Chapter Eighty-One
By the time Thea arrived at the Burrow, she was fully expecting for the mission to retrieve Harry to be long over and the Order celebrating another successful mission. But the second she entered and saw everyone's solemn expressions she immediately knew something was up.
"What's going on?" Thea had asked the nearest person who just so happened to be Ginny.
"Only Hagrid and Harry are back. The others were supposed to be back ages ago."
Thea's stomach dropped and the urge to bite at her nails suddenly came at her with all its force. Members of her second family were out there and she couldn't do anything to protect them, it was the worst feeling in the world. However, Thea's current priorities remained with Harry and making sure that he was okay.
"Where are they?"
"I think Harry is in the kitchen," Ginny replied.
Thea quickly headed in the kitchen to see Harry sitting at the table looking quite distraught and pale.
"Hi Harry," Thea said quietly noticing as the boy's eyes slowly looked up to notice Thea standing there.
"Hi Thea," Harry said with no energy left in his voice.
"What's wrong, Harry?" Thea quickly asked, looking concerned at the boy's lack of enthusiasm.
"They got Hedwig," Harry informed her, looking back down to the table miserable.
"I'm so sorry, Harry. She really was a lovely owl. She had a great temperament." Thea said sitting beside him in comforting silence.
Eventually, it became clear that Harry needed some time alone to grieve over the loss of his beloved pet owl so ventured back into the living room to see who else was there.
"Elliot! When did you get here? I'm sure I didn't see you when I came in." Thea exclaimed jumping slightly at the sight of her best friend sitting on the couch beside Ginny as the two of them quietly discussed Quidditch teams.
"Only a few minutes ago actually," Elliot replied patting the spot beside him, signifying for Thea to come to sit beside him. "How did the whole thing with your parents go?"
"How did you know?" Thea asked.
"I have my ways and besides your face is like a map it shows all your emotions and as one of your best friends I have gotten rather good at being able to tell."
Thea let out a breathy chuckle before responding to Elliot's initial question. "Well, it wasn't much different. They are still the exact same, refusing to look at me, pretty much giving me one worded answers, I know why but it still hurt."
"I can only imagine. Please tell me you didn't blow up at Matilda again though. I know you were angry about the lack of letter but Thea-" Elliot began but was interrupted.
"I may be guilty of that," Thea muttered, praying that Elliot wouldn't hear her.
"Thea!" Elliot groaned but stopped as a loud crack echoed around the Burrow.
Everyone in the Burrow quickly stood up to see who had arrived. It was Remus who had been escorting George but it didn't come with good news.
Thea's stomach dropped as her heart gave a sharp pain as she noticed one of the sides of George's face was all bloody. She wanted to head over there, see if he was alright, her heart beating loudly in her ears. Thea could feel her feet wanting to take her forward but Elliot held her back.
"Come on, Thea." Elliot said trying to pull Thea out of the room.
"Elliot, I want to stay."
"Thea, no. It's not good for you. Just let Molly heal him. Come with me." Elliot pulled Thea out of the living room as Molly gently helped George to lay down as she began to heal him.
Thea sat on the steps of the Burrow with Elliot waiting impatiently for someone else to arrive, trying to fight with everything she had in her to go back inside. Eventually, she had given up and had exhaustingly slumped against Elliot in defeat. Hermione and Kingsley arrived next both of them unharmed, fortunately. Thea had greeted both of them with a smile but she was forced to look away once Fred and Arthur arrived next.
Elliot quickly informed the two about what had happened as the two of them rushed in to find George laying on the couch. Fred immendiantely dropped down to his twin brother's side as Thea entered back into the living room with Elliot not too far behind.
"How do you feel, Georgie?" Molly asked her son while pushing his hair back gently.
"Saintlike." George answered without skipping a beat.
Several people in the room raised an eyebrow looking at George concerned, while Fred quickly fretted over his brother fearing he had gone insane.
"What's wrong with him?" Fred asked quickly, his voice cracking with the emotion he was trying to suppress. "Is his mind affected?"
"Saintlike," George repeated, looking over to his twin. "You see...I'm HOLEY, Fred, geddit?"
Most people struggled to hold back snickers while Thea buried her face in Elliot's shoulder trying to hold back her smile as Fred looked at George incredulously.
"Pathetic! Pathetic!" Fred exclaimed loudly. "With the whole wide world of ear-related humor before you and you go for holey?"
George just grinned in response before the two twins broke into simialtenous laughter.
Ron and Tonks eventually made their way back to the Burrow as well, explaining that they had been intercepted and forced to stop the Weasley's Aunt Muriel's house. Thea was extremely glad to see her honorary sister but not as glad as Remus seemed to be as he clearly had no intention of letting go as he held Tonks closely to his chest.
However, Bill and Fleur as well as Moody and Mundugas Fletcher hadn't returned yet leading many of the Order members to panic slightly but the only thing they could do was wait.
