A Shot at Happiness
Meredy's P.O.V
I enjoyed having Erza in our group. Jellal seemed more like himself whenever she was around. He talked about her every so often, and I could tell she was on his mind a lot. I honestly hope from deep inside of me that Jellal can find it in himself to accept her forgiveness and be happy with her some day. He deserves it, for everything he's done not only for me, but for Ultear as well.
My pink hair, tied swiftly in a high ponytail, swayed back and fourth as we walked down the narrow cobblestone paths of this town. Erza and Jellal walked side by side, as I followed behind. I watched them talk back and fourth with an unmistakable fondness in their eyes. They deserve each other.
It's obvious that Erza has deep feelings for Jellal. Almost as obvious as Jellal's feelings for her. They've never given up on each other, not even once. There's no doubt about it, Erza and Jellal were born to be together.
I couldn't help but smile as I thought about how cute they would be together. I've only ever seen Jellal happy a few times, but I'd imagine he'd be happy a lot more if he had Erza to go home to.
We reached the hotel and stepped inside. The tiny building smelled of cedar wood and fresh-cut flowers. In the scrawny lobby, there was a worn-in couch and fire place off to the side.
We all stepped up to the counter to ask for three rooms with twin beds.
"Hello, three twin bed rooms please," Erza asked the elderly man behind the counter.
"I'm sorry deary, we only have two rooms left. One room with a queen bed, and one with a twin bed," The man told her. After seeing her face of worry, he continued, "How about I only charge you for two twin rooms? Will that make you smile, sweetie?"
"It's okay, Erza," Jellal stated, "You and Meredy can take the queen. I'll take the twin,"
'Jellal!' I shouted in my head. This guy is seriously the worst at making moves. I want him to be happy. Genuinely happy. And I know that Erza had the ability to do that for him in a heartbeat.
There have been times when I've woken up in the middle of the night to see him standing at the window, just staring at the night sky above. One time not too long ago, I could've sworn I saw a tear roll down his face. Although, it might've been a dream because when I asked him about it the next morning, he said he didn't know what I was talking about.
The sadness inside of him is slowly eating him away.. And it tears me apart to watch him self-destruct most of the time... I'm his friend. And I've watched this side of him grow like a sickly disease for a long time now.
This is my chance to give him some form of happiness, I suppose.
"Actually!" I said in a bright voice, "I'm so much of a kicker when I sleep, I'd probably beat poor Erza up all night," I saw Jellal's eyes widen a bit as he realized what I was doing, "Do you mind if I take the twin? I wouldn't want to make you loose sleep before a job as strenuous as this one."
Jellal stared back at me with a look of disbelief and shook his head slowly, mentally begging me to take it back. I smiled at him and gave a subtle nod, intending that he was going to have to follow along.
"That shouldn't be a problem, right Jellal?" Erza inquired confidently.
I swear, I've never seen Jellal so red in my entire life.
"N-none at all" He said nervously.
I giggled at the sight of him acting like a teenage boy with a crush. Watching the outcome of this situation should be interestingly entertaining.
