Chapter - 30: Their Journey of Togetherness
"Bhai, when you realised that you are ready for lifelong commitment?" Laksh asked his elder brother. It was Sunday and both brothers were having sibling time in late afternoon post their Squash Game.
"What do you mean?" Sanskar said taking sip from his energy drink, he was wearing black Nike sports t-shirt and grey track pants with his favourite apple watch. They were standing at the terrace of their house facing Arabian sea. Sanskar in afternoon purposefully took Laksh for playing game at their home Squash court, he had observed Laksh silence over last one week, something was bothering his little brother.
"I mean, when you realised you are ready for marriage? I mean... I gave my consent to Ma and Choti Ma to look for a girl of their choice, but I don't know whether I am ready for marriage or not." Laksh shared his inner turmoil with his brother. Two weeks back he conveyed his decision to his mother's about going ahead with this major step of his life that is marriage, but still he was feeling nervous about this lifelong commitment.
"Frankly speaking I don't know Lucky. I always used to hear Badi Ma and Mom talking about Swara, from there, I knew she was their favourite. And somewhere I was sure that she will be my life partner. But when Badi Ma and Mom proposed sudden marriage trust me brother I felt like floor was swept away from my legs." Sanskar said shrugging his shoulders, remembering his marriage day.
Sanskar looked down, Swara was there along with his mother's enjoying their afternoon teatime. She was laughing whole heartily looking at mobile screen. His Mom was showing and telling her something with wiggling eyes.
"It was total shock for me; I was not ready for sudden marriage. But still I accepted and made promise to myself on our marriage day, that I will take care of her and fulfill all vows and promises I will make to her with each ritual. There was surety of lifelong commitment but still some where I was skeptical about my involvement in our relationship with my heart. You know Lucky, we men are confused when it comes to this beautiful relation of our life." Sanskar was talking to Laksh but his eyes were on Swara's smiling face.
"They are more sorted both mentally and emotionally compared to us Lucky." Sanskar pointed at ladies of his house down and continued "From the day they come to this world they know the reality that one day they will leave their birth home and step inside a completely different world holding a stranger's hand, accepting his home, relations, moulding themselves in his routine, carrying forward customs and what not. It's way too difficult for us to even imagine what level of understanding you would require for adapting to new way of life, leaving everything behind their own home, family, relations ......even their own identity for some stranger. But they do it with their heart. Today after one year of our marriage, look at her, how easily she has jelled in our family like she was always a part of it. She has all firsthand information about what is going on in home. They all come from different families, background, distinct personalities but still they have this unexplainable bond with each other. Truly, Woman is Masterpiece created by nature." Sanskar said with amusement, shaking his head appreciating entire womanhood. He was looking down at three generations of women of his house with adored smile.
"Bhai you are scaring me more." Laksh said gulping hard which earned Sanskar to chuckle at his little brother's confusions. He could see himself a year before in his brothers shoes today.
"Lucky don't get scared, just trust your heart and let it flow the way it wants to go. Then only you will be able to find your soulmate in your life partner. Dad gave me some precious advice post my marriage and that was share your routine, do small small things together, become your spouse support system. Communication is major key in any relation Lucky. You have to share each and everything with your partner that helps in building trust and respect. Just take an example; did you remember Roy family's visit after our marriage?" Sanskar turned his gaze towards Laksh and then continued "I shared Kavita's past actions with Swara even though those were not even important to talk about but that step result in passing a message to Swara that we need to share everything. And may be because of that only she was able to convey her past to me." Sanskar tried to explain the beauty of this relation to his little brother.
"I just hope Bhai, to have married life like you. And that is why I told Ma and Choti ma to find girl. I know they are best." Laksh said shrugging his shoulders with smile.
