Chapter Forty-One
Thea thought about it for a few moments before getting up and letting Sirius in the door before she returned to her previous position.
"Are you okay, Thea?" Sirius said reiterating his previous question.
"I'm fine." Thea replied wiping at her eyes.
"Well, I don't know what your definition of okay is, but according to mine you are far from okay."
"Fine, then. I'm not okay." Thea said rolling her eyes slightly.
"How can I help?"
"You can't, unless you can magically bring back brothers and parents."
It was quiet for a few moments before Sirius answered. "I'm very sorry, Thea but you know I can't do that, nor can anyone."
"I know. It's just me being selfish for still asking."
"But that can't be all of it, what else is it? What just happened that made you cry?"
"Ron asked me why I was here, and I told him. However, then I had everyone offering their condolences and suddenly it was just like Hogwarts. I panicked and as you know I ran."
"Oh, Thea." Sirius said trying to hide his amusement.
"What! What is it?" Thea asked annoyed.
"It's just amusing."
"What is?!"
"How do I do this?" Sirius muttered to himself. "Those people downstairs are some of the best people you will ever meet. They are just looking out for you, they are worried about you and want to make sure you are alright. It's the same at Hogwarts. Although it doesn't feel like it right now, one day you will see how big of a support group you actually have. Does that help at all?"
Thea smiled slightly. "Yeah. Yeah, it does."
"I'm glad then Thea. You deserve happiness. Go out there try and enjoy your last year at Hogwarts while you can. It all goes by so fast, go make mischief while you can. I'm sure your brother would want you to have fun."
Thea looked at Sirius and smiled at him before quickly pulling him into a hug. "Thank you. Thank you so much."
"No problem, Thea." Sirius replied smiling as well.
Another knock at the door interrupted the two. George Weasley stood at the door looking a little awkward and out of place as he watched Sirius and Thea.
"Um....hi. I was just wondering if Thea was alright?"
"She's alright, George." Sirius replied when his name was called downstairs.
"Sirius! Would you like to join our game of exploding snap?" Ron shouted from downstairs.
"I'm coming now!" Sirius shouted back. "I better get going then."
Sirius left the room leaving George and Thea alone.
"I just wanted to see if you were alright. I was concerned about you, you left in such a hurry." George said smiling warmly at Thea.
Thea was startled by the sudden kindness and compassion and had started to smile back when her suspicion took over.
"Where's Fred?"
"Downstairs. Playing exploding snap." George replied without missing a beat. As if to proof this statement Fred's loud voice could clearly be heard downstairs.
Thea was still quite wary of George standing there looking quite concerned. However, the manners that her mother had instilled in her from the moment she was born took over.
"Um...would you perhaps like to sit down?" Thea asked, moving over to make room beside her.
"Yeah." George replied sitting beside Thea. The two of them sat in silence for a little while just looking at each other, before George broke the awkward silence.
"How can I help, Thea?"
"What?" Thea asked confused.
"How can I help? How can I make this better for you? How can I make you go through every day with a smile instead of a frown? It drives me insane that I can't make you smile or laugh."
"What?" Thea asked again with a nervous chuckle.
"I saw you the other day, laughing at Fred and I in the snow. I know it's in there somewhere, how can I make you laugh and smile?"
"I don't know, really. Sirius said I need to start noticing the support group that I have around me. Maybe you can help me with that?" Thea said, the smile on her face genuine.
"Of course, Thea." George replied with a smile just as genuine.
George and Thea didn't end up going downstairs to also join the game of exploding snap that seemed to grow in volume with every passing minute. The two of them stayed where they were, talking about everything from joke shops and pranks to Snape seemed to get more vicious as each lesson passed to everything in between. Eventually, they had been there for so long that Fred feeling quite lonely with his twin by his side, ventured out to try and find them.
"What do we have here?" Fred asked. Both Thea and George turned to see Fred leaning against the door frame looking quite incredulous.
"I just came to check on Thea, to make sure she was alright." George replied. "You saw what happened earlier."
"That was hours ago. Surely it doesn't take three hours to check on one person."
"Well, we've just been talking since." It was Thea's turn to speak up. "Why? Jealous, are we Freddie?"
"No." Fred scoffed.
"Sure." George said.
"I'm just concerned that you are fraternising with the enemy."
"Well, she's not the enemy, Fred. She's just a person, just like everyone else, who needs a little extra support right now."
Thea rolled her eyes. "Oh, yes. I'm a fragile person who needs help all the time." Thea laughed her humorous personality slowly returning.
"HA!" George shouted. "See! You can laugh!" This set all three of them into stitches.
When Sirius walked past, he just shook his head at the three teenagers on the floor like a pack of hyenas laughing their heads off.
"Children." He said shaking his head. "I live with children."
