[Luke's POV]

I wake up on Monday determined to apologize to Ashton. I really don't want him to hate me so if I don't do this now then we'll just grow further apart. I decide to talk to him after Biology class because I'm sure he won't want to talk to me in front of his friends at lunch. The only thing I'm worried about is that if I tell him I have feelings for him and he ends up being straight. I mean he's very feminine so I doubt it but who knows. Like normal me and Jacob, who is my only friend at this point, just sit in class and make jokes. Not even doing any of our work. I can tell the teacher is starting to get annoyed with us so I try to calm down a little bit. After a while we decide to actually have a normal conversation.
"So, where do you sit at lunch? I never see you around." He asks me with curiosity.
"I sit by myself at a table by the wall. People used to stare at me because I sit by myself but they kinda stopped staring as much so it's good."
"Next time they stare you should just tell them to fuck off." His comment caused us both to laugh and the whole class just stared at us and Jacob just yells to everyone "What are you looking at?!!" Causing me to laugh again and made me a little embarrassed. At lunch I noticed that no one stared at me anymore which made me happy and relieved. I'm eating my food when suddenly I see someone sit across from me at the table. I look up expecting to see Ashton's face but I'm surprised to find Jacob and it caused me to smile.
"Hey. Why are you over here?" I felt like he felt sorry for me and I didn't like it.
"I decided to eat lunch with my new friend today. And plus nobody deserves to be lonely at lunch so I'll be your new lunch buddy." The word lunch buddy caused us to both to breakout into laughter. Throughout our conversation I kept glancing over to Ashton's table to see if he looked upset or happy. He had a smile on his face but you could tell it was fake. I felt really bad because I had a feeling that I was the cause of his sadness. Jacob catches me looking over and he turns to see what I'm looking at.
"Who are you staring at? Is it your crush?" He said with a wink.
"Shut up. I guess you could say that but it's really complicated."
"You've only lived here for a week! How are there already complications?" He made a good point.
"Is it that Ashton guy?" My face froze and I blushed.
"No." I hesitated.
"Holy shit you're gay?! Why didn't you ever tell me this?" I covered his mouth to make sure no one heard.
"Shut up! I barely found out the first day I came here. I've been ignoring him and I feel bad. I'm going to try to apologize in fourth period but I'm afraid he won't accept my apology."
"Are you going to tell him you like him?" He asked seriously.
"No I want to wait a little bit. You know, get to know him first."
The bell rang and I had to go to Biology now. My heart sank as I walked to the class.

I walked in and sat in my seat. I glanced over to Ashton and saw him looking at his notebook with a sad expression on his face. I felt terrible for shutting him out and I can't help but feel like such an ass. He never once looked up during the class period. I know that can't be a good thing. When the bell rings he quickly walks out of the room and I grab my bag and chase after him down the hall.
"Ashton!" I yell for him. "Ashton!" I know he heard me but is trying to ignore it. Finally I catch up to him and he just looks at me and says "What?" With a blank expression on his face.
"Look im sorry I've been an ass this week. I know I didn't give you a chance to get to know each other and it was wrong of me to shut you out and it was very immature. I wish I could explain everything better but it's complicated."
"How is it complicated?" He asked the question that I dreaded most.
" Look can you please just forgive me? I really want to get to know you more and be your friend." I gave him a sad look.
He hesitated but finally answered "Fine, I guess we could be friends" a small smile appeared on his face causing me to smile too and blush a little. I give him a hug and I run to my next class. I'm so relieved to know that he wasn't mad at me anymore.

That night I get a follow request on Instagram and I check to see who it is. Sure enough it's exactly who I was hoping. Ashton. I accept the follow and I follow him back in return. He send me a dm with his number in it and he tells me to text him.
Luke: "Hey. Whatcha up to?"
Ashton: "Nothing much just listening to music. What about you?"
Luke: "I'm writing my report for English class. It sucks so bad."
Ashton: "lol so there are a few things I wanted to tell you about my myself before we become friends."
Luke: "Ok what is it?"
Ashton: "Well first, I come from a poor and abusive family so I have trust issues. And second, I'm gay." When I read that last part I about jumped. My biggest worry was just that. A worry! He is gay which means I have a chance! This made my night. I told him that I'm very acceptive of gays and I'm very trustworthy. He told me that he wanted me and Jacob to sit with him and his friends at lunch tomorrow. I said yes because I mean why would I say no? This is the best way to get close to him.