"And now our mothers have one more addition in their gang and trust me they all act as superb cupids. I have experienced it." Sanskar chuckled looking down at wonderful women of his life and continued "just one thing, keep in your mind never ever hurt a girl who will come in your life. Just don't forget she is going to be part of this house; she is going to accept and mold herself in these relations on her trust on you. You have to be with her, whatever situation is....no matter what may come. For her this everything will be new you have to hold her, take care of her, respect and trust her the most, never take her for granted for anything. Love will find its own way towards your other half" Sanskar said passing his wise opinion to his brother ruffling his hairs.
Laksh nodded his head in agreement with smile, he was feeling excited as well as nervousness, this is going to be the best phase of his life and he is going to embrace it with his full heart.
"Swara can you please stop pacing here and there? Why are you taking so much tension? It is just a talk with Kavya and her family." Sanskar said after looking at worried Swara, from the moment she was out of washroom after changing in her night cloths, she was pacing fidgeting her fingers in nervousness.
"How can I not take tension Sanskar? Badi Ma and Mom wants me to talk to Kavya and her family. They think, I can relate and talk in better way with her and her family since we are of same age and background." Swara said pouting, she sat beside Sanskar on their bed. He was working on his Mac earlier.
"Ok but that sounds valid option." Sanskar said shutting off his Mac.
"You don't understand, Kavya and her family needs time to think about this alliance. They are doubtful even with Laksh and Kavya's meet. And what am I supposed to say to them." Swara said snuggling her head on his chest with pout.
Two weeks back Maheshwari ladies finalised girl name Kavya Joshi for their second son Laksh after meticulous search. She was jewellery designer from middle class family of Mumbai. They proposed alliance between Laksh and Kavya. Being middle class, nuclear family Joshi's were skeptical about going ahead with the meet between Laksh and their daughter. Even a simple meet with such powerful family will turn all limelight's on their small family this thought had shook the foundation of Joshi family.
Annapurna and Sujata thought Swara would be the best to talk to Kavya and her family because of their same age and she can convey their family lifestyle in better way. As per them Swara could convince and make Joshi family comfortable with her maturity and sensible attitude, for their upcoming meet with Maheshwari's.
"Kitten don't take any tensions; I know you will do good, in fact best. You just need to put your point of view about our family in front of them. Being parents of a girl it's obvious for them get panic when they receive alliance talks from our family because they don't know the real us. They must be worrying about our status, joint family composition and whether their daughter will be able to adjust and adapt in our family or not. You need to convey that we are not different from them, inside these walls of the house we are same as any other joint family who believes in values, love and respect for our relations." Sanskar said in soft voice for convincing his wife caressing her hairs.
Swara nodded in agreement against his chest, and Sanskar kissed her hairs in assurance.
"Namaste, please come inside" Vidhyadhar Joshi, father of Kavya, welcomed Swara inside their home. Two days back Annapurna asked his and their family's availability for their meet with Swara and finalised Saturday afternoon as per their convenience.
"Thank you, Uncle." Swara stepped inside small two BHK flat of Kavya's parents in Borivali (Western Mumbai Suburb). She took few steps and then turned and said with pressed lips and smile "Roger you stay downstairs."
"But Mam, Sir.." Roger could not finish.
"Don't worry I will talk to him" Swara said biting her lips and shook her head in disbelief over possessiveness of her loving husband.
"Sorry uncle" Swara said with soft smile looking at Vidhyadhar Joshi
"No, Mrs. Maheshwari, Please come and have a seat" Kavya's father welcomed her with warm smile, offered her seat on their drawing room.
"Uncle it's Swara. Please" Swara said in soft voice with small smile, indicating them to call her by her name to avoid any formality.
Mr. Joshi nod his head in acknowledgement with smile at her gesture of simplicity.
"This is my wife Sushma and my daughter Kavya" Vidhyadhar introduced two ladies of the house when they came out of kitchen. Mrs. Joshi had a tray in her hand with glasses filled with Lemon Juice and couple of plates of snacks such as Dhokala, Upma and kajukatli.
Kavya was simple yet beautiful girl dressed in red colour kurti paired with black colour leggings. She was standing trying to keep her mind stable.
