The next morning was bright and sunny. The sun's rays gleamed through the sliding glass door, brightening the room.

Taehyung groaned, rolling over and hugging his new "pillow". He slightly opened his eyes, adjusting to the light.

He looked up to see the maknae still fast asleep. He played with the younger's bed hair and chubby cheeks. V giggled and snuggled closer.

"Today's the day." He said to himself smiling widely.

Taehyung rolled out of bed and looked around the room. He found the coffee maker and the complementary coffee packets with creamers.

He made Jungkook and himself coffee and poured it into small mugs. He pulled the table out onto the balcony that gave them a perfect view of the ocean. When he was done, there was a knock at the door.

"Right on time." He said, looking at his watch.

Taehyung walked over, opened the door, and was handed a plater filled with pancakes and fruits.

He payed the man and closed the door behind him. V walked over to the small table, out on the balcony, and placed the breakfast and the coffees on top.

"Perfect." He clapped his hands and turned to face the sleeping maknae.

Taehyung walked over to the younger's side and slightly pushed him.

"Jungkooooook."

No answer.

"Kookie!"

Jungkook opened his eyes slowly. "What."

Taehyung giggled and crawled on top of him, hovering over him.

"You better wake up."

"Or else?" Jungkook teased, rolling over to face the older.

V smiled, remembering the last time this happened. He leaned forward, inches away from the younger's face.

"I'll kiss you." He threatened while smirking.

Jungkook let out a small chuckle before closing the gap between him and his hyung, connecting their lips.

Taehyung pulled away first and helped the maknae out of bed. Jungkook stood up to stretch until he felt warm hands covering his eyes.

"Hyung, what are you doing?" He giggled.

"I have a surprise. Now keep your eyes closed and I'll lead you."

The younger nodded. Taehyung held his hand, leading him outside.

"Okay... Now... OPEN!"

Jungkook opened his eyes and smiled brightly.

"Is this for me?"

V slapped his arm and pouted. "No! It's for me too!"

Jungkook laughed and hugged his boyfriend. "You're stupid. But I still love you."

The two sat down and enjoyed their breakfast overlooking Waikiki beach. They watched surfers catch waves and paddlers paddling in the canoes.

"I'm so excited! I can't wait to surf!" Taehyung cheered.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. "I know, you couldn't stop talking about it during our North Shore cruise. Now you can finally shut up."

The sliding door opened behind them and they turned to see who it was.

"Pancakes!" Jhope exclaimed and ran to their table, stuffing his face with their food.

"Hyung! Go away! I made this for Kookie!" Taehyung scolded, trying to pull his hyung away from devouring all the food.

"Fine." Jhope snatched a blueberry before standing behind Jungkook for protection.

"What do you want Hopie?"

Hoseok swallowed his food and smiled brightly. "Manager hyung said be ready in 30 minutes. He wants to get down there before it gets crowded." He stole another bite of their pancake before walking out.

Taehyung sent Jungkook to the room to get ready before cleaning up the mess around him. After discarding the trash, he got ready too.

"Do we have everything we need?" Jungkook questioned, grabbing his towel and room key.

"Almost." Taehyung walked over to the nightstand and pulled out the shark tooth necklace Jungkook gave him.

"Now I'm ready." He smiled, putting on the necklace. "It's my good luck charm."

"Since when?"

"Since yesterday morning. I wore it to North Shore, when we performed, and when manager hyung told me-" Taehyung paused before smiling at the younger. "Nevermind. Let's just go."

He grabbed their things and walked out, Jungkook following behind. Suga walked out, coated in sunscreen.

"Hyung! Don't you think that's too much?" Taehyung asked.

Suga shook his head. "I'm too white. My skin is precious. It can't be burned."

Jimin laughed. "Hyung. If you lay in the sand, we might loose you!"

"Why you little brat! Aish!"

Suga lifted his hand to hit the other when the manager turned the corner, walking to where they were.

"Put your hand down Yoongi. Cant we have a day where no one fights?" The manager complained.

"Impossible." Suga commented.

"Never." Jimin added.

The boys walked down to Waikiki beach since it was not far from their hotel. The manager talked to the surf instructors behind the surf stand.

They greeted their two surf instructors who were able to speak Korean. Their names were Kai and Nalu.

(A/n: Kai means Sea/Ocean in Hawaiian and Nalu means wave. I used their names to match the setting. Together they're Kainalu, ocean waves // also it's reminds me of EXO Kai ㅋㅋㅋ)

They were taught the basics in surfing. How to paddle, how and when to stand, and where to position themselves.