The next day I tell Jacob about eating lunch with Ashton and his response was "sure I'll be glad to help you get the D!" Causing us both to laugh and making me blush a little bit.
"Ew gross I don't want that yet." I was being honest but he gave me a look saying that he didn't believe me.
After third period we walk over to Ashton's table and my heart is pounding out of my chest as we get closer. Finally I see the back of his head and I walk up to him.
"Hey." You can tell I kinda scared him because he flinched when I spoke.
"Oh hey! Here sit down." He motioned for me to sit next to him. He looks towards his friends. "Calum, Michael this is Luke and his friend... What is your name again? Sorry."
"It's Jacob" and of course he says it in a voice mocking Ashton's but no one notices except for me.
The guy with the green hair, who I assume is Michael says to me, "Hey, I've heard a lot about you. Ashton never stops talking about you and to be honest it gets annoying." He lets out a small laugh as Ashton nudges him. I can tell it was true because Ashton started to blush.
"Well it's nice to meet you finally. Hopefully Ashton will be inviting you to hang out with us more often so we can become friends." Says Calum.
"He better" we all laugh at my sarcastic response. For a while we all just talk about music and it turns out we like a lot of the same bands which was pretty cool to me. Calum and Michael get into a fight about which is better Green Day or Rolling Stones. I just laugh at how stupid they look but it was nice to be in a group again instead of just talking to one person everyday.

When the weekend comes I text Jacob and Ashton to come over to hang out and I say to invite Calum and Michael. We decide to pull an all nighter because you know why the hell not? When they first come over they all state at my house the same way I did when I first moved in and it was pretty funny to look at their faces. We start off by watching movies. We watch Insidious, Mean Girls, and The Expendables. After we finished the movies we decided to make cookies from scratch and man was that the biggest mistake ever. We made the biggest mess and Michael started a food fight which caused an even bigger mess. I was glad that me and Jacob fit in so perfect with Ashton and his friends. And it's even better knowing that I won't be a loner a graduation.

After we clean our mess we decide to just lay in my room. Michael, Calum and Jacob all end up falling asleep leaving just me and Ashton.
"Hey are you awake?" I can tell its Ashton's voice but I don't look over.
" ya." I look up and our eyes meet in the dark but the moonlight allows me to see him.
"I wanted to ask you something."
"Ya what is it?" I kinda got scared at the question.
"Why did you ignore me last week? Did I do something wrong?"
"No it.. It's just really complicated." I can't tell him that I like him so I just try to play it off.
"Ok well I'm getting tired of just laying here so can we go in the living room or something?"
"Ya. Let's go sit on my back porch so we can talk without waking my parents up." We get up and walk together to the backyard. We sit together on the bench. It's awkward silence at first but then Ashton starts a conversation.
"So what was Australia like?"
"It was nice but they are in a different season right now so it was kind of strange to come here to California and find it to be hot." He gave me a look that showed that he really listened to what I had to say. I really liked that about him.
"So have any girls hit on you yet at school?" He said with a laugh.
"No, ew." It left my mouth before I could take it back.
"Why ew?" He was confused.
"Um.. I don't know I just don't like the girls here." I had to lie and I felt bad. It started to get cold so me and Ashton sat closer for body warmth. It was really hot to be honest. We just sat quietly and stared at the moon. Then we began messing around and poking each other to try to get each other to squirm and we just couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't help it anymore and I pressed my lips against him and it felt like bolts of lightning rushing through my body. He didn't pull away so I take it he liked it and when I pulled away slowly he gave me look of surprise and confusion.
"Wait I thought you were straight? Is this just your way of messing with me because I told you I was gay cuz if it is I sw-" I pulled him into another short kiss and when I pulled away I told him the truth.
"The reason I ignored you was because on the first day I met you I got these weird feelings and I was afraid to admit to myself that I was gay but I realized how stupid I was and that's why I apologized for the way I treated you. I became more open of being gay and if my feelings towards you. I just couldn't hide it anymore." He stared at me for a minute and then a smile grew on his face and he pulled me into a hug.
"In case you couldn't tell before, when I first saw you walk into class that first day, you immediately caught my attention and when I talked to you outside of class I got this feeling of happiness that I haven't real had in a while. That's why it hurt when you were ignoring me but it's ok now because I know how you feel about me." This caused me to blush and he put his arm around me. We continued to just look at the night sky for a few more minutes and then we decided to go to sleep so we went back into my room where the other guys were.

I woke up first in the morning and I was too tired to realize that I was on top of Ashton. I quickly got up causing Ashton to wake up.
"What's wrong?! What happened?" He saw the scared look on my face.
"Nothing sorry I just woke up and I.. Was on top of you so I got up before.. You know they woke up." As I pointed to the three guys who are somehow still sleeping.
"Oh, ok well now that we are awake what should we do?"
"Let's go make some breakfast!" I just wanted to get out of this room.

We decide to make waffles and a few minutes later Jacob and Calum walk into the kitchen.
"Hey sleepyheads! Could stay awake all night?" I loved Ashton's sarcasm.
"Shut the fuck up." Calum said giving Ashton a weird look. It was the look of like 'I know something' and it scared me that he saw me on top of Ashton.
Michael wakes up a few minutes later and we all eat and then leave for the mall. We only shopped at Hot Topic because every other store is for hipsters. I bought a new Green Day shirt and a new Sex Pistols shirt. Michael bought an Ozzy Osborne shirt and Calum got a Blink-182 shirt. I don't know why but Ashton and Jacob chose not to get a shirt. They showed me some they like so since Christmas is coming up I decided I'll buy them the shirts for Christmas. They all leave around 4 in the afternoon and I just sit in my room for the rest of the day.