"Hi, Namaste Aunty" Swara greeted two ladies, while getting up from her seat.
"Namaste. Please seat" Mrs. Joshi said with smile.
"Sorry you had to come all the way long over here, actually we should have come. But then.." Mr. Joshi said apologetically, he was unsure from where to start the conversation, same was Swara's condition.
"No, no uncle, don't say sorry. It's perfectly fine." Swara said shaking her head, she was feeling embarrassed on his apologist tone.
"Please have something" Mrs. Joshi offered Lemon Juice and some snacks to Swara to make environment light.
"I will have it, no formality Aunty" Swara said picking up Kajukatli from plate.
"Hi Kavya, you work with Elma's right?" Swara asked her in low voice even though she was well aware about Kavya's profile, at least from somewhere she needed to start their conversation.
"Yes, Mam as an intern" Kavya replied with soft smile, after all Elma' s expensive jewellery chain store is now under Maheshwari Business House. And the lady sitting in front of her is wife of the CEO of this Business Empire.
"Swara, please call me Swara only" Swara said blinking her eyes giving her assurance.
"Actually, we wanted to talk but we don't know how to start. I mean our's is simple middle-class family, that too Kavya has been raised in nuclear family. Maheshwari is very big name for us from criteria's status, affluence, reputation. Also, yours's is very big joint family, whereas Kavya has been raised in very small family. We were thinking how we could match with your.... We are glad that your family approached to us but if we proceed with meet and if nothing worked out then....I mean to say there is always media focus on your family." Mr. Joshi tried to put his worries in to sentences.
"Uncle if I say I understand your worries as father of Kavya then it would be wrong. But I can share my experience as daughter of my family." Swara said feeling pride to call herself as Maheshwari's daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Joshi shared a look.
"I know what you must be thinking that why I said daughter when I am a daughter in law of Maheshwari's, married to their elder son Sanskar. But yes, I am their daughter. I lost my parents at my teens, before marrying Sanskar, I used to live with my Nani. Me and Sanskar got married in sudden situation where we both were complete strangers for each other, including all family members for me. But everybody played their part making me comfortable in that house. And it was not only making me comfortable but loving and caring for me as their own daughter, placing my happiness and choices as their priority." Swara explained them, but Joshi family could felt her content feeling in her eyes and sincerity in her voice.
"Uncle, Sanskar and Laksh both have been raised with the upbringing which should be considered as benchmark. Even when they both were born with platinum spoon studded with diamonds, they value their relations which are built on trust, love, care and respect fulfilling their commitments towards each member of the family. They both had done tremendous hard work to be in their current positions. The life which they are living was not given to them in gift box, but they earned it. I feel blessed after getting married with Sanskar and becoming a daughter of my family." Swara mentioned but she passed look to Kavya every now and then to understand her reaction.
"Now if you say about the status and family composition, then Uncle our family is same as yours inside those walls of house just with some additional amazing and lovely relations. Uncle my home has all beautiful relations which you can read in any fairy-tale. I am not here to ask Kavya to say yes for this marriage. No never. It will be her decision which she needs to take after thinking about her life. I just want to say her that meet Laksh one time or may be couple of times and then decide." She took deep breath looking at relaxed expressions on Kavya's parents.
Swara turned her gaze towards Kavya and said with assurance "We all feel you are perfect for Laksh but you both also need to feel that you both are perfect each other right? There is chance where one of you might feel otherwise as well and trust me no body will force you for anything against your wish. And with regards to media attention, Uncle you don't have to worry about it my family will take care of it."
"Congratulations Laksh and Kavya" Swara wished giving warm hug to Kavya. It was their engagement ceremony. After almost one month of Swara's visit to Kavya's house, finally Laksh and Kavya decided to tie a knot after meeting 5-6 of times.
"Congratulations Lucky and Kavya. Welcome to the family Kavya" Sanskar wished the newly engaged couple.
