Stalking

The next morning, Kakyoin woke up with an unpleasant feeling. The feeling someone was watching him.

He sat up and scanned the room, seeing nothing. This only made his discomfort worse. The feeling quickly went away as the door to his room opened, Dr. Hashi stepping in cautiously and quietly.

"Oh, you're awake?"

Kakyoin was confused. "Yeah, why?"

"Kakyoin, it's 4 in the morning," she chuckled a little nervously. The nightly medicine they put in his IV was supposed to keep him asleep until they stopped the flow of the medicine into his bloodstream. And Kakyoin knew this as well. "did I forget or not put it in correctly?" she examined the tubes to see the night medicine tube had fallen out, pouring into a small puddle on the floor.

"Oh! Dear me, I must've had it a little loose." she bent down and stopped the medicine. "Do you want the medicine again or do you think you can sleep a little more?"

"I think I'll make it," Kakyoin smiled. "sorry for the trouble."

"Don't apologize Kakyoin, we've been over this. I'm a doctor, I've seen all the injuries and all the patients, don't tell anyone I said this, but you're personally my favorite," she whispered the last part jokingly.

Kakyoin blushed as he scratched the back of his neck, he didn't really know how to respond to compliments. "Heh..."

"Okay, I'll let you be now. As you know, press the button if you need anything."

Dr. Hashi left the room, the dark enveloping Kakyoin again. He closed his eyes, rolling on his side, being careful not to tug at the IV, and hoped to rest peacefully on his own.

But strangely enough, the uncomfortable feeling of someone watching him returned. He shuddered, hoping to shrug it off or ignore it. But it was not that easy.

Kakyoin flinched as he felt a small pinch on his arm where the IV was located. He opened his eyes and studied it. He shook it off, assuming he must've tugged on it accidentally. He changed positions and laid on his back in order to avoid tugging at his IV again. He closed his eyes once more and seemed to forget about the feeling of eyes trained on him.

Dr. Hashi was sitting in her office, typing in patient's records and whatnot. She has worked with the Speedwagon Foundation for some time now and had the most experience there with abnormal patients and injuries. She thought she knew everything about stands and stand injuries. But after she heard Kakyoin's stories, boy was she wrong. She decided to start working late almost daily, researching and learning and just taking care of people. She loved her job and everyone there.

After a while, the Speedwagon Foundation offered her a dorm room of some sort in the hospital that she could move into and stay the night whenever she pleased. She started spending most of her time there and was seen as weird by normal onlookers who had no knowledge of stands or the work they did. But with other employees of the foundation, she was highly respected and admired by many.

After Kakyoin's first visit, all the Crusaders were offered high-level jobs in the foundation for their experience. Polnareff said he'd think about it, Joseph kindly declined, and Jotaro... She didn't send Jotaro an offer. He was still in school and a little too young for a job like the Speedwagon Foundation. She knows he's more than capable of handling it, but it can become stressful and she didn't want to do that to Jotaro. Like she's said before, her main goal was setting them up by the time Kakyoin is discharged.

Dr. Hashi hummed a jolly tune as she jumped up from her chair and started to rearrange some files and place some new ones here and there. She had gotten some sleep earlier and was already prepared for the oncoming day. She closed the file drawer and started to place some notes in Kakyoin's files. She worked in a normal hospital, but there was a special block of the hospital specifically for the Speedwagon Foundation. That's where they would cater to stand injuries or people having trouble with a stand similar to Holly's condition a while back.

She kept a log for Kakyoin daily now, writing down everything that happened. Speedwagon Foundation employees were meant to do this in case of an investigation or something like that. Kakyoin is a very special patient, as he has been through many things on his adventure. If someone were to go after him, this would be important for clues and such.

She just finished typing it up and was about to hit enter, when a pained scream echoed through the halls. She flinched. It was not a female scream, as all her patients were female. Except one.

Kakyoin.

She rushed out of her room, sprinting down the blinding white hall down to the room she knew best. Patients and nurses were stepping out of rooms and offices, concerned and confused about the scream.

Dr. Hashi burst through Kakyoin's room, switching on the light. Her eyes widened in horror. Nurses piled up behind her for assistance.

"Call the Kujo boy and me the stitching pack!!" she yelled at them as they started to scurry separate ways.

Kakyoin's IV had been ripped out of his arm brutally, a huge deep gash through his arm as it had been ripped at an angle. Kakyoin held his bleeding arm with his eyes shut tight, the pain was excruciating. He wasn't on any numbing medicine either, meaning there was no delay for any pain. She rushed towards him, grabbing a damp towel and placing it on the wound.

"Kakyoin! Can you hear me?! What happened!?" she was sure this wound cut the veins in his arm pretty bad.

"I-I don't know!" Kakyoin was just as confused and scared as she was.

"Did you tug on it too hard?" she asked hurriedly.

"No! I was sleeping! I-I don't know how!" his breathing elevated and his heartbeat increased. He saw a glint of light in the corner of his eye. He looked towards the window where it came from, but whatever was there quickly disappeared. He felt a sharp pain shoot through his arm. He opened his mouth to scream, but nothing came out. He arched his back as his fingers curled. He felt like his entire body was on fire.

"What the hell do you want this early in the morning?" a grumpy and horse grumbled.

"Is this Jotaro Kujo?" the nurse said hurriedly.

"Yes. Who is this?"

