Chap 16 p 2
Those words bounced around in the air, my mind must be playing tricks on me.
I laid back down, maybe I needed to sleep a bit more just so I wasn't going insane.
"Are you okay, it's me, Nathen." Blinking, I flung myself up, growning in pain when my head pounded, everything spinning around me, well in the deep darkness.
I hadn't even noticed that Nathen had taken to his feet, rushing over to me within seconds. My eyes adjusted to the darkness, and now I could make out his shadow, that placed itself right in front of me.
I pressed my hands to my face, trying to massage the headache away. Nathen stared at me for a second before he growled something under his breath that wasn't audible, or maybe my brain wasn't working correctly.
He leaned forward, his face inches from mine. My breath hitched, never in my life had I been so close to him. I could feel his steady bouring as he lifted his fingers, his eyes booting into mine.
He pressed his fingers to the top of my head, my heart skipping about a million beats, I hoped he couldn't hear it. "Does that help?" He questioned, his voice barely above a whisper.
I lifted my head once again, my fingers finding his, a shock went through my whole body at the contact, perhaps it was because my hands were on fire at that moment. "Right here," I directed," placing his hands where my head throbbed so intensely, he didn't let go of my fingers that remained between his as he again moved his fingers in soft circles against my temples, and on the top of my forehead.
I let my head drop, as the headache simmered down to a dull throb, a lazy smile coming over my face. "That really does help," I admitted, letting my hands fall once again to my sides, Nathen didn't however pull his hands down, cocking his head to the side to look into my face.
"Do you remember this place," Blinking, I stared at him, what was he talking about. His eyes were so intense, I couldn't pull mine away, as I dared to stare into those Slate gray eyes as long as I desired.
Nathen said nothing, bringing his face impossibly closer, and at that moment, my heart lept for joy,was he going to kiss me? Did I want him to? I let my eyes flutter shut, as I waited for him to close the gap.
However it never came, Nathen begrudgingly removed his hands from my face, and I instantly missed the feelings, sighing in defeat I should not want him to be close to me, I had Conrad. I was lying to myself, because I wanted Nathen so much more, so incredibly much more.
"I don't know what you are talking about," I mumbled a minute later, after a great deal of silence. Nathen turned away, muttering something under his breath.
"Never mind, I, well, um, I just didn't know you knew about this place." I stared at him for a long time, studying his features, from his soft eyes, down to his sharp jawline. He was the perfect combination of muscle, but I couldn't see much with the lack of lighting down here.
"What is this place?" I questioned, pushing up to my feet. Nathen was quick to help me so I wouldn't fall, and once again, my words were lost in the air at the closeness we were at.
I could feel Nathen breathing behind me, as his hands gripped my arms, steadying me. Breath drew breath,
"Sit down I want to show you something," Nathen whispered his chin resting against my shoulder.
I plopped myself back onto the ground, watching with eager eyes as Nathen walked into the distance, grabbing a jar, it was filled with little glowing things.
"What are those," I questioned, darting my eyes around as he let them loose, the darkness now dotted with twinkling lights that swirled around us, it was like my own little wonderland.
Nathen slid down next to me, bumping my shoulder as he did. I didn't move a muscle, so intrigued by the floating lights. Nathen laughed, leaning back. "Those Drew Stetson are fireflys."
I laid back as well, as the Foreign bugs danced around in the air, I had never seen anything like it in my life.
"How do you know so much, how did you find this place," I pressed, turning my head to catch him already looking at me.
Nathen reached over, tangling his warm fingers with my icy ones, the little sun in my heart coming to life.
"No questions Drew, just enjoy it."