It was decided four months later wedding will take place. Rituals such as haldi, sangeet, mehndi and Shaadi will be complete private affair whereas Maheshwari's will hold a lavish event as reception post their marriage.
"Kitten do you want to get married again? I mean, I don't have any problem." Sanskar asked Swara softly on their night walk. He had observed over last two months how Swara was enjoying all preparations and celebrations of Laksh marriage.
"What do you mean?" Swara asked scrunching her eyebrows.
"I mean we missed all these rituals right. And you must have dreamt of all these before our marriage." Sanskar reasoned her out.
"Not really Sanskar, for me it was always Dida's dream was more precious that time. And the way we got married was the best possible way to tie this pious relation. It was our way, our day, our start of the journey towards togetherness. I don't want to change the beauty of it by adding or subtracting anything. I just want it as it is." Swara said with shine in her eyes.
Swara came out of room where Sanskar was waiting for her in corridor. She was wearing lavender colour lehenga, with silver zerdoji work Sanskar skip his heartbeat. She was wearing beautiful diamond set which Sanskar gifted her on their first marriage anniversary along with Mangalsutra and Sindoor and light make up. Even when it is going to two years of their marriage soon she held power to make him speechless with her serene beauty and innocence.
"Sanskar, chale? Everybody must be waiting for us" Swara said while fixing the hook of her diamond earrings.
"Ummh?" Sanskar hummed in his blank mode looking at his heavenly beautiful wife. He was wearing dark grey Tom Ford Suit with white shirt and matching tie along with his Audemars Piguet watch with Platinum belt, Allen Edmond shoes and Dior musky perfume. He would make any girl flattered with his one look.
"No, let's not join the party. I don't want anybody to see you like this." Sanskar whispered in her ears brushing his lips over her ears.
"Sanskar stop it, we are outside. We have so many guests at home. It's Laksh and Kavya's reception. Chalo we will get late." Swara needed to control her romantic husband else they won't be able to go downstairs and instead of newlyweds they will become prey of all teasing. As usual Sanskar was holding her palm possessively during entire party hours, and they got lot of teasing from all family members.
"Sanskar, come here na please." Swara called him, post reception she was in dressing room, removing her jewellery but her neckpiece got entangled with her hairs.
Sanskar came and sort her neckpiece from her hairs, and then wrapped her in back hug keeping his chin on her shoulder, she was still in her lehenga.
"You know earlier I used to think these are complicated stuff, but now I consider them as benefits." Sanskar whispered looking at her in mirror with naughty smile.
Swara looked at him in corner eyes.
"The benefit is because of sorting them I can romance with my Kitten." Sanskar said giving feathery kisses on her neck, and as usual Swara melted in his kisses feeling content.
He turned her in swift moment taking her in passionate kiss, they broke the kiss panting heavily. They stared at each other desired filled eyes to lose in the passion of love for each other.
"It's ok. You must be tired" Sanskar said caressing her cheeks.
"I can never get tire in your love" Swara said shying keeping her head on his chest.
Sanskar raised her face holding her chin with his two fingers to look at her eyes. He saw the enchanted pool of love and passion for himself in her big dow eyes.
He slowly bend towards her lips and kiss her softly but with her response their kiss turned into passionate one. He lifted her in bridal style without breaking their kiss and came towards their bed. He kept her on bed like delicate doll. And they both got lost in expressing their love, passion and desire to their other half.
"Are you ok? Did I hurt you?" Sanskar asked pulling Swara who was now wrapped in comforter over his bare chest.
"You can never hurt me Sanskar. You meant to love me." Swara snuggled in his embrace drawing patterns on his bare chest. 'Soon it will be two years for our marriage but still every time after our love making, he asks me the same question' she thought feeling blessed under her husband's love and care.
"Sanskar, you know Kaushalya Dadi said Janvi (Sanskar's cousin's wife) has good news, they are expecting." Swara said after some time of silence.
"That's great so tomorrow morning I should congratulate Adwait then" (Sanskar's cousin) Sanskar said inhaling her sweet fragrant and caressing her bare arm, he had closed his eyes to feel her.
