Protecting Livy Part 1 (500 reads celebration!!!)

~•~
Jake Braverman watched his younger sister from the Play room, Olivia was playing on the swings in the backyard with one of Matter's friends. Jake recognized the boy to be Joshua, A boy who lived just down the road from the Braverman household.

Jake hadn't liked the boy when Matter had introduced the two this morning, Jake thought there was something off about the boy. And as Jake watched his 8 year old sister play with the boy he realized why he hadn't liked Joshua. Joshua would say something to his younger sister that would make her look to her lap as she swung, a frown forming on her always happy face.

Jake did not like how the boy was treating his sister. However Jake knew not what to do as he watched the boy shove Olivia harshly, making her fall off the swing and land on the ground with a loud thud that even he could hear from his position at the window.

Jake watched on as Joshua laughed at a now crying Livy. A sight that made Jake angry.

Matter Braverman had been in the kitchen with his mother preparing drinks for his sister and new friend when he heard Olivia cry out. Without hesitating Young Matter ran out the kitchen door that lead to the backyard to see if his sister were okay.

Unlike His older brother, Matter hadn't seen his new friend shove his sister off the swings, so when Olivia told him that she had simply fallen from the swings Matter had been inclined to believe her.

Olivia was taken inside by Marcia and patched up however Olivia had refused to play outside once more with her brother, something that Marcia and Matter had found odd.

As the sun came down and the moon raised, Jake couldn't help but think back on the incident earlier.

Jake felt as he should have done something to prevent the incident, however Jake knew that he would have made matters worse after all HE was an easy target for bullying.

Jake found himself wondering the halls of his house, it was close to his and his siblings bedtime however Jake couldn't bring himself to go to bed. Instead Jake wondered through his house until he found himself in front of Olivia's bedroom door.

Jake Braverman was about to knock on the door but hesitated, what could he say to Olivia that would make her feel better? He was not good with comforting, not good with words.

Jake thought back to his crying sister, and threw caution to the wind. Something that surprised Jake himself.

Olivia was quick with her response, however it was muffled by her door. Jake walked in to her room to see the girl sitting in the corner of her bed still crying, which was something Jake rarely saw his sister do.

"You okay?"Jake asked softly, not knowing how to handle a crying Livy but not wanting to leave either.

Olivia smiled at him, wiping her tears away as she did. "Yeah" She whispered in response, her voice scratchy.

"No you're not!"Jake said coming to sit next to Olivia. He patted her head, an awkward gesture of comfort but one that made Livy smile a real smile up at her big brother.

"Now tell me what happened?"Jake asked gently, not wanting to upset his sister more than she was. Jake saw the scratches on Liv's arms and frowned.

"I fell" she replied, a half truth on Olivia's part.

Jake took hold of Olivia's hand, mindful of the scratches and bruises she had gotten and sighed "I saw what Joshua did, so why did you lie when Matter asked what happened?"

"Why are you lying now?"He asked.

Olivia Braverman looked at her older brother, her heart tugging at his hurt filled question.

"Mattie doesn't have a lot of friends because he spend his time with me" Livy explained "I didn't wanna cause problems"

It was such a Livy answer, Jake thought as he let go of Olivia's hands and hugged her, Olivia crying in her brothers arms.

When Olivia was finished crying, Jake tucked her into bed, placing a kiss on her forehead as their mother did for them every night and left to go seek out his brothers.

Jake unsurprisingly found Ian and Jason both in the gaming room playing video games. Ian and Jason were always together, similar to Matter and Olivia.

Ian was the first to notice Jake enter the game room, a scowl on his face that had Ian pausing the game he and Jason were playing.

"Hey!"Jason protested "I was winning that!"

Ian rolled his eyes at his younger brother, knowing that he had been kicking Jason's ass in COD for eight consecutive matches in a row.

"What's up?" Ian asked Jake, making Jason look toward the frustrated boy as well.

"It's about Joshua -".

"His cool" Jason interrupted Jake, only making the boy more furious.

"Yeah! He was so cool when he shoved our sister off the swings!"Jake replied sarcastically, his tone bitter.

Ian and Jason looked at each other in surprise, neither of them having ever heard Jake be sarcastic and the fact that he was meant the boy was very much serious.

"What do you mean?"Ian asked his brother to explain, having heard from their mother that Olivia had fallen.

Jake explained to his brothers all that he had seen, which had infuriated both boys. Ian and Jason were both known to be protective of their siblings, more so for Olivia who seemed to get hurt by people more often than not.

With their game long forgotten Jason, Ian followed Jake to Matt's bedroom wanting nothing more than to make the boy who hurt their sister regret the day he had been born.

Upon their arrival, Jake had easily gotten the attention of the youngest Braverman boy who had been playing a game with Joshua. Ian beckoned his brother over.

Matter closed his bedroom door behind him, assuming that his brothers wanted to talk in private having seen all three of their scowling faces.

"Whatever happened..." Matt began, smiling nervously at his brothers "I didn't do it!" Matt finished, thinking his brothers had found the hair dye he had poured in each of their shampoo bottles, with the aid of Little Livy.

"We wanted to talk to you about what happened this morning" Ian started.

"He means Olivia's accident" Jason added, interrupting Ian who was about to elaborate.

"And Joshua's involvement in it" Jake finished for his brothers, causing Ian to huff as he was interrupted once again.

Matter stood in front of his brothers utterly confused.

"Livy fell" Matter informed his brothers with a frown, he had though that their mother would have informed the boys.

Jake Braverman shook his head at his younger brother, telling him what he had witnessed Joshua do to their sister and Matter knew it to be the truth because he knew if there was one thing his brother despised it was a liar.

"Why didn't Livy tell me?"Mater asked, hurt that his best friend, his sister had lied to him.

"She doesn't want to be the reason you don't make friends"

Matter didn't like that Olivia had lied to him to protect his feelings, having promised he would always protect her. He had failed, and he was pissed.

"What are we gonna do about Josh?"Matter asked, a scowl matching that of his brothers taking over his features.

Jake grinned uncharacteristically "We're going to teach him a valuable lesson"

"You mess with one Braverman" Jason continued a grin taking over his features as well.

"You mess with all the Braverman's" Ian finished a smirk playing at his lips.

End of part 1

And Its Here!
So I know its a part, which maybe frustrating because I will only release the next part at 1 K reads (if we can get there).

And its a bit of a cliffhanger.

But the scene was getting too long for a short bonus chapter, at 1300 words its a normal chapter in comparison to the average word count for a wattpad book.

I'm rambling!

I hope you guys enjoyed!

Fun Fact I was originally going to do the whole scene but like I said the scene was becoming too long.

Another Fun Fact this is my first cliffhanger in Finding Olivia!

Until Next Time,
Byeee!
