Prologue

Fairy lights twinkle through the dark room, reflecting off the pink rose wallpaper and the faces of two hopeful children peering over a book. It was the same every night, the two Diggory siblings peering over their copy of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, straining to see in the dark.

"To die will be an awfully big adventure." The eldest Diggory child, Cedric read. Cedric was the best at reading storybooks. Well, at least Thea in all of her six years thought so.

Thea squealed with delight, she always enjoyed that line. Of course at her age, she had no clue what death truly meant. But the fact that there was another adventure to go on always excited her.

She clutched her toy fairy to her chest. Did she believe in fairies? Yes! She certainly did.  Cedric continued to read, adding emphasis to his voice when necessary. He truly was the golden child. Anne and Amos, the children's parents absolutely adored their two children and spoiled them rotten. However, Cedric always had a special place in their hearts, he was good at everything. Already a talented Quidditch player, fantastic reader and kind, caring nature, Cedric had a bright future ahead of him.

However, Thea was different. Anne always said to all her friends, Thea was quite the handful. Not only was she extremely curious always exploring but she was quite the feisty child. She knew what she wanted and how she was going to get it. Even after one of her temper tantrums, Thea always managed to maintain her sweetness. She was quite the favourite with older ladies.

Downstairs Anne looked up from the latest copy of Witch Weekly, at the sound of the squeal from Thea's room.

She walked up the stairs slowly, listening to the sound of her two happy children. They were happy and that was all Anne could ever ask for.

She knocked quietly on the door, feeling bad for interrupting their nightly storytelling.

"Cedric? Thea? It's time for bed." She was instantly meet with two pouting faces.

"Do we have to, mum? Thea asked.

"Yeah! We were just getting up to the good part." Cedric followed up.

Anne looked at the two pouting faces. Usually, Amos would be the one to interrupt the story-telling. However, her husband was at the Ministry, working late. Without him to back her up she was going have to try not to look at the sad faces that were always the way to her heart.

"No dears. You two are both tired and so am I. We both need sleep. I'm sure you can finish the book tomorrow."

"Alright, mum!" Surprised at their sudden willingness, she quickly gestured them towards their rooms. She had missed the look the two had shared. A look full of mischief.

Thea reached up to turn the fairy lights off and climbed into bed. Anne leant over and kissed her on the forehead. Following Cedric out of the room into his bedroom next door, kissing him on the forehead as well, she left the room, ready for a nice long shower and a long sleep.

At the sound of the shower turning on. The fairy lights were back on, Cedric was back in Thea's room and the two of them reading Peter Pan again.
