My stomach twisted into every knot possible, I was surprised I hadn't been discovered, as I slid into the crawl space after Nathen. I had a feeling he knew I was following him, however I didn't let that thought take over my mind, I was all in, and there was no backing down now.

He turned a corner I had never been down before, the light disappearing as fast as he did. My mind drifted back to the last time I had been in here.

I had cut a hole through my hand, Nathen patching it up. I wondered how often he came in here.

I heard a trap door open and shut a few feet ahead of me, I had to find it and see where he had gone. My mind screamed no, but my heart dared me to continue.

Drew was not a quitter

I dragged my hands across the floor, feeling for a crack in the flooring. My eyes tore for some sign of light, but nothing came. I drew a breath when my hands at last came upon the door, however my victory was short lived.

"So you've taken up spying now?" My body froze, every inch of my brain in full alert now. He was to quick to fool.

"I thought you went down there," I mumbled, my eyes searching for his face. Through the darkness, I came to terms with his shadow, that loomed a few feet in front of me, his sent engulfing  my nose.

He leaned closer, and I concentrated on the sound of his breathing, attempting to slow my heart rate once again. "I was throwing you off, and it appears that I succeeded." He let out a low laugh, reaching forward and griping my arm. "Come with me, I want to show you something."

I blinked, taken aback by his words, he sure was full of surprises. "We are going to fall, slow down," I hissed, as he yanked open the trap door, whipping out a flashlight and beaming it down the blackened hole. "W what is down there," my voice shook as I lifted my eyes to plead that we change plans and go somewhere else.

"You will see," he stated simply, now give me your hand, he brung himself down into the hole, peering up at me. I shook my head violently, not ready to risk my life just yet.

"There is no way I am going down there," I blurted, jerking my feet out. He studied me for a second, before climbing another step down.

"Suit yourself then," he shot me an annoyed expression before turning away and continuing down the latter.

I listened to the sound of his faint steps, the light dimming inch by inch. I let a breath out, chewing the inside of my cheek. "Wait, I'm coming too," I called down the hole, my stomach leaping with anticipation. I think being with him was making me go insane. My mother could come out looking for me at any second and I'd be gone.

"I thought you'd change your mind," I could hear the grin in his voice, as he started back up the latter, bringing my feet down step by step. With every l descend I grew closer and closer to his presence, my skin burning with the feeling of his tough. The hole was wide enough that one could lean against one wall while their feet remain on the latter. "Just a few more steps," he mumbled, his breath fanning my ear. I let out a jagged breath, trying to let my mind not focus on the way his hands molded against my wrist as I took the last step, my eyes shot open at the scene around us.

"W, what is this?" I murmered more to myself then to him. he said nothing, clicking the flashlight off and gazing at me. i turned to face him completely, not holding anything back as I tore my gaze over his perfectly sculpted features. "how did you find this place," I forced another question, even though my other one had gone unanswered.

"keep it down, there is heavy survalence in here" he hissed back, grabbing mu hand and pulling me away, just as a quard rushed by. i had been so preocupied, I hadnt noticed our posation now. i stood, my back pressed up against Nathen, his hand still gripped my arm, his breaths rushed.

"why are we down here then, are you trying to get caught, I do not think I need another check on my reckord, unlike you," I was cut off as he clapped a hand over my mouth, someones footsteps stopping right in front of where we were hiding. I hoped the person could not hear my heartrate, it boomed through my ears.

Nathen slid his hand off my mouth when he was sure the person had vanished, I let out a breath, pulling myself up, as I once again took in the scene.

I couldn't believe that he had taken me here, I had only heard about this place, but the question that lingered in my mind was how did he know about it?

Men sat in front of boiling pots, mixing in random things, others were digging, and working with machines I had never seen before.

"They make things for the council, right now they are working on a new Device," he muttered. I blinked, what was he talking about, I had never known the government to make secret things.

"What kind of Device?" I questioned, attempting to make sense of all of this. He took us down a narrow hallway, lined with lights. I jerked my neck back, not wanting to miss a single detail. I knew I could never find my way back down here.

"You wouldn't understand," he stated, "and never talk about this to anyone. If you do, there will be a huge price to pay," I nodded, I couldn't even imagine.

"Are you going to tell me who you are now?" I questioned, as Nathen cracked open a door. We were blinded by the morning light. He turned to face me, his gray eyes piercing.

"Keep to yourself and you won't be harmed." What was that even supposed to mean, I followed him further, not really sure where else to go. He didn't even glance back at me as we retreated deeper into an alley I had never seen before. "You can go now," he jabbed that statement at me, not even turning to acknowledge me. I folded my arms.

"I'll find out who you are one of these days." He rounded on me after that statement had been tossed into the air. His eyes darker and more feirce then they had ever been before. I took a step back, slamming hard into the wall.

"That is none of your business, stay away from things that do not concern you." He spared me one last Glare before he took off down the road, leaving my head to crumble in before me.

What had I done?
