Travel Back
Chapter 12
*Nichole*
Who did it? was the question that stuck in my head.
Oneye held onto me as we walked back to the valley, many questions swarmed my head. Who was it? Why did he or she do it? It boggled my mind. It scared me.
Oneye held my arms as we walked, and finally he spoke. "You're okay right?"
"Of course I am." I said as I got a firm grip on his arm. To be honest, I wasn't that great, but what could I say, I'm not worrying him. At least not yet.
He would stare into my eyes, and I'd stare back, and all I hoped was that I wasn't staring too much. I could see the valley coming up, and I started to go a bit faster. It seemed like it was miles away, but the strange thing was, I thought it would take hours to get to one spot, yet in reality, I was already there. It was strange, it seemed as though nothing was close to me, nothing. No one, no thing. That seemed to be stuck in my brain, it was the only thing I couldn't get rid of.
I felt as if I was going to stumble soon, luckily I didn't. As I started to get closer, I tried to let go of him, but he grabbed me back. I knew better to, but before I knew it, I'd already let go.
I started out slowly, but I kept going. Before I knew it, I was there. Back home.
I walked into the valley, with each step I took, I felt better and better. I breathed in the fresh air. Yet there was something nagging at the back of my mind. Who did it? Was the constant question being asked. Not only that but why?
I walked and I noticed a house, what would that be doing there? I thought as I turned to Oneye.
"Do you know why there is a house over there?" I asked him.
"Actually yes I do." He replied sheepishly.
I was taken aback when I heard this, he knew? I decided to save it for later. Right now, I was going to explore.
I looked into the house, a dirty, old fashioned one it was. With brown walls, and a brown roof. I walked through the door and breathed in the air here. It smelled of old wood, and must. There were picture frames of familiar people, but I just couldn't seem to figure out who it was.
I saw boxes of things labeled Nic's stuff. Must have been a nick name, but who was I to know? I saw another box, labeled Kara's Stuff. Then one labeled Toby's Stuff. Then one more, Chloe's stuff.
It was probably a coincidence that the boxes had the names of my relatives right? Right??? I guess not. I continued to walk through the house. I went up the creaky stairs and to a bedroom. It seemed as though people were still living here, even though there wasn't anyone in the house. As I walked into a room, I noticed a name plaque on the bed. It said "Nichole J." That was me. I was stunned, no way was this happening. I moved on thinking it was a complete coinkie dink.
I passed another room with the letters KJ & TJ on it. That couldn't have been for Kara Johnson or Jackson could it? And Toby Jackson? No couldn't be. I feared that I was in the past, but I knew that isn't possible. Is it?
I walked pass 2 more rooms, one had nothing in it. The other, had the initials CJ on it. Chloe Johnson? I hope not. I do want to meet my family, but just that nagging feeling told me not to want it.
I walked back downstairs, when I finally realized Oneye hadn't followed me, neither did Koda. They were sitting in the living room, facing an older lady. Someone else was here.
I was staring at the back of the old lady's head, with graying hairs, and curled hair. I hadn't known there were people, but she seemed to be ok and calm, but I couldn't look. I slowly walked back, and I accidently stepped on a creaky board. It let out a shrill creak, which made Oneye turn to see me, and the lady turn around to look at me.
She smiled. "This is great! You're here." She said to me.
I feared that she would talk, but I spoke to her anyways. "Yes ma'am?" I said quietly. Koda walked to me slowly and rubbed my leg with his paw, trying to calm me down, but my heart raced so fast, I couldn't stop it. I sat in one of the chairs near by and watched. Finally she said something.
"I'm you're grandmother, don't you remember me hon?" She asked me quietly.
"Na--no. Sorry." I said as I hung my head.
I felt a cold hand around my arm, and two more on my shoulders. Who was it this time?
