Jared's Pov

The wolf was gaining back consciousness. Sam looked at me and told me to get ready for some action. Who could be this stranger? No wolf was ever sighted in our territory before.

His heartbeat quickened and the eyes opened weakly.

Suddenly I heard a sound in my head, the sound of the wolf seemed too similar to me.

Hell No! It was Paul. Within a second, Paul's wolf form was lying on the ground whining and Sam was above him. I mind-linked with Sam who quickly got away from Paul.

He fell unconscious.

Next day evening

" This is the reason for your sudden disappearance from school. I was so worried. Ok, forget about all this just tell me why you didn't tell me about? " Paul looked into my eyes searching for answers.

I raised my arms in a sense to stop him from being melodramatic.

"But why didn't you tell ............"

"Come on Paul, don't think about all that. The transformation came to me all of a sudden and I was totally confused. Sam was there for help else I would be insane. I was too confused about the unexpected things happening in my life. Even if I tell you would take me to be insane. " I wrapped my arms around my knees and sighed.

" So how was your experience for the first time? "

" It was hell. You remember the day when I had a fight with you; that was the day I first shifted. I was driving my car and suddenly I felt as if my entire body was being ground into pieces. I rushed out of the car and was on the ground for a long time . Finally, the pain subsided. I opened my eyes to see myself turned into a wolf. Everything was like a dream. I was in a dilemma. "
I gave a deep sigh and looked up to see Paul with eager eyes. I continued "My mind was going through a rollercoaster ride.
That's when I heard a sound from behind and a wolf form in deep black came closer to me. I thought it was trying to hurt me and ran at full speed to avoid it. I kept running looking backward all the time and in this futile run, I collided with a tree trunk and darkness ascended soon. I could feel someone's presence but the pain and agony coupled with intense emotional bewilderment drained my strength. I was unwilling to open my eyelids. And when I woke up in the morning, everything seemed normal.
I was not a wolf. There was not even a scar on my head. And I tried to convince myself that everything was nothing but a bad dream. That's when
I found something awkward; I was not in my clothes my naked body was covered in a blanket and to my utter surprise, my biceps were like inflated balloons. That's when Sam entered the scene. "

"How did you recover so quickly? ", asked Paul.

" That was exactly what I had asked Sam. Well, he went on to explain the wolf world to me. Wolves have a super fast healing process. That helped me heal quickly and the process didn't even leave a scar on my head."

" Yes, I know." I smiled " Come on we are here to practice, I have to prepare you. Sam has commanded me to train you. "

" How can Sam command you? Who is ........." he trailed off with the sentence.

" Sam is our Alpha"

"So what exactly is this Alpha? "

" Alpha means the head of the wolf Group"

" But there is no Group, just the three of ous"

"Yep, I know. Initially, Sam was the only one in the Tribe ( group). He didn't even know about this process. Even though my first shift was awkward, Sam's was even worse. Sam was raised on the reservation by his mother. The stress of providing for a family was too much for his father, who left when Sam was very young. Sam took on most of what should have been his father's responsibilities, and as a result, he was always very mature for his age. He had been taught the old werewolf legends about his great-grandfather, but like everyone else of his generation, Sam believed they were myths. When he was a sophomore in high school, Sam began dating Leah. "

" Leah Clearwater? Man, you are joking? Sam is with Emily I guess".

" Come on listen carefully. During his senior year, he became the first of his generation to phase into a wolf. Having no idea what had happened to him and struck by panic, he hid deep in the forest for two weeks. Finally, he calmed down enough that he turned back into a human while he slept. He snuck home and told no one about his experience. He wouldn't talk to his mother or to Leah, he believed that he'd gone insane and was having delusions."

" Oh! He must have faced a lot of emotional trauma."

" Kind of trauma. He lived in fear of another transformation until stopped by to see Allison and happened to shake Sam's hand. Old Quil had been taught to recognize the signs of a werewolf who has already phased or is about to. Sam's high temperature and recently unexplained disappearance made the situation clear to Old Quil. That night, Old Quil, and went to Sam's house and invited him to a council meeting and explained that they knew what had happened to him and that everything he thought were myths were really facts, and that some members of their tribe have the power to transform into werewolves, and that there are real vampires. The appearance of the was the cause of his transformation. After that, he took his responsibility toward the tribe very seriously. Though everything became clear, he had trouble controlling his newfound powers. They bonded through shared experience and mutual secrecy."

I continued, "His relationship with his mother and Leah became more difficult because he couldn't give away any information about what had happened to him. His relationship with Leah was strained, but not broken. When Leah's cousin, came to town for a visit, Sam was asked to stop by their house to hang out. He had already met Emily several times, and liked her very much. However, when he met her for the first time after he phased, he on her the moment he looked into her eyes. Fighting the urge to be near Emily, he left without a word. That night, he went to the Clearwaters' house and broke up with Leah without explanation. He was consumed with painful guilt of breaking Leah's heart. Leah was devastated, but she hoped for the future, but Sam told her to give up on him.Sam then spent two days waiting for Emily to return to her home in Neah Bay. He forced himself to stay away while she was with Leah, determined to keep from hurting Leah anymore than was absolutely necessary. Emily was surprised to see Sam, having heard about the breakup. She was horrified when he explained that he had broken up with Leah in order to be with her. He obeyed when she told him to leave, but didn't stay away for long. Eventually, he told her all his secrets and even phased in front of her. At that point, she had no choice but to believe, but she still couldn't accept his feelings for her. However, she didn't order him to leave and never come back. So he returned, and they continued to argue. Emily wanted him to go back to Leah and try to make it work, but Sam didn't want to hurt Leah anymore."

" So what is this feeling Jared? Why was it that he felt it all of a sudden for Emily? Sam is such.........such ................ a dick" Paul was infuriated.

" CALM DOWN. It's called imprinting." I replied and Paul gave a confused look.

I spoke again," When a shape-shifter imprints on a specific girl or woman, he becomes unconditionally bound to her for the rest of his life. When it happens, the experience is described as being gravitationally pulled toward that person while a glowing heat fills him, and everyone and everything else in his life becomes secondary, and only the imprintee is left to matter, leaving the shape-shifter with a deep need to do anything to please and protect his soulmate. Imprinting can occur anytime after a wolf's first phasing. It can happen with anyone, regardless of previous personal feelings. It happens the first time he sees the object of his imprinting. Imprinting can't be forced on anyone, no matter how much the shape-shifter may want it, as shown by when he tried numerous times to imprint on. "

"Ok! This is interesting. When am I gonna have my soul mate? "

" Dunno." I responded.

" What about you ? " Paul smirked.

I sighed and didn't respond.

We had to practice , It dawned on me " Get up, you Lazy Ass" I shouted at the top of my voice and Paul jerked a bit. We stood up and began our practice. I tried to help Paul shift without pain. His shift was not that smooth. But then we did it somehow. We trained for nearly three hours and soon it was dark all around. We shifted back to our human form.

It was so good that Paul was with me. I had shared almost everything with him. We were now a bigger gang!
