CHAPTER 5

Avneet felt she could be on the brink of a panic attack with all the anxiety and nervousness. She was currently sitting in one of the rooms of the set that she was going to be her workplace for the next few months. They were supposed to shoot the teaser for the show and also, she would meet the lead actor for the first time. She had met the other cast members a few times but never the lead actor as their schedules never matched. She just hoped he would be a good person and easy to work with.

"Ms. Avneet, we are ready for the shot." the spot boy informed.

Letting the makeup girl lightly fix her makeup, she proceeded to the shooting area. The cameras were set up and the director was talking to someone who had his back facing her. In spite of not knowing who he was or seeing his face, she could easily guess that the person was the lead actor with his ripped body and tall frame.

"Ah! Finally, the leads of my show meet each other." the director exclaimed happily as he noticed Avneet, causing the other man to turn back to look at her.

Shock would be an understatement for the two actors who stared at each other.

"Siddharth?" Avneet managed to croak out.

"Avneet?"

The director smiled widely as he glanced to and fro between the two. "You already know each other?"

"Well, we go to the same college, and she is the best friend of my sister." Siddharth informed as he was the first one to get over the initial shock.

"That's great! Now I don't have to exclude all the scenes I had originally thought of considering two strangers would be uncomfortable performing them but since you are acquaintances, it won't be a problem." he rubbed his hands gleefully, not noticing how the two actors gulped at what lay in store for them.

Ranbir wandered in the busy market alone. It was the last day of their stay in Mumbai. They had extended their stay by a few days, taking the opportunity to prevent Aryan from being cooped up in a room. It was the least he could do to prevent his best friend from completely transforming into a zombie.

Currently, he was searching for an appropriate gift for Prachi. It had become their ritual to bring something for the other when they were out on business trips. It was not that it had to lavish, but the small thoughtful presents for each other were like the tokens that kept the flame of love burning between them.

His eyes fell on a pair of earrings that screamed Prachi at him.

As soon as he saw them, he knew that he had to get it. But to his bad luck, just as he was about to lay his hands on the desired pair of earrings, someone else grabbed them.

"I was about to take them!" he cried out because he could stop himself.

"But I got them first." the person retorted.

Ranbir analyzed the tiny framed girl in front of him. Her face was not clearly visible due to the helmet she was wearing but she didn't seem to be threatening to him. He hoped he could use his charms and persuade her to give him the earrings.

"Please let me have them, it's a gift for my wife." he requested with the best pleading eyes he could put up. "Moreover, you can choose other ones for you and I bet anything would look good on a pretty lady like you."

"Are you trying to hit on me despite having a wife?" the girl glared at him, taking off her helmet.

Ranbir felt the world stop around him. It couldn't be the same person.

"Shahana" he spoke in merely louder than a whisper.

"Is it another one of your cliche flirting techniques?"

"Huh?"

"Did you think acting if you knew me will make me give my real name to you like in the movies? Unfortunately, it's not going to work on me."

"I didn't mean that!" Ranbir tried to defend himself.

"Then, what did you mean?"

"I......" Ranbir opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by the girl again.

"Better save your excuses and I'm letting you have these for your wife as I have other important works than arguing with a flirt." she said handing him the pair and putting on her helmet again.

"Wait, I......." Ranbir tried to stop her.

"You better give them to your wife." she shouted back as she started her scooty.

"I'm not a flirt!" he shouted back at the retreating figure.
