Omake 1: First Christmas with the Akatsuki
Itachi's POV
"Papa?" I glanced up from my book to meet the eyes of my 5-year-old daughter. "Yes Yasuko?" Yasuko shuffled in her place in front of me, a blush tinting her pale cheeks. "Can I go out into the village with Deidara-nii?" I blinked at her request, my lips twitching downward.
"Yasuko, you know it's dangerous to be outside." I said. I saw her flinch a bit; knowing the consequences if someone were to find out she was infiltrated with the Akatsuki and my daughter. "I know Papa, but we have been here for nearly a year now, and I have never been inside a village before, even when we lived back in Konoha. I promise to stay with Deidara-nii, and, and I will keep the hood of my cloak up the entire time. Please Papa, can I go?"
I bit my lip at my daughter's pleas. It was rare for Yasuko to ask of anything from me. Despite her desires of certain things, she'd always push the thought to the back of her head. She was always the selfless child. Seeing her asking me to simply go out and see the village, how could I possibly deny her of her single request?
Sighing I nodded, placing my book down. "Alright, you can go out into the village with Deidara. But you are to remain with him the entire time and you cannot take off your hood. You must also where the necklace that Leader-sama had given you when we arrived." Yasuko's eyes brightened at this as she jumped, wrapping her arms around my neck. I fell back into the bed as I wrapped my arms around her little form.
"Thank you Papa! I promise to be good!" With one last squeeze, Yasuko unwrapped her arms and ran to the closet to grab her plain, black cloak. Standing up, I kneeled down and zipped of the cloak for her. Grabbing a necklace off the nearby desk, I placed it around her neck, before lifting her hood.
The necklace was a simple chain with a charm hanging off of it. The charm was a red cloud with white outlines. Leader-sama had given the necklace to Yasuko when we arrived. He explained that the necklace was similar to the Akatsuki rings so he could communicate with Yasuko along with know her location in case she were kidnapped.
"Tell Deidara that you have to be home before dinner. Konan would be furious if she hears you missed dinner again." I muttered. Yasuko nodded and with one last hug, she waved and ran down the hall. Sighing, I sat back on the bed and continued to read my book.
Yasuko's POV
I ran through the halls of the base before catching sight of a familiar blond in front of the entrance. "Deidara-nii!" I grinned and waved. The blond smiled at me and waved as well before opening his arms out. I giggled as I jumped into his arms, quickly wrapping my hands around his neck. "So what did the grouch say, yeah?" I frowned a bit at the name Deidara had called my papa, but brushed it off knowing the dislike he had for him. "Papa said I could go, but we have to be home before dinner or else Konan-oba will be angry."
I felt Deidara shiver and stared at him questionably. He only shook his head and my stare before turning to the entrance. "Then we'll just have to make the best of it, yeah?" I nodded my head. With a few hand signs the barrier on the entrance weakened allowing us to go through. Together, we me in Deidara's arms, we made our way into the village.
Time Skip
It was nearly noon, meaning that Deidara and I were here for nearly two hours. It was fun at first, but the constant rain of Amegakure was beginning to reflect on me. I sighed as I sat in the shade of one of the shops of the village as I waited for Deidara. Apparently Leader-sama had sent a quick message to Deidara to grab some supplies for tomorrow. I was told to stay, while he went to grab the supplies.
It's been 15 minutes since then and I was currently very bored. I stared aimlessly up at the sky before getting up from my seat. Since this was the shopping district, I could just visit a couple of nearby stores. From the irritation on Deidara's face, I'm guessing that the list he was given was quite long. I brought some money that Konan and Papa gave me so I might as well kill time.
'If I remember correctly, tomorrow would be Christmas Eve. Maybe I should buy something for everyone.' I thought.
Will that in mind, I made my way around the shopping district.
Another Time Skip
I made my way back to where Deidara left me, mentally checking off the members whose gifts I got. I nodded, knowing that I had one for each member. I slipped the scroll, which held all of the gifts into one of my cloak's pockets before entering the shop where Deidara left me, which just so happened to be a dango shop. Buying a couple sticks for myself, I ordered a small box full of dango to bring back to the base for Papa.
