into the baking pan after oiling it with some margarine.

"And what if it comes out bad?" Rachael asked with a raised brow.

"Then it would be your fault," Rita blankly said to Rachael.

"You're not serious." Rachael chuckled.

They put the cake pan into the oven, which was already preheated and allowed the mixture to get baked.

"I'm timing it for thirty minutes," Rita said, setting an alarm on her phone.

"That would be okay," Rachael nodded.

They both left the kitchen to the living room and continued with watching the television and having small debates on which actor acted better or dressed better.

They have been watching an American series for some time when Rita's alarm went on.

"It's time," Rita said before killing the alarm.

"Let's go!" Rachael stood up and Rita trailed behind her. They both went back into the kitchen and Rita brought the cake out of the oven.

"Miss Jane said we can know if the cake is done if we stick a toothpick through it," Rita said, referring to their catering teacher.

"Yeah, take one." Rachael offered Rita a toothpick which she took and immediately inserted into the center of the cake.

"Yeah! It's ready," Rita said with excitement as she brought out a clean toothpick.

"Perfect!" Rachael took a look at the clean toothpick. They later took some slices of the cake and went back with it to the living room.

"Vincent is calling," Rita said, looking at her phone. "I told him I was meeting up with you today."

"Pick it up then," Rachael motioned to Rita's phone.

"It's a video call, he probably wants to see what we are up to," Rita said before picking up the call.

Vincent's face came up on the screen, he was in his mother's shop.

"Hi! What are you two up to?" he said with a bright smile on his face.

"We baked a cake," Rachael and Rita said in unison.

"Wow, sounds interesting. Wish I was there, I'm really good with baking, probably the best in our class too," Vincent said and let out a chuckle when he said the last part, which made Rita to roll her eyes and Rachael to laugh.

"Well, I just wanted to see how my friends are doing," Vincent added, after Rachael's laughter.

"We are fine. How are your parents and your brother Daniel?" Rachael asked.

"They are all fine. Thanks for asking," Vincent replied with a smiled. "I need to go now, see you guys in school," he said and ended the call.

"He is so funny," Rachael said with a smile.

"And sweetly annoying too," Rita added and they both laughed.

"What do you think about this red, dress?" Rita asked Rachael, showing her a dress on her phone.

"It's beautiful and looks so much like a dress my mum got me once," Rachael said as she looked at the familiar dress in Rita's phone.

"Really! I would love to see it," Rita said with wide open eyes.

"It's in the closet where we keep most of the clothes we don't wear often," Rachael replied and stood up.

She decided to take Rita to the closet upstairs. The room was filled with different dresses and accessories. There was a section that contained only shoes; both flats and heels. Another section had all sort of accessories, from earrings to necklaces and bracelets, and another part contained everything concerning makeup.

"Wow! This is beautiful," Rita said as her eyes ran through the whole room.

"This part is where my dresses are." Rachael went over to another corner of the room.

"Where is the dress?" Rita asked, he eyes still admiring the dresses around her.

"Should be around here," Rachael said, her eyes scanning for the dress.

"Got it!" Rachael held out a red dress that looked so much like the one Rita had shown her on her phone.

"This is beautiful, you should put it on," Rita happily said, her eyes admiring the dress so keenly.

"Okay." Rachael started putting on the dress.

"It looks beautiful on you," Rita said, jamming her hands together as she admired the dress on Rachael's body.

"Thanks," Rachael replied, looking at her reflection on the mirror nearby.

"Let me take a picture." Rita brought out her phone to take a picture of Rachael on the dress.

They went on to try other dresses and accessories. Rita kept on taking pictures of the dresses she and Rachael wore.

"You should do something good with those dresses instead of letting them stay locked up in there," Rita said to Rachael as they left the closet.

"Like what?" asked Rachael, her hands landing on her waist.

"You can make YouTube videos wearing them while... playing your guitar," Rita suggested after a moment of thinking.

"Hmm, doesn't sound like a bad idea," Rachael said as she opened the door to her room and got inside with Rita.

"Yeah, it would be really nice I'm sure." Rita added.

"I would think about that," Rachael said as she sat on her bed.

"Alright," Rita said and sat next to Rachael on the bed.

"Where is your dad?" Rita asked after some minutes of peaceful silence between the two.

"He should be in his study," Rachael answered, slowly kicking her legs back and forth.

"I should say hi to him before leaving." Rita turned to face Rachael.

"You want to leave already?" Rachael asked, her face falling instantly.

"Yes, I'm going to visit my aunt who just gave birth yesterday, along with my mum by five this evening," Rita explained, looking at her wristwatch as she did so.

"Really, that's so nice. Say hi to the new baby for me," Rachael joyfully said.

"I would."

"Let me take you to dad then," Rachael said, standing up from her bed.

They both walked out of the room and towards the study. Rachael opened the door and got in first.

"You can come in," Rachael said to Rita after confirming that her dad was inside.

"You came to visit!" Davidson said with a smile on seeing Rita walk into the study.

"Yes sir. I wanted to say hi before leaving," Rita quietly replied.

"That's nice of you, thank you for keeping my daughter company today," Davidson said and looked towards Rachael before turning back to Rita.

"It was my pleasure sir," Rita said with a smile, bowing her head a little.

"Alright dad, she would be going now," Rachael said, already leading Rita towards the door.

"Send my regards to your family," Davidson said to Rita.

"Alright sir, I will, bye," Rita replied and left the room with Rachael.

"Thanks for making my day, I really had a wonderful time with you today," Rachael said to Rita as they walked to the gate.

"Anytime girl, what are friends for?" Rita replied with a smile.

Rachael went back to her room to sleep after hugging Rita bye.