"You better keep an eye on that one." Jhope whispered to Kai, pointing to Namjoon. "He has a record for breaking everything he touches."

"I can hear you!" Namjoon yelled back.

"You were meant to!"

Kai laughed and nodded. "I'll keep that in mind."

He helped the members carry their boards into the water while Nalu strapped their leashes to their dominant ankle.

Nalu positioned Taehyung onto his board. Jungkook watched carefully and positioned himself. When Nalu swam over to the younger, he was impressed.

"Seems like you got it on your own." Nalu smiled.

"We don't call him the golden maknae for nothing." Taehyung commented.

Nalu squinted his eyes, looking at Taehyung's necklace. "Where'd you get that?"

V looked down. "This?" He asked holding up the shark tooth. "My boyfrie- I mean one of my members gave it to me."

The surf instructor nodded. "It's cool. Sharks are our 'aumakua, meaning our ancestors. Maybe it'll protect you."

Taehyung looked down at the necklace. "I think I'm going to leave it with my manager. I don't want to loose it."

"Make it quick. Kai is taking you and your group out."

V nodded, running out onto the beach and handing it to him. "Hold on to this for me? It's really important."

The manager agreed and put it in his pocket. "Have fun out there kid. And by the way, everything is ready for tonight."

"Great. Thank you so much hyung!" Taehyung thanked, running back into the water.

Nalu took out the first group consisting of Jhope, Namjoon, and Suga.

Kai had the second group consisting of Jin, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook.

The waves were decent beginner level size, small but rideable ranging from 2-3 ft. Farther out, there were bigger sized waves that were about 5 feet.

"Okay guys, were going to be catching the waves over here." Kai said, stopping and watching where the waves break. "It's perfect since it's your first time."

There were many tourists and a few locals out catching waves.

"Okay, who's first?"

"Me me me me me!" Taehyung yelled.

Kai chuckled. "Come here den."

Taehyung paddled over to the surf instructor and Kai faced him towards the shore.

"Here comes a wave. I'm going to give you a small push. When I say 'okay' then paddle with all your might." Kai explained. "Got it?"

V nodded. "Got it."

The wave came and Kai pushed him. "Paddle! Paddle! Paddle!"

Taehyung did as he was told. When he felt the momentum of the board gliding with the wave, he pushed up and stood.

"I'm doing it!" He cheered. He rode the wave all the way until it died out. Taehyung splashed into the water and gave two thumbs up to his members in the distance.

Nalu then pushed Namjoon, but he was positioned too far forward on the board and it caused him to pearl, meaning the tip of the board dove into the water and the back of the board shot up. He fell forward into the water and his legs dangled in the air.

When he came back up for air, his members and people around him were laughing.

"Bruh!" A local man yelled while laughing. "You looked like one crazy man who was drowning!"

This made the members laugh harder and Namjoon paddled back in shame.

"I don't like surfing." He mumbled

"I think I do." Suga gleamed.

While paddling in, V looked up to see Jungkook paddling for his own wave with no assistance.

"You got it Kookie!" He cheered.

Jungkook found the momentum. He pushed off and stood up, swaying his long board along the wave.

The younger stopped along side Taehyung, smiling widely.

"Did you see that hyung? I did it! I caught my own wave!" Jungkook bragged.

V smirked and flipped the younger's board over, causing Jungkook to fall into the water.

"Ya! Hyung! What was that for?" He pouted.

"Just wanted to." He splashed the the maknae and attempted to paddle away.

Jungkook grabbed his hyung's leash, connecting Taehyung to the board, and pulled him back. Jungkook flipped V over and he fell into the water.

"Ya! I'm your hyung!" Taehyung splashed.

"I don't care!" Jungkook splashed back. "By the way, what is it that you're telling us tonight."

"No no Kookie. No spoiler alerts. You just need to wait and find out." He splashed the younger again.

The two played around until Jimin caught his wave and headed for the couple.

"Beep beep! Coming through!"

The two split and Jimin jumped off his board next to them.

"C'mon Jungkook let's go back." Jimin smiled.

"Okay hyung. Let's go Tae!" Jungkook called back while paddling ahead with the other.

Jimin turned back and smirked.

Park Jimin. You just wait, Taehyung thought to himself.

When they got back to the line up, Nalu and his group met up with Kai's group.