Thanking the worker, I paid and took my orders with me outside. I sat at the bench under the shade, in front of the shop and waited for Deidara to come back.
I was about to finish my last dango stick when Deidara appeared in front of me with two scrolls in his hands. He sighed tiredly as he slipped them into his pocket. "Sorry for leaving you here, un. Suko-chan, were you good, yeah?" Deidara asked as he held his hand out for me. "It is okay Deidara-nii. I was good." I replied, slipping my small hand into his, giggling at the feel of his hands licking my own. "That's good, yeah. Let's go back, un?" I nodded, a smile gracing my face.
"Thank you for taking me Deidara-nii." I smiled up at him. Deidara blinked in surprise before ruffling my hooded head with his free hand. "No problem, yeah." With that we set off back to the Akatsuki base.
Another Time Skip – The Next Day (Christmas Eve)
"Suko-chan, can you help me decorate the tree?"
"Hai, Konan-oba!"
Closing my sketchbook, I ran towards the blue haired woman and helped her decorate the tree. It was Christmas Eve, and Leader-sama gave everyone the day off including tomorrow, with some convincing from Konan and my puppy dog eyes, which Konan had taught me to do. Knowing this was my first Christmas with the Akatsuki, Konan decided for everyone to help out in decorating the base.
Right now, all the members were handing up different decorations around the living room and hallways. Papa and Kisame were placing wreathes on all of the members room doors, along with the kitchen door and Leader-sama's office. Sasori and Deidara were hanging up Christmas lights along the top of the walls, but they were having disputes on which colour the lights should be. Kakuzu and Hidan were decorating the living room with hanging décor and such, while Tobi and Zetsu were cleaning up the rest of the base. I was helping Konan with decorating the Christmas tree, while Leader-sama was busy finishing some paperwork before he joins us.
"Now, we're almost done. All we need is the star." Konan smiled at me. I nodded and ran to the box where all the decorations were placed. Reaching into it, I quickly grabbed the star and made my way to the tree. I pouted seeing as I was too short to reach the top. I gasped a bit when I felt hands wrap around my waist and lift me up onto someone's shoulder. I quickly took hold of the familiar, spiky blue hair in a gentle grip, careful not to hurt to person.
"Ki-kisame-oji?" I questioned.
The said shinobi sent me an amused smirk as he kept a grip on me as I sat on his right shoulder. "Need a lift, kid?" I giggled, nodding slightly. Being the tallest member in the Akatsuki, it wasn't hard for me to reach the top of the Christmas tree with Kisame's help. Carefully placing the star, I leaned back and admired the tree with Konan beside Kisame and I.
"It looks beautiful, Suko-chan." I smiled and nodded. Kisame carefully placed me on the ground and ruffled my hair before continuing on with his work with Papa. Taking my hand, Konan led me to the kitchen where we'd start up on dinner.
"Would you like to help me prepare the feast?" With a nod the two of us began to work on the dinner for all the members.
Once we placed the last dish on the table, Konan sighed in satisfaction as she slumped down in her seat at the table. I grinned tiredly at her. "Konan-oba, would you like me to get the others for you?" Seeing the nod, I slipped out of my seat and made my way to the living room where I knew the rest of the members would be.
"Papa, onii-sans, oji-sans, Konan-oba and I are finished with dinner." I called as I entered the living room. Everyone nodded and got up from their seats on the living room couches and patted my head on the way to the dining room. Seeing as a member was missing, I made my down the hall before stopping in front of a pair of mahogany doors. Knocking on the doors, I waited before hearing a muffled 'come in.'
I opened the door softly and peaked my head in. "Pein-oji, Konan-oba and I finished with dinner. She told me to call everyone to come and eat now." The orange haired man nodded and stood from his seat behind the desk. He made his way towards me and opened the door showing the small form to him. He stretched out his hand for me, and showed me one of his rare smiles. "Shall we?" I nodded, smiling. "Un!" Taking his hand, we made our way into the dining room where everyone was already seated.