"Sanskar, Adwait Bhai and Janvi got married last year only and now they have good news. Don't you think we also need to think about baby?" Swara raised her head looking at his peaceful face.
Sanskar opened his eyes to look at his wife.
"Ohh so you want to think about baby because Adi and Janvi are expecting before us?" Sanskar asked her in confusion.
"No, I mean, we will be completing two years of our marriage soon. During Laksh wedding ceremonies or even today, everybody was asking me about baby. Sudha Mami even teased me, saying stop family planning now. Badi Ma, Mom covered it for me but they and everybody from house should have some expectations. They did not voice it out but its natural right?" Swara said turning red remembering their teasing sessions.
"Ohh so you want baby because our family and relatives are expecting it." Sanskar again asked caressing her cheeks.
"No not really. Don't you want baby?" Swara asked him with irritation.
"Of course, I want Kitten. But do you want baby?" Sanskar asked looking straight in her eyes.
"Come on is this a question to ask Sanskar? Of course, I want our baby" Swara said not understanding his point of view.
"Then that has to be the first and foremost reason from your side Swara." Sanskar said in convincing tone.
"What are you saying? I am not understanding anything" Swara said in confusion.
"Kitten, baby is very big responsibility. Its responsibility of one life. Are we ready for it? And more than us, are you ready for it? Swara, for me it will be one beautiful moment with you but for you, it will be complete 180-degree change from your routine, your priorities, your responsibilities, everything. On every step, I will be with you and we will have best family support but at least for first nine months even though I want, I won't be able to do much. Are you ready for those nine months of morning sickness, backpain, hormonal changes, mood swings, frequent visits to doctors, countless restrictions and deadly labour pain?" Sanskar said giving her reality check.
"You are scaring me Sanskar, but you will be there to care for me. And support me." Swara replied after some moments and asked him for his support.
"Of course, Kitten, but to become a mother your life will have more changes compared to any other person including me." Sanskar said explaining tone.
"But now a days Sanskar I really want hold our baby. And when you are by my side, do I need to worry about anything? Please Sanskar I am not saying to have it immediately but at least we can start thinking and planning right" Swara said understanding his point of view and at the same time showing her readiness for this new responsibility.
"Ok, if you are fine, I am good with it. Let's get you medically checked with Radhika aunty first, and then decide as per her advice." Sanskar said kissing her forehead.
"Swara, what happened?" Sanskar observed Swara over two days, she was disturbed over something. It was one week passed to Laksh and Kavya's reception and they were on their Honeymoon to Switzerland.
"Tomorrow you are going to Kolkatta right?" Swara asked fidgeting her fingers.
"Hmm" Sanskar hummed with nod scrunching his eyebrows.
"Tomorrow it is Ashtami, two years back Badi Ma and Mom met Dida in Durga Ma temple on the same day. I was just thinking to visit that temple and Dida's house but..." Swara wanted to go with him to Kolkatta, it's been near to 2 years she visited her Dida's house. Just to eliminate Gadodia's as she did not even want to face them, she never visited Kolkatta. Visiting Badi means facing them was her equation. She never broached the topic of Gadodia's between them not even Sanskar over last one and half year.
"Don't worry I told you earlier as well their chapter is closed from our life. You will not face them so if you are reluctant to come because of them then you don't have to supress your wish." Sanskar replied her cupping her face with his both hands. Nobody could understand Swara more than Sanskar, he just know what is going on in her mind by one look.
Next day Sanskar took Swara along with him for his meeting he dropped her at Badi and left for his office keeping Roger along with his security team for Swara's safety.
"Hi Swara" Varsha (neighbour) came and wished her.
"Hello Varsha Bhabhi, how are you?" Swara wished her with smile.
"I am good, how are you? Long time." Varsha asked her.
"Haan Bhabhi, I was just busy with family and routine. I am good too." Swara replied opening the door of Dida's house.
