KATELYN

Adjusting my sports bra I jogged down the stairs and at where Kawaii~Chan was. She was sitting at the table with her damp hair in a Japanese bun and dressed in shorts and a no-shoulder top. I didn't question why she wasn't talking to me like usual and cooking some kind of fancy breakfast.

I went to the counter to make my smoothie then chimed in.

"Hey Kawaii~Chan. You feeling alright?"

"Hm? Oh yea..."

She wasn't calling me Katelyn~Sama or another name. I raised an eyebrow then plopped half a banana into the blender, then turned it on; a whirring sound filled my ears.

Grabbing a plastic bottle emptying the water out, I looked at Kawaii~Chan. She looked a bit dark under the eyes and she was focused on her coffee. 

"Are you brushing off of Zane?" I asked trying to lighten the mood. 

"That didn't help Katelyn." she moaned in response, then propped her elbow on the table resting her head on her hand.

"Oh. Is something wrong? Did something happen? Did Zane dump you? I swear if that fat nugget did ANYTH-"

"No! Nothing happened! Everything is fine! I just didn't get some sleep." she hesitatingly replied.

"Okay then. Well I'm going for a jog with Travis. Feel free to call me if you want to talk to us."

"Alright. Thanks."

She didn't get excited that I was going out with Travis and start shipping us. Odd.

Grabbing the jar from the blender I poured my breakfast smoothie into the bottle, laced my sneakers, then grabbed the keys and went out the front door locking it behind me.

"So what's on your mind baby?"

"Nothing much. Kawaii~Chan has been acting a bit deflated and she won't tell me why."

"Oh. Did anything happen recently?"

"Not that I know of, but maybe the others know. I'm just concerned her treatment has gotten to her."

"Treatment? For wha- wait. Never mind you told me this."

I slowed down to look at his frown. 

"Listen I know you never meant for that to happen. You were under the control of some demon. You know you never wanted to hurt her or Aphmau, or anyone at all. Everyone forgives you."

"Thanks, but I think we should talk to the others. We only got back just about two months ago and that fact that it's getting at Kawaii~Chan now concerns me."

"Let's go talk to Aph and Aaron then."

"Sounds good."

"So you're saying Kawaii~Chan's been out of it?" Aphmau asked while pouring coffee.

"Yea. She has." I replied.

Aphmau, Aaron, Garroth, Travis and I were sitting around the table in their house enjoying a salad and coffee provided by Aaron and Aph. 

"She asked me a question the other day about what it was like to open up about being the Ultima. She didn't seem to find comfort in my answer though."

"She asked you that? Why say that now?" Garroth looked at him.

"Well I've heard she's been getting a lot of hate emails on her business. I know she only wants to help us but this is getting excessive. She's only riding her bike around the neighbourhood delivering sweets." I chimed in.

"Maybe her hate mail is getting at her." Aph said with concern.

"Hey guys. There you are Garroth. Did I miss the memo of a D'n'D game?"

Zane stood at the door overhearing that part.

"No not really. It's about Kawaii~Chan."

"Na- Kawaii~Chan? What about her?"

"She's been kind of sad lately. I don't know if you've noticed it..."

"Of course I have! I'm her boyfriend!"

"In that case, do you know what's going on?" I asked.

Zane looked at he ground for a minute after hearing this.

"I do know a certain part of it, but I've been told not to tell you for her sake."

"Well this doesn't help us at all. You gotta tell us something about it, can you?"

"I can't! I don't want to betray her trust in me!"

"What if something happened and she's hiding it from all of us? What if she's in pain?" I blurted out. The person I lived with could be in danger, and the fact that she didn't tell me made me feel angry at her but also upset she didn't trust me.

"It's like she doesn't trust any of us! If she had a serious issue she would tell us all!" I stood up and slammed my hands on the table, making Garroth jump.

Travis snaked his hand around my waist and pulled me back down.

"Katelyn please. You need to calm down! If something big happened she would tell us."

There was a pause as the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it." Aphmau jumped out her chair and jogged towards the door.

A girl that looked familiar but I couldn't place my finger on it was at the door.

"Wait, Cadenza? Oh my goodness! It's been too long!" I jumped out to give her a hug as well as Aph.

"It's lovely seeing you ladies! I was justing coming to visit Laurence! However I was just going to drop off at his house for dinner, but an inconvenience happened actually."

"Really?"

"Yes loves. There is this girl with cat ears and pink hair I found at the pharmacist. However she was passed out an-"

"PASSED OUT?" Zane was now the one to panic.

"Wait, KAWAII~CHAN? I should've known! My goodness yes! I found her at the side of the road. She had her purse with her and in it was her phone, wallet, a bottle of pills and some kind of ointment."

"There were other people who handled it, but she goes to this place downtown. We need to go now!" Cadenza exclaimed.

"What are you waiting for? Let's go!" I exclaimed.

Just like that Aaron pulled out his car and Travis and I hopped in along with Aph. Zane and Garroth went with Cadenza in her car. 

It was a chase to see what happened.