Leader-sama took his seat at the head of the table with Konan-oba on his right. I took my seat in front of Konan, which was left of Leader-sama and beside Papa. Beside Papa was Sasori, and beside Sasori was Kakuzu. Zetsu took his seat beside Kakuzu. Everyone sat across his partners besides Tobi, Zetsu, Konan and Pein. Tobi took his seat in front of Zetsu. The seat opposite of Leader-sama remained empty.
Konan smiled at me. "Well since everyone is here now, we can eat." With that, everyone clapped his or her hands together. "Itadakimasu." And the feast began.
When everyone was done, Konan, Sasori, Papa, and I cleaned the plates while everyone put everything away and cleaned the table. After that, we all made our way to the living room to read, watch movies, and play games. By the time it was 10, my eyes were beginning to get drowsy, and I was on the verge of passing out, which didn't go unnoticed.
"It's getting late. We should all go retire for the night. We'll open the presents once everyone's awake."
The order was made and we all left to our rooms. Once I was changed and cleaned, I climbed into bed and fell into the comforting darkness.
Last Time Skip – The Next Morning
I carefully slipped out of bed, making sure to not disturb Papa. Grabbing my scroll from my cloak, I made my way into the living room and summoned the gifts I had bought yesterday. Checking to see that everyone's gifts were here and correctly labeled, I placed them all under the Christmas tree with the other gifts and entered the kitchen. Taking out different mugs, I made hot cocoa with marshmallows. Placing them all on a tray, I carefully carried them into the living room and placed them on the coffee table.
I sat quietly for everyone to wake up and read a book. "Merry Christmas, brat." I looked up at the monotonous voice and smiled at the red head. "Merry Christmas, Sasori-nii." Taking the purple mug, I past it to him. "I know that you do not need to consume anything to live, but I felt that you'd be left out if did not make you any." Sasori nodded and took the mug in his hands and took a tentative sip. He stared at me before taking a seat, placing my on his lap. "It's adequate." He said and took another sip.
I smiled and went back to reading, leaning myself against the red head. As member after member got up, I handed them their own mug of hot cocoa. A purplish-grey for Leader-sama, teal for Deidara, white for Konan, red for Papa, green for Zetsu, yellow for Kisame, dark green for Kakuzu, orange for Hidan, and a black and white swirled mug for Tobi.
Once everyone was together, the gifts were handed out and everyone opened their gifts. Everyone was shocked to see a gift from me. "Yasuko, when did you get these?" Leader-sama asked. "I got them yesterday when Deidara-nii took me into the village. He left me near the dango shop in the shopping district so he could grab the supplies needed for yesterday's feast and the decorations. Since I was there I got everyone gifts." Leader-sama nodded though many of the members glared at Deidara when I said he left me alone.
I gave Leader-sama a scroll on the Rinnegan, which I had found in one of the stores, hidden underneath a pile of ninjutsu scrolls. He was surprised to see all the information placed in the scroll and patted my head in thanks, a small smile on his lips. I knew that Konan had a hobby of flower pressing and origami, so I got her some origami paper with different designs and a book to place all her pressed flowers. It was a simple leather bound book with a hand drawn picture of flowers blooming across the front. Konan was happy with her gift, seeing as she had no where to keep her pressed flowers and she was running out of origami paper.
I didn't really know what to get for Hidan but I remember seeing a series of books when I entered his room to call him for dinner one time. His grin widened when he opened his gift from me. "No fucking way! 10 different additions from the Icha Icha Paradise gold series! There's fucking only 50 in existence! How the hell did you even buy this shit, bitch?" I ignored his curses and smiled. "The man at the store mistakenly sold it to me. Seeing as there was a no return policy I just kept them." "Thanks you fucking bitch!" "I would appreciate it if you would not address me as such, Hidan-oji."
For Kakuzu, I bought him three rare books that I had found. The storeowner hadn't thought anything of them and sold them to me for a very low price. Kakuzu stared at the books in interest, as he looked them over. "These books are one of a kind. How did you know I even read these types of things?" "I noticed that when you were not counting money, you would be reading a book, and from the date and state of the books, they were old and rare." "Hmmm... observant. I appreciate it."
