Kai left Joy's home after tidying up for her. It was his token of appreciation.

Later that night, he returned to Hall's office. "There were others following me. I believe they are also looking for Joy. We should eliminate them first."

Hall was angered. "No, I will deal with them. For now I am modifying your mission. While my informant- Anyways, you'll need these. He pulls out a stack of documents and various forms of ID. "Winter is doing a mass hiring of employees to increase security. You will work as a security guard at Winter under the alias Edan Hunt. I want you to stay close to her. Do whatever it takes to gain her trust. "

"Yes sir."

As Kai left, Hall saw his arm wrapped in bandages. "Did you go to our hospital?"

"No."

"Good, we can't have you on record."

Back at Winter Hospital, an angry man was yelling at Joy. Lily and Nick stood next to her and tried to calm him down, but to no avail.

"You ran six different tests for my daughter and you still can't tell me what's wrong! And now you just give up on us? My daughter is dying! You're killing my daughter!"

"I'm sorry sir, we are doing our best. I have definitely not given up on you"

"Liar! You useless-" The man raised his hand to slap Joy.

Joy braced herself an closed her eyes. However, someone grabbed her from behind and spun her into his arms. She used her hands to brace for impact, and they land on a rock hard build. 

She cautiously opened her eyes and looked up; it's Kai, and he was dressed in a navy security uniform. Above her she sees his thick and muscular arm grabbing onto the man's wrist, stopping him from hitting her. She blushed and tried to escape by pushing him back, but he held her even tighter.

Kai's sharp gaze pierces into the eyes of the man, and the man flinches.

"Can I help you?" Kai released the man, and he shook his arm off. He glared at Joy and was about to scold her again. However, he froze out of fear. He didn't know where it's coming from, but he could sense a intimidating pressure. He closed his mouth and left. As he walked away, he looked back at Joy and said, "I won't forget this. You were lucky this time. Mark my words, I'll be back."

Kai's grip on Joy loosened and she takes advantage of the moment and to squeezed her way out. She ran back to Lily and grabbed onto her arm.

Lily looked up and down at Kai, and then turns to Joy, "Who's that good looking security guy, Joy? Do you know him?"

"Shh!" Joy slapped her hand over Lily's mouth to prevent her from embarrassing her any further. "Don't say that so loud."

Lily, in a muffled voice, made out the word "Ok" and nodded her head.

Joy let her hand down and brushed it on her lab coat. Pretending like that didn't just happen, she gestured her hands towards Kai and says, "Oh right, his name is, um-" Joy paused in confusion. "Um, his name is- wait, what was his name?"

"Edan" He said as he walked closer towards Joy. "Are you alright?" he asked while he put his hand on the side of her head.

"Yeah," Joy replied, blushing and turning her head to the side. "I'm ok."

Lily looked at the two, smirked, and pulled on Nick's sleeve, urging him to follow her. "We should get going. I think those two love birds have some catching up to do."

"What?" Joy said as she jerked her head to the side. She reached her hand out towards Lily, but just barely missed her sleeve. "Wait!"

Lily winked and gave her a thumbs up. She slowly turned back to Edan and said, "I didn't know you worked here. Oh, where did you go yesterday? Did your wounds heal?"

"I'm ok now. I was lucky to be saved by a beautiful woman such as yourself." Edan picked up a small section of her hair and kissed it. "I am in your debt." His words were sweet, but his eyes were empty and cold. Something doesn't match, but Joy was too distracted to notice.

Joy blushed and pushed him away. "Oh, would you look at the time! I need to go back to work now." Joy laughs nervously and she thinks to herself, "Thanks for that line, Lily."

Just as Joy turned to leave, Edan grabbed her wrist and spun her around.

"Wait!"

"Y-yes?"

"Would you like to have lunch together?"

"Oh, um, sure! I'll be in the cafeteria at the table closest to the window. I'll see you at twelve?"

"I'll see you there." Edan said as Joy left. "Step one complete."

Joy ran back towards the lab, where Lily and Nick had just arrived. A tech support walked out and pulled down his hat. He nodded to greet Lily and Nick.

"Thank you for your work!" said Lily as she waves goodbye. She opened the door and turns her head towards Nick. "Why do I feel a strom brewing?"

Almost immediately, Joy ran up behind the two, grabbed onto their ears, dragged them to their desks and forcefully sat them down. "Lily! What were you trying to pull? And Nick! How could you just leave like that too?"

Lily and Nick winced in pain. "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!"

Nick cried, "I'm sorry Joy! Lily made me!"

"I'm sorry! Let's talk it out ok? Please let go!" Lily also cried.

Joy squeezed harder, but soon managed to calm down. She let go of them, and they both looked like their earlobes were put over a bunsen burner.

"Oh my gosh that was so embarrassing." said Joy and her face turned red. "How could you just call us 'love birds' like that?"

"Well, clearly you guys had a connection. I could feel the chemistry. Sort of like love at first sight! Right, Nick?"

Nick was hesitant to reply, since Joy was glaring at him with fire in her eyes. "Y-yeah!"

But as soon as Joy got fired up, her energy is extinguished by her watering eyes. "Ugh, now I'm thinking about Brandon again." She murmured as she covered her face with her hands.

Lily and Nick looked at each other in silence and regretted what they said.

"Oh!" said Lily, trying to get Joy's mind off of her ex-boyfriend. "Look, we had a couple more tests sent in. I think they're from the daughter of that guy that was yelling at you earlier. I think he's the real problem we should be thinking about. Brandon isn't even worth hating."

Joy, still hiding her face, replied is a sad tone, "Katie Owen right? I'll get to it in a sec."

"Ok, I'll get you the records" said Lily, as she scanned their computers for the files. She scrolled, and typed, and scrolled some more. She turned her head to the side in confusion and said, "Joy, something's wrong."

"Hm?"

"I can't access any of her health records. They're all blocked."

Joy popped her head up and yelled, "What?" That's impossible!"

She walked over to the computer. Sure enough, Katie's, and several other patients' records have been blocked. That meant all the test results and notes couldn't be accessed.

Nick joined them, and said, "Only the doctors can delete records, but this rarely happens. So it's suspicious for so many to be restricted in such a short period of time." Nick takes the mouse and opens many files. "Even our research is compromised. It could have been a hacker. I think our technology is pretty advanced already, so it's possible that someone was working against us from the inside. Possibly a virus? "

Lily pat Nick's head. "Good boy! You're finally useful!"

Somehow, you could almost see Nick wagging his tail. Nick turned to Joy and says "Anyways, we should notify the higher ups and let them handle it."

"Yeah, Nick's right, Joy." Lily agreed.

Joy said "Ok, I'll go. See you in a bit!"

When 1:00 pm hits, Joy still wasn't back, so Lily and Nick went to the cafeteria without her.

"I'm scared," Nick told Lily as they sat down at their lunch table. "This hospital is probably going to get a lot of complaints when the patients find out. Their insurance will also be a mess."

"Me too. I hope we don't see an uprising of people like Mr. Owen." Lily said as she bit into her burger.

"Also, where do you think Joy went? It shouldn't take this long to notify the higher ups." says Nick as he sips on his apple juice.

"Maybe she got side tracked with the hot security guard haha. What was his name again? Edan?"

Edan walked up from behind them. "Did you need something from me?"
