Chapter Eight.
Elvis stepped through the front door; half-breeds can't feel nervous but there was something inside of Elvis that made him feel nervous.
Colonel Tom had stayed quiet during the walk to Lila's house while exhaustion was starting to hit Harry.
It was as if Elvis knew the way, he lead the everyone to Lila's room. "Stop" he called out to the room as he opened the bedroom door, the room forced itself not to react as it didn't move.
Elvis stepped over to the cupboard, he pushed Lila's clothes out of the way. He tossed a glance over at Lila.
"Lila?" There was something in Elvis' voice that showed a sign of worry.
"Gullsea..." Lila couldn't find her words as she looked at Elvis.
"I walk through that door..." Elvis couldn't find the words for his sentence either.
Lila didn't react as she noticed something about Elvis wasn't right, Colonel Tom could see it too.
Half-breeds don't feel emotions, yet Elvis was feeling a surge of what seemed like emotions.
Harry yawned as he pretended to understand what was going on.
No one had a chance to triple knock, the back panel of the cupboard slid open.
Maverick stood proudly in its spot, Maverick looked up at Elvis than at Colonel Tom before shifting it's glance to Lila and Harry than returning their gaze to Elvis. Welcome home, Gullsea. Maverick signed.
Elvis hid his fear behind his smile before signing Hello, old friend.
Maverick lead the four of them through the dark, a crack of soft light appeared. The five of them stepped through.
Harry felt himself tense up as he struggled to prepare himself for the travel down.
Colonel Tom stood still with Maverick by his side.
The soft light disappeared.
Lila felt Elvis put his hand in her's. She looked down at their hands but didn't say anything.
Harry didn't scream as they travelled down, he kept his body tensed.
The soft light appeared.
Harry opened his eyes as he looked out at the room full of half breeds.
Colonel Tom stepped out first, Harry followed behind, Lila and Elvis walked hand in hand out.
No one said a word, they just stared.
The half breeds covered their face as a loud bang of a door swung open, they heard the loud footsteps rush towards them.
Harry swallowed hard.
The half breeds lowered their head as they kept their hands over their face.
Colonel Tom, Elvis and Lila didn't react as they watched a giant shadow swept over the open room.
Everyone stayed silent, not even Maverick left the soft light he stood in.
Boss stopped in front of the small crowd of half-breeds, Boss looked up at Colonel Tom.
Colonel Tom remained straight face as he looked down at Boss, Boss scowled. Colonel Tom felt like a child who had just been reprimanded by their parent, he lowered his gaze to the plain covered floor.
Boss turned their attention to Lila and Elvis, noticed their hands before returning their gaze to Lila and Elvis. Boss began to use his hands to spell out his sentence. Thank you for bringing Elvis home.
Lila nodded in silence.
Elvis kept his hand in Lila's, feeling Lila trying to move her hand away.
The half breeds moved their hands away from their face as they lifted up their head and watched the interaction.
Boss didn't say anything else, they turned their back and walked back down to their office.
The half breeds lowered their head and placed their hands over their faces again as Boss' footsteps echoed down on the floor.
Elvis took a step forward; he felt the tug of his hand. He turned his attention to Lila; she had tightened her grip on his hand not wanting to let go of him. He stepped back, kissed her cheek before whispering "It's okay." He turned his back on her as he took a step forward, he felt Lila's grip tighten.
Elvis carefully yet slowly tried to pull his hand out of her grip before following the straight line down to Boss' office.
The half breeds looked up and watched as Elvis' steps didn't bang against the floor.
Everyone watched as Elvis closed the door behind him.
It was as if time had stopped, any movements made were done incredibly slowly. The blink of eyes moved steadily, the chest rising from breathing looked as if they weren't moving.
Everyone just stood and watched the closed door as their movements felt sloth-like.
Boss' door opened, there was no loud bang as the door was pushed open.
Boss stood proudly in the middle of the doorway as they looked out at the half-breeds, Colonel Tom, Harry and Lila.
"Elvis has left the building." Boss' booming voice rippled as movements returned to normal.
Colonel Tom returned back to his green stature as his clothes buried around him.
Harry dropped his gaze to RaL, watching as RaL removed his Colonel Tom clothes before walking freely away from Harry and Lila.
Lila and Harry turned their back, they followed Maverick into the soft light.