Swara was amazed to look at the house clean, neat and tidy. She looked at Roger and mouthed 'thank you' with smile. She knew he must have taken care of her Dida's house.
"Mam, I will be staying outside." Roger replied her with smile.
"It is ok Roger have some time for yourself" Swara said.
"No Mam, I will stay here" Roger replied, he was stubborn just like his boss.
Swara shook her head and went inside followed by Varsha.
Varsha was her only friend lived in Badi who was married in one of the neighbouring family, even though she was elder to Swara they were quite good friends. They had long chatting hours discussing about their lives. While gossiping with Varsha, Swara realised Varsha had started childcare in her house to support her husband.
"Varsha Bhabhi, can I suggest you something?" Swara asked her.
"What Swara?" Varsha asked her.
"Bhabhi you can use this house for your childcare, it must be becoming difficult for you to take care of kids in your house. As it is this is empty, I would love if you use it." Swara suggested holding Varsha's hand.
"No Swara how can I? It is ok." Varsha felt embarrassed for sharing about her childcare with Swara.
"Bhabhi please, I feel Dida's presence over here. She should not feel lonely. Please" Swara convinced Varsha. After lot of convincing sessions Varsha agreed for Swara's offer where she need to pay rent in the form of lightening one diya in front of Dida's pic every day.
Swara got message from Sanskar that his meeting was over, and he was heading back towards Badi.
"Swara come at home at least meet Ma, have some tea and snacks" Varsha forced her.
Swara nodded in agreement and started walking towards Varsha's home, but her gaze went towards Gadodia's home. She saw unknow faces inside house.
"They left this house beta around one and half year back and shifted to Banaras." Varsha's MIL said from back gaining all attention from Swara and continued "You must be aware about them right?"
"No aunty, we are not in much contact" Swara whispered feeling uneasy with their current topic of discussion.
"Shekhar was involved in something, Police closed his shop as well. Police were also at their doorstep. Don't know what happened but then they decided to sale this house and their shop before shifting to Banaras. I met Parvati ji around 6 months back, they are happy there, leading peaceful life. Last year, Ragini also got married, Parvati ji was saying she was planning to go for Char Dham Yatra since Ragini is also settled now." Varsha's MIL feed her with additional information.
"Ragini got married. It is really good news." Swara said with smile, even though her sister betrayed her but on the grounds of humanity, she felt good that finally Ragini moved on.
Swara stayed with Varsha's family enjoying their hospitality when she received message from Sanskar that he was outside, so she bid bye to her friend's family and started leaving from there. She gave glanced at Dida's house closed door and then unknowingly her gaze went towards Gadodia's house, she left deep sigh and started walking towards her husband's car.
At the same time Ragini stepped out of family court room of Banaras holding final verdict of her Divorce Papers with moist eyes. A year and three months, back she married with Avinash Srivastav in an arranged marriage. Avinash was from middle class family. His parents used to live in Kanpur, but he was settled in Banaras due to his job. He was on the post of assistant branch manager of nationalised bank, with simple, matured, responsible and calm nature, earning good enough for his family. Ragini married with him due to pressure from her family.
After marriage Avinash tried his best to fulfill his responsibilities as husband taking care of her, showering his love, care and time over her. But Ragini's involvement in their relation was not from heart, she used to always keep on comparing her life with her sister's life, complaining about inadequate resources, taunting Avinash for his limited income, in short Avinash became her prey to dump all her frustrations.
In initial days of their marriage Avinash tried to fulfill all her wishes and demands but there was limit for him as well, he was not any millionaire. Her taunting, complaining, non-satisfying nature started creating rift between them. Ragini could not even jelled up with his family, she kept on indirectly blaming all of them for her miseries that hurt him the most.
Avinash started spending most of his time in his office where he got emotional support from his newly joined colleague Surbhi. Over the period of time her emotional support turned their professional relation in to love which they both were not ready to accept due to his martial status. They both started maintaining distance with each other. Avinash started feeling guilty thinking he cheated on his wife resulting him giving maximum attention to Ragini.
