Chapter Twenty-Two
Alexander and Max had joined Thea in her little study session in the library. The term had started up again and the work rate seemed to have gone up. Thea's stress levels were really not coping too well. Between exams already looming and the fact that Cedric still hadn't worked out the second task were just a few of the things that were haunting her.
Max and Alexander exchanged looks as Thea sighed and lay down right on top of her textbook.
"Um...Thea?" Max asked poking Thea slightly on the top of the head. "Are you absorbing the words?"
"No."
"That's good because you know the best way to do that is to write it down then eat the sheet of paper," Alexander said obviously proud of his idea.
Max rolled her eyes. "Don't mind him, he's an idiot,"
"I may be an idiot but I'm right when I say that Thea needs a break!"
"That's true. You do, Thea."
"I suppose so," Thea replied lifting her head slightly off the table.
"Well..." Alexander began. "We haven't done a Hogsmeade trip with just the three of us for a long time."
"That's true," Thea said. "I remember we used to do them all the time in the third year when we were first able to go."
"Do you remember when Alexander slipped over in the snow, landed on that rock and broke his tailbone, Thea?" Max chuckled. "He had to spend the night in the infirmary and had that little cushion he had to sit on for two weeks after."
"Oh my god. That was the best." Thea said now revitalized.
"You two are never going to let me leave that down, are you?"
"Nope." Thea and Max replied in unison.
"Well, fine then," Alexander said. "Max do you remember when you used all your pocket money at Honeydukes and ate all that candy the same night, you crashed so hard."
"You did." Thea agreed, chuckling.
"Excuse me, Thea. You are supposed to be on my side!" Max asked incredulously. "Fine then, be that way. Thea, do you remember how you tripped and accidentally threw your butterbeer all over Heidi?"
"Yeah, I do," Thea said. "I don't think she has forgiven me yet for that."
"It was two years ago!" Alexander said.
"Exactly," Thea replied.
"How did we get on this topic?" Max asked.
"We were planning a trip to Hogsmeade tomorrow," Thea said.
"But nothing was finalized," Alexander said.
"Well, would you like to go to Hogsmeade tomorrow?" Max asked.
"Sure!' said Alexander and Thea in unison.
Thea clutched her coat tightly around her, it was freezing, her Hufflepuff scarf was tightly bound around her neck, her long brunette hair draping off it. She was trying to muster as much warmth as possible. Thea was just trying to hold on until they got to the three broomsticks, so she could have a warm drink. Max and Alexander were a few steps ahead of her, holding hands. Since those two had started dating, it was hard for Thea not to feel like a third wheel all the time. Max seemed to also read Thea's thoughts because she let go of Alexander's hand and bounded over to her, how she had that much energy in the cold to do that, Thea had no clue.
"Come on, Thea!"
"I'm c-coming," Thea replied her teeth chattering. "S-slowly."
"Pretty much," Alexander replied picking Thea up and carrying her. "Come on, then."
"Alexander! Put me down!"
"Let me think," Alexander said nearly dropping Thea jokingly before catching her at the last second.
"Woah!" Thea screeched, hitting Alexander in the chest. "Don't do that again!"
"You mean like this?"
"Alexander!"
Thea had safely reached the three broomsticks despite being actually dropped by Alexander once. She was huddled over her mug of butterbeer glaring at anyone who came too close.
"It's scary to think." Max began.
"What is?" Thea replied.
"The fact that this time next year we will be getting ready to graduate. Nearly seven years at Hogwarts, seven years with you two, and soon we will be expected to go out into the world alone."
"That's true," Alexander replied.
"Well, I've had the best last few years with you guys. I wouldn't change it for the world." Thea said smiling at her two best friends.
"Same." Max and Alexander both said in unison.
"Cheers!" Thea shouted holding her mug up in the air.
"Cheers!" The three of them said together, clinking their glasses together.
"Ok. Where to now?" Thea asked once they had their coats back on and where back outside.
"What about Honeydukes?" Max asked.
"Sure. But Max try not to buy all the stock this time, okay?" Alexander replied, Max, rolled her eyes and kissed him on the cheek.
Alexander had joked about Max buying the whole store, but he actually ended up with the greatest number of bags full of candy as they left the store. It was almost impossible to not leave Honeydukes without something.
"So, Alexander what was that about buying the whole store?" Thea asked cheekily.
"You better watch yourself, Thea. I have your parents' address, so I could write them a letter, or I could just tell your brother all about your rude behavior."
"You wouldn't dare."
"Watch me, Theodora Diggory."