"So, what?" Kai asked. "You two dating?" He pointed to Jungkook and Taehyung.

"Of course not." The younger answered blankly.

Taehyung felt a sharp pain in his chest. He knew that their relationship was a secret, but he didn't know why it hurt him so much.

How could Kookie answer so straightforwardly? Is that easy to deny it? Is it because of my illness? Am I thinking too much? All these thoughts ran through Taehyung's mind.

Jungkook noticed his hyung lost in thoughts. It concerned him. He was about to say something else until Nalu broke the silence.

"Okay guys. The waves out there are getting pretty big."

Kai nodded. "This is where we will meet from now on. The waves right here are perfect for you guys, okay? We're just making sure you guys are safe."

The members nodded. Kai and Nalu prepared Jin and Suga to catch their waves.

While waiting, Jungkook talked to Jimin. Taehyung frowned while watching the couple. Jhope noticed and sat on his board alongside Taehyung.

"It hurts me too."

Taehyung jumped in shock, looking to his side and nudging Jhope's shoulder. "Don't scare me Hopie"

Hoseok smirked. "Do you want to make them jealous? It worked last time. Jimin wouldn't talk to me and kept pouting. He's so cute."

V laughed at his hyung's statement. "It's okay Hopie. Jungkook's a little scary when he's jealous. But I trust him, you know?"

Jhope nodded. "If things don't work out, there is always VHope." He winked.

"You need to get off Instagram and stop stalking Army" Taehyung laughed.

"Never! It's so much fun!"

The two joined Jimin and Jungkook's conversation. Jimin told them how he's actually really good at surfing. Him and Kai paddled out earlier while the other members were surfing and caught the bigger waves.

"Jiminie! You're so cool!" Jungkook complemented.

Taehyung rolled his eyes. Please.

Nalu called over Jhope since it was his turn to catch a wave. Jimin paddled alongside Kai and helped Jin, who was having a panick attack. Jin complained how he needs a partner next to him just in case he gets hurt. Jimin agreed to be that person.

Taehyung stayed back with his maknae.

"Hyung! I'm going to catch a wave on my own again, do you want to try?" Jungkook asked.

V shook his head.

"I think I'm going to try the ones out there" he said, pointing to the bigger surf.

"Very funny hyung."

"I'm serious."

Jungkook's eyes widened. "You're not that stupid. Don't do it!"

Taehyung smirked. "Why not? Jimin can do it, why can't I?"

"Is that what it's about? Tae! Jimin knows how to surf! You just learned how today!"

Taehyung's stubbornness didn't budge. He was determined to catch a wave and impress his boyfriend.

He tried to paddle out but the maknae grabbed the back of his board.

"Don't do it Tae! You're going to get hurt!"

"No I'm not! I can do it!"

Before the younger could argue back, Taehyung flipped him over. It gave him enough time to paddle out without the maknae stopping him.

By the time Jungkook resurfaced, wiped his eyes, climbed back onto the board, and looked for his hyung, Taehyung was already over the bigger waves and amongst the experienced surfers.

I have to do something, Jungkook thought.

"Kai! Kai! Help!"

Kai turned to the maknae who was pointing further out. "What's wrong?"

"Taehyung paddled out into the bigger surf!"

Nalu looked back too. They gasped and exchanged concerned looks.

"Why would he do that?" They questioned.

"Because he's a stubborn, jealous idiot!" Jungkook answered furiously. "Please save my boyfriend!"

It then clicked in the surf instructors' minds that the two really were dating. They realized how much danger Taehyung could be in now knowing that his head isn't in the right place. He's doing it out of jealousy, not knowledge.

Kai was the first person to paddle out. He paddled over the waves and searched for Taehyung. Finally, he spotted him.

"Hey! Taehyung, what do you think you're doing?"

V looked over to Kai's direction.

"Don't try to stop me. I know what I'm doing!" He retorted.

"No you don't! Paddle over to me and I'll help you get back safely."

The next set of waves began rolling in. Kai started to panick, realizing that the waves are getting bigger.

"Taehyung! Think about Jungkook! If you get hurt, who's going to look after him?"

V hesitated. He's right, he thought. What the hell am I doing?

"I'm so stupid!" He shouted and scolded himself.

"It's okay! Just hurry up and paddle over to me and you'll be fine!"

Kai was in the clear zone, where the waves are at it's weakest stage and don't break. Taehyung, unfortunately, was in the breaking zone where the waves form.