"This is the Speedwagon Foundation hospital. I was ordered to call you by Dr. Hashimoto."

There was a pause. "Yes? What happened? Why are you calling me?"

"Yes, I'm calling you in regards to Mr. Noriaki. He was injured-"

"How!? What the hell did you guys let happen!?" Jotaro grew angry and frustrated.

"Sir, please-"

"WHAT HAPPENED!?!"

"We don't know! We're not sure exactly what happened. It looks like his IV was ripped out of his arm. Dr. Hashimoto can give you more information, I was just told to get you over here."

Jotaro huffed, and some rustling was heard. "I'm on my way."

The line cut off and the nurse put the phone down with a shaky hand. Even over the phone, Jotaro was scary.

Not less than five minutes later, Jotaro burst through the door, storming past the nurses to Kakyoin's room. He walked in on Dr. Hashi stitching the arm of a knocked out Kakyoin. He rushed over to the bedside, trying to keep a calm and stoic exterior as usual. But it was very hard in this situation.

"What happened?" he asked as a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead.

"I'm not too sure," she replied, her tone serious. "I was in my office when I heard a scream. I knew it was him because all of my patients are female except him. His IV was most likely ripped out of his arm at an angle that sliced through his arm. He fainted a little before you arrived."

"Did he tug on it too hard on accident?" he suggested.

"That's what I thought. But the wound is too big and deep for it to be a tug. Someone purposely pulled his IV out. Or... he did."

Jotaro growled lowly. He didn't even want to think of that possibility. It didn't sound like something Kakyoin would do. Or at least he hoped it didn't.

Dr. Hashi finished the stitches and wrapped Kakyoin's arm in bandages. "I'll go talk to the other doctors and nurses about what we should do about his IV. If we put it back in his other arm, the same thing could happen, if we don't, well, you know what could happen."

Jotaro stopped her before she could leave. "So, let me get this straight, are we just going to ignore the fact that he just got his IV torn out of his arm and won't even try to think of why?"

"We'll get to that. I need to discuss his health first. That's why I needed you over here, keep him safe until I come back." she shoved past him and left. Jotaro huffed and plopped himself back into a chair. She popped her head back in briefly, "Also, Kakyoin's parents got word and are coming over later today. Don't know how they're gonna like you so just saying!" she quickly left again.

Jotaro grumbled. He knew once Kakyoin's parents got in contact with him, they would not be happy.

"Report on the Kakyoin boy." Through the darkness of the bushes, as the sun started to rise, the silver glint of a phone was seen once again.

"Kujo's watching him, the doctor's out of the room at the moment," the figure growled.

"Damn. If only she didn't call that Jotaro guy, Kakyoin would be dead by now!" over the line, objects clattering were heard.

"Do you want me to take care of him?"

"No. Let it play out. We must take our time if we want to get away with it, you hear me? Do not take action."

"Hmph, fine."

The line cut off as the conversation ended. But through the shadows of the shrubs, a pair of hands were seen.

And their fingers were crossed.

Jotaro sat in the chair, watching Kakyoin as his chest rose and fell faintly. His heart ached every time he saw Kakyoin in this state. This feeling was strange and foreign to him. He wasn't used to feeling it. He didn't want to feel it.

But at the same time, he loved it.

Every time it happened, he felt a desire to be closer to Kakyoin. The want to hold him in his arms and care for him. The need for affection and comfort from him.

Jotaro had always thought this feeling was weird, ever since he felt it in Egypt. But that's when he didn't know what it was. He finally put the pieces together and embraced the feeling. That's when he realized how much he liked Kakyoin.

How much he loved Kakyoin.

But what if Kakyoin didn't feel the same way? How would he tell other people about it? How would his mother react? He didn't show it, but he cared deeply for his mother. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to fight DIO in the first place.

Jotaro drifted in his thoughts about Kakoyin but was interrupted when he saw something out the window. Whatever he saw disappeared as quickly as it came. He stood up, walking over to the window.

It was open.

He leaned his head out and looked around. Nothing but bushes and the faint light from the approaching sunrise. Jotaro scowled and was about to investigate more, but his phone began to ring.

He was given a phone by Joseph shortly after they arrived back in Japan, for as what Joseph says, 'safety reasons'.

He hadn't saved any numbers, so no name showed up for the caller. "Hello?"

"Jojo!? Are you okay!? I saw you rushing out of the house and didn't respond when I called for you! Is everything all right!?"

Jotaro sighed at his mother's oh so familiar concerned voice. "I'm fine. I got a call from the hospital about Kakyoin so I'm in his room."

"Is he okay? Can you put him on the phone? I wanna make sure he's alright.

"Calm down woman. I'm not sure he's okay he- nevermind. It's hard to explain. He's passed out right now."

"What if I visit him tomorrow?"

"Not the best idea. His parents are coming to visit him."

"Why isn't it a good idea? I could meet his parents and chat a bit, get to know them."

"Really? Didn't Polnareff explain anything to you? Their son basically died. I don't think they're gonna be too fond of us."

"Oh..." Holly paused. "Yeah, you do have a point there. Are you going to stay?"

"Yeah. Might as well deal with them and at least try to explain that it's not our fault."

"That's a nice plan sweetie. You're always god at these things." Holly sang.

"Shut up..." Jotaro muttered, a light shade of pink dusting his cheeks. "It's still early, go back to bed."

"Okay! Love you Jotaro!"

"Love you too..."