One day on one minor issue Ragini left her house and went back to her Mayaka. She thought like every time Avinash will come and bow his head for her unrealistic demand of Europe tour. But it was late for Ragini to realise her mistakes. Avinash did not come but his signed divorce papers broke the thread of this pious relation. Ragini fought back in court for her right but then court granted them divorce when Avinash lawyer proved Ragini incompetency for their relation.
Ragini looked at Avinash, he was standing with Surbhi introducing her to his parents with bright smile and that's when the destiny put the last nail in the coffin. Destiny had given one opportunity to Ragini to move on and lead happy life, but it was too late for her to understand.
Earlier she thought to break her sister's marriage by being another woman in her husband's life but her own married life got shattered due to another woman or should we say her own karma.
Shekhar, Sharmishtha and Parvati looked at their daughter with moist eyes. Was she paying for their deeds or her own sins? that was the question running in their minds
"Swara what are you doing come outside? Are you ok? What happened? From last half an hour you are in washroom." Sanskar again knocked on the door of his washroom in concern.
"Just 2 minutes Sanskar." Swara said from inside. She came outside after 10 minutes.
"What happened? Are you ok?" Sanskar asked with worried face.
"Yes, I...I ... was feeling some vomiting's." Swara said biting her lips, but her heart was racing a marathon to know about her husband's reaction over upcoming good news.
"Who told you to eat that peanut chatni so much yesterday. You know you always suffer from acidity if you eat it lot ...." Sanskar was frustrated over her, last night she ate chatni like there is no tomorrow. He was scolding her while bringing her near their bed holding her arms to make her rest.
"Sanskar I...I missed my periods." Swara cut him and whispered in low voice, hoping her husband's business brain to understand what she wanted to reveal.
"It's all because of stress you are taking for Uttu's engagement. Everybody is there but no you have to do everyth..." Sanskar was more irritated now, she was not taking care of her health which was like biggest crime she had made from his point of view.
Sanskar was stopped when Swara held his hand and kept one white test strip in his palms. He looked at the test strip there were two pink lines which were enough to knock senses to his extra practical brain.
"Pregnant?" Sanskar asked her to confirm and Swara nodded her head with small smile.
"Is ...is it? Do... do you ... do you have one more? Let's re-confirm." Sanskar said with thumping heart gulping audibly.
Swara put another two test strips in his palms, with bright smile and moist eyes.
"We.. we are expecting Sanskar" Swara mumbled looking at her husband.
He was looking at those test strips with teary eyes, his palm started shaking with happiness. He brought another palm to hold the one which had test strips confirming arrival of his baby. He was holding those three test strips in his palms with utmost care, his first feeling of holding his baby. He looked at his Kitten who had tears rolling on her cheeks, they shared a long eye lock. Both were feeling stream of tears on their cheeks but smile on their faces were mirror of showing heart-warming feeling.
Sanskar carefully kept those three test strips on night table and then turned to looked at his Kitten. He took a step forward for kissing her forehead, his one tear fell on her cheek.
"I .. I don't know what to say?" Sanskar said wrapping her in his embrace.
Swara kept her head on his chest wrapping her arms around his waist and mumbled "I love you Sanskar."
"I love you Kitten. Thank you, thank you so much for this precious little bundle of joy" Sanskar said pulling her in his tight embrace.
Sanskar bend down and sat on his knees after breaking their hug. He carefully placed his palm and caressed her stomach and said with smile "Hey my Munchkin, this me your Dadda. I love you my baby and I love your Mumma the most. Thank you so much for coming to us. From this moment Mumma and Dadda are waiting to hold you and love you. Just don't trouble your Mumma too much please."
Swara felt his touch over her tummy, like he is touching his baby for the first time, it was too gentle, feathery and smoothening. He will be the best father for their baby.
Sanskar got up from his position and again took her in his embrace, closing his eyes. Today he was not only feeling his wife close to his heart but his baby as well.