V paddled with all his might, but it was too late. The first wave came closer to him. There was no time.

Kai saw the wave and warned V. "Taehyung! Paddle towards the shore and catch the wave in! Don't stand up! Just stay on your stomach and ride it in."

Taehyung nodded and did as he was told. When the wave came, he glided with the wave.

Suddenly a local man dropped in and turned towards the younger.

"Go back to where you came from tourist!" He sneered.

Taehyung panicked and jerked his board away from the kolohe (rascal/mischievous) surfer who was coming towards him.

Taehyung lost control over his board and fell into the water. The powerful wave crushed over him with so much force, the pressure of the wave sent him to the bottom of the ocean.

His board was pulled along with the wave, causing Taehyung to be dragged by his leash.

He scraped along the coral until he was able to swim to the top of the water. V popped up and gasped for air. He called out to Kai for help.

The next set of waves rolled in and pummeled into Taehyung once more. The pressure forced him to the bottom of the sea floor, causing him to hit his head on the coral and knock out.

The members sat quietly in the hospital waiting area. Jungkook was pacing back and forth across the room.

"Kookie! Sit down!" Jimin called out.

"I can't! How could you guys stay so calm? What if he's in a coma?" The maknae sobbed. "I should've went with him. It's all my fault."

"It's not your fault Jungkook. You were smart enough to let the instructor know. You did all that you could." Jin embraced Jungkook, letting the younger male cry into his shoulder.

"Let's sit down. You need to save all your energy when we see Taehyung. I'm sure he would want to play as soon as he gets released."

Jungkook giggled and nodded, taking a seat next to the elder.

Kai had saved Taehyung, pulling him out from under the water and onto his board. He detached V's leash, letting the rental board float away.

He paddled Taehyung onto shore and rested him on the beach. Jungkook watched in horror as lifeguards surrounded his hyung's unconscious body and performed CPR.

It worked and Taehyung coughed out the water that filled his lungs. He fainted again and medics came, rushing him to the nearest hospital.

The members followed behind in their van while Jungkook rode with the ambulance, holding tightly onto Taehyung's hand.

Fortunately, there were doctors who were able to speak multiple languages, including Korean. They assured everyone that they will do their best to make sure their member is alive and well.

The manager exited Taehyung's room, walking towards the members.

"How is he?" Jin asked worriedly.

The manager stood in front of the seated members. "He's doing fine. The doctor will be out soon and you will be able to visit him."

They nodded and sat back. exhaling deep sighs of relief.

"I'm glad he's okay. He must have hit his head really hard." Jhope said.

Silence.

"Guys. I need you to listen to me carefully." The manager instructed. "It's about Taehyung."

The members leaned forward to show they're listening. Before the manager could explain, the doctor exited from V's room. Jungkook jumped up and ran over to the lady.

"Is he okay? Please tell me he's okay!" He pleaded.

The lady gave him a warm smile. "He's doing just fine. He has minor scratches, but unfortunately he-"

"What about his head? He has brain cancer you know."

"Jungkook!" The manager yelled.

The lady frowned. "I'm sorry young man. I don't seem to understand what you're saying. Your friend does not have brain cancer."

"What?" Jungkook backed up slowly, trying to process the words he had been told. No brain cancer?

"The doctors and I have done several tests to make sure he's okay, but there hasn't been any result of brain cancer. I think you're mistaken."

Jungkook and the other members turned to their manager confused.

"Hyung. What's going on?" Namjoon questioned.

"That's what I needed to talk to you guys about. Dr. Choi called yesterday and- JUNGKOOK!"

Everyone turned and watched as the maknae ran towards the older's room.

"Young man! There's something you need to know!" The doctor yelled, but it was no use. Jungkook had already entered Taehyung's room, ignoring the others calling out to him.

She turned worriedly to the group behind her. "There's something you must know about Mr. Kim."

The members stood up from their seats and walked towards her.

"What is it?"

Jungkook opened the door and ran into the older's room. Sitting on the hospital bed, was Taehyung. He was eating the food provided to him by the hospital and watching a Korean drama displaying on the tv.

"TaeTae!" The younger yelled, running to his hyung's side. The older turned, watching as the younger ran towards him and held onto him tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay."

Jungkook pulled away, smiling brightly at the older male. His smile began to fade away as V stared blankly at the maknae, blinking several times.

Taehyung examined the boy in front of him, before shaking his head.

"I'm sorry. Who are you?"
