Run Along, Jellal

Lahar's P.O.V

I sat in the passenger seat of a magic mobile my fellow comrade was driving. This is getting redundant. I'm getting quite tiresome of chasing Jellal around the kingdom of Fiore, and I'm surprised he hasn't realized the council's ruling. Does anyone really think that that the magic council would seriously let a fugitive run around the nation for over seven years now? Jellal is good, but he isn't that good. In fact, he's hardly a concern.

I looked down at the ground passing beneath my feet and scoffed. He's much more of a prisoner in the free world than he is being held captive.

'A prisoner to one's own mind,' I thought contently. I may not be able to see it every day, but Jellal is paying for his crimes. He's absolutely miserable no matter where we put him. So as long as he keeps on disbanding dark guilds and atoning for his sins, there's no reason for us to interfere.

However, when a local calls in a sighting of him or Meredy, we always have to jump on the case as if it mattered. It's annoying. Especially since I had plans tonight, for the first time in months. Hopefully I'll still be able to make the reservation time; I'd hate to let her down.

Jellal, I swear, if today of all days is the day you decide to do something stupid, I'll end you. I don't have time for you these days.

I sighed, looking up at the buildings we were now passing in the streets of Shirotsume.

Today might be different, though. I heard in the report that he was with Erza Scarlet. It was more than obvious that the two of them had a bond, regardless of the terrible things he'd put her through. I frowned, thinking of the off chance a person like Jellal may have a heart. Knowing the kind of person Erza is, though, should be evidence enough that Jellal is on a good path. I'm sure if Jellal even thought about making one bad move, Scarlet would take no time in setting him straight. He's in good hands.

If we catch him, he'll go right back to sitting in a cell, throwing his life away. At least in the field, he can do something with the life he has left. He uses his time to help those around him. I'm more fond of him than most criminals, I suppose.

We haven't seen Jellal yet, but there's figures running in the distance. They appear to be two females, though. Is that...? Scarlet hair? That's Erza alright.

Their speed is remarkable, they seem to be outrunning our magic mobiles at their fastest abilities. I thought of all the ways they could pull something like this off. First of all, it must be speed magic. However, Meredy uses sensory magic and Erza uses requip magic. Have one of them taken up a secondary magic? I would've guessed speed perception magic, but that magic wouldn't apply to the council's magic mobiles. Assuming they haven't taken the obvious route and are still using their primary magic, what could they do to improve their speed using what they have?

Ah, yes.

Impressive, girls.

So Erza requipted into a speed specialty armor and Meredy synced herself with it's abilities by using her sensory link. I've never seen it done successfully before. They must have practiced it beforehand, there's no way they could use that level of magic on their first try. Although, all the members in their party are known to be ideally skilled wizards. I wouldn't be surprised.

Speaking of which, here's Erza and Meredy. But where's Jellal?

Jellal's P.O.V

It appears I was going even faster than I thought. I had stopped running and turned behind me to see Erza and Meredy running hand in hand nearly a mile behind me. Well, the magic council was still at the entrance of the town, which was far behind the girls. It looks like we'll be just fine if we keep this up. I'm the magic councils number one target though, I can't afford to be caught. Especially for Erza's sake.

I made a promise.

With that in mind, I turned back to the southern mountains coming into view now. 'Run along, Erza. I'm getting lonely up here.'  I told her silently.

'Don't be so cocky, I'll race you any other time. What's the plan so far?'  She replied affirmatively.

'A race? I'll take you up on that offer. And trust me, just follow me into the mountains and we'll regroup once we're there.'

'What's in the mountains?'

'I told you to trust me. Can you, Erza?'

'Of course. We'll meet you there.'

'And hurry up, will ya Erz'? I need you to follow me, I don't want you to loose sight of me.'

'Was my four letter name too much for you? And you just wait Jellal, when we meet in the mountains- You better expect the beating of a lifetime!'

'That sounds exciting, should I make an eight course meal while I wait?'

'KEEP TALKING JELLAL, I DON'T WANNA FORGET HOW YOUR VOICE SOUNDS AFTER I KILL YOU.'

'Don't wanna forget it, eh? I'm not worried, you can't kill me.'

'Wanna bet?'

'Certainly. You love me, don't you, Erza? You couldn't kill me!'

There was a long silence.

'Erza?'

Silence.

Oh god what did I get myself into. I meant to smack talk her so she'd be more enthusiastic to run, but now I think I've gone to far. I think Erza is actually going to kill me!

'You're damn right I'm going to kill you. And practice separating your thoughts from your telepathy. It's sloppy.'

'I'm sowwy, Erza'  I said in a childish-begging way.

'Shut up'

'I love you, Erzy'

'Shut up'

'I miss you, Erzy-Werzy'

'SHUT UP'

'Are you going to beat me up even more after calling you that?'

'Yes.'

'Damn.'

I smirked, regardless of my impending death. I gave a glance behind me once more to see Erza and Meredy only a couple hundred yards away. Erza looked pissed, and was more or less dragging Meredy along as she sprinted towards me. My smirk quickly dropped as I screamed in fright and started running away from her. Is this how it feels to be Natsu and Gray!? This is terrible, I don't want to see this side of Erza ever again!

"I'M SORRY I'LL BUY YOU ALL THE CAKE AND FLOWERS AND PUPPIES  AND ANYTHING THAT MAKES  YOU HAPPY THAT YOU WANT JUST PLEASE DON'T HURT ME I STILL HAVE THINGS TO DO IN THIS LIFE I'M SO SORRY ERZA!!!" I shouted as I ran as fast as I could, not wanting to be within arm's length of her.

"RUN ALONG, JELLAL!" She yelled, quoting me, her voice darker than usual.

I screamed again in terror as I ran even faster. The mountains were already coming up right ahead now. I honestly considered running past the mountains and to the end of the world if it meant I wouldn't have to face Erza!