Seeing as Deidara had a hobby of experimenting with explosions, I bought him some rare and highly explosive ingredients, which made his eyes sparkle in excitement. "Yeah, un! I can't wait to experiment! Art is a bang, yeah!" Sasori grunted at his partner and thanked me for his own gift. I noticed that despite finishing a puppet, Sasori would always go back and make some adjustments weather it be in the mechanics or carving the appearance. With this knowledge, I bought Sasori some carving tools and other tools for smaller and much more detailed work.
Kisame loved his sword Samehada, so I gave him a bunch of material to take care of the sword. Despite it being a really simple gift, Kisame thanked me nonetheless. I had bought Zetsu a bunch of rare seeds, seeing as the two loved to take care of their personal indoor garden. For Tobi, I had bought a large swirl lollipop, as his childish personality was the only clue I had to buy him such a gift.
When it was my turn to open my gifts, I smiled and thanked everyone for the gifts I was given. Konan had given me an assortment of kimono's, both traditional and casual. Their colours varied between the Akatsuki colours of red, black and white which were quite similar to the Uchiha clan's. Leader-sama had given me a scroll of forbidden jutsus, saying that he'd teach when he was free. Sasori's gift was a puppet that strangely resembled Deidara. He told me he'd teach me how to use chakra strings, which I happily agreed to.
Deidara had given me sculptures of each of the Akatsuki members, which made me smile and carefully place back into the box so none of them would break. Kisame had given me a beautiful dagger that he had made for me. It was a short dagger, probably the length of my forearm. It was light and flexible. The blade was sleek and sharpened on both sides. The hilt and blade made it look like a mini trident. The hilt was green and blue and made it seem like a weapon of the sea.
Hidan had given me a pendent for Jashin-sama, which caused many of the members to glare at him. Kakuzu didn't know what to give me, so he instead have me a bag of cash, causing me to look at him in shock. "Don't look at me like that. That should last you a year if you plan on spending it, if not, then good. Less money spent is better." I giggled and nodded in agreement, placing the pouch in a summoning scroll for safekeeping. Both Zetsus gave me a potted Sakura Bonsai Tree that I admired in awe. It was simply beautiful.
When I opened my gift from Papa I grinned. It was a beautiful silver necklace and from the weight it was real silver. It was a simple, round locket with the Uchiha crest on the front. I opened the locket and was shocked to hear the sound of a woman singing. I saw a picture of my Mama waving at me with Papa behind her, his arms wrapped around her waist. From her appearance, Mama was probably a few months pregnant with me.
"Haruka was very skilled when it came to memory jutsus. She placed one on this locket, so anything you think of with me shown in the locket, even if it was moving." Papa explained. "The woman singing, is a recording your mother took and placed it in the locket. She's singing the lullaby that she used to sing to you when she was still pregnant." I sniffed and wrapped my arms around Papa.
"Thank you Papa, I love you."
"I love you too, my little Hime."
After that, we played gamed, had movie marathons, and ate our Christmas dinner. Once it was late, everyone retired tot heir own bedrooms. After changing and cleaning up, I opened the drawer of the desk in the room and took out a wrapped gift. I sat patiently on the bed and waited for Papa. I saw the bathroom door open and smiled as Papa came out dressed for bed, and hair slightly damp.
I got up from the bed and stood in front of him. "I was going to give this earlier, but I thought it would be best to give it to you now." I said as I passed him the gift. Papa smiled and ruffled my hair before lifting up with one arm. He took a seat on the bed and placed me on his right leg as he opened his gift. He raised an eyebrow when he saw an album. It was a plain black album with the Uchiha crest in one of the corners. Unlike the other gifts I bought, I made the gift for Papa by myself. He opened the album and his eyes widened when he saw pictures of his years throughout the Academy, with his clan, his friends, and Mama.
I smiled sadly as he turned to a picture very similar to the one in my locket. "I guess Mama is not the only one good at memory jutsus." I whispered. Papa chuckled sadly as he ran his finger over Mama's smiling picture. "Looks like it." Together we looked at the pictures. As we lay in bed, I opened the locket and listened to the soothing voice of my mother. My eyes began to droop and soon I closed my eyes, a hand holding the locket towards my chest. I felt a pair of warm lips on my forehead and sighed, a soft smile on my lips.
"Merry Christmas, my little Hime."
"Merry Christmas, Papa."
