At Night

Abhi came to his house and falls on the sofa tiredly. Losing his tie, he took his phone and saw Pragya's message.

P: Reached home?

Abhi's lips curved to a smile, seeing her message.

A: Yes.

P: Shall we go for an outing? To eat kulfi?

A: Now?

P: Yes.

Abhi chuckled, reading it.

A: Will get ready and come.

P: I'm waiting.

Abhi lifts his head and was startled, seeing his father, standing in front of him with his hands tied on his chest.

Abhi: Why are you looking at me like that papa?

Neil: Who is that girl?

Neil asked in a stern tone and Abhi was shocked, hearing it.

Abhi: What do you mean?

Neil: I know that you are in love. Tell me, who is the girl.

Abhi gave a nervous smile. He felt like a ten-year kid who got caught by his father.

Neil: Tell me.

Abhi: It's Pragya.

Abhi said nervous and looked at Neil's face.

Neil: I'm disappointed in you Abhi.

Abhi was taken aback, hearing it.

Neil: I thought that I would be the first one you share this news with. But everyone knows about this except me. This is not fair.

Neil said, faking anger and Abhi left a relief breath, hearing him.

Abhi: You startled me, papa.

Neil: Anyways...

Neil sat beside Abhi and pats his back.

Neil: Pragya is a very good girl. Her family is also a good family. I'm really happy for you.

Abhi smiled, feeling blessed.

Neil: I know already that you both are together.

Abhi was shocked, hearing it.

Abhi: How?

Neil: I have seen many times Pragya sneaking out of our house and you sneaking out. Do you think that I wouldn't find out if my son is dating someone?

Neil said and Abhi gave a blushy smile.

Abhi: I have never thought that I would fall in love with someone papa. But after meeting Pragya, everything changed.

Neil: It happens. When we find our true soulmate, our world would change. We would change for the better. That's the power of true love.

Neil said emotionally, remembering Ragini.

Abhi: Papa, there is something that you want to know.

Neil: What?

Abhi: I want to marry Pragya.

Neil was surprised, hearing it.

Neil: That's fantastic. Let's go and talk to her parents. Tell me, when can we go?

Abhi: Tomorrow.

Neil: Tomorrow?

Neil asked shocked.

Abhi: I can't wait to marry her.

Neil gave a teasing look and Abhi smiles shyly.

Neil: Okay, let's go tomorrow.

Pragya was waiting for Abhi to come. Pragya was startled when Abhi suddenly hugged her from back and gave a deep kiss on her cheek.

Pragya: Abhi, you are scared me.

Breaking the hug, Pragya hits Abhi playfully.

Abhi: Ouch, that hurts.

Pragya: You are behaving shamelessly.

Abhi smiles cheekily.

Pragya: You are looking happy.

Abhi: Yes, I'm.

Pragya: And why is that?

Abhi: A few months before, I met a beautiful and crazy girl in my life. And I fell madly in love with her.

Pragya gave a blushy smile, hearing it.

Abhi: Today, I proposed to her for marriage and she accepted it. So, I'm too happy.

Abhi said, cupping her face, kissing her forehead deeply. Pragya giggles with a blush on her face.

Pragya: Okay, control yourself. We are outside. Let's order.

Pragya said and went to the shop and Abhi grinned.

After buying ice cream for each, both Abhi and Pragya sat in the car, eating kulfi. Abhi was licking the ice cream, whereas Pragya was looking at him suspiciously.

Pragya: Something is running on your mind. What is it?

Abhi: What do you mean?

Pragya: You are behaving weirdly.

Abhi: Is being happy weird?

Abhi asked pretending to be offended.

Pragya: No. But you won't behave like this unless you are up to something. I caught you tell me.

Abhi: Seriously, there is nothing other than the reason that I'm happy.

Abhi lied.

Pragya: Are you planning a surprise?

Abhi: Be patient my Love, you will know everything when it's time.

Abhi said and Pragya pouts.

Abhi: What?

Pragya: I hate suspense.

Abhi laughs and continues to eat, leaving Pragya in suspense.

Next Morning

Mini: Sleepyhead didi. Wake up.

Pragya stirs on the sleep, irritated.

Pragya: Don't disturb me Mini. I didn't sleep properly.

Mini: How will you sleep when you roam the entire night with your boyfriend.

Pragya jumps, getting up hearing Mini.

Pragya: How did you know about that?

Mini: It doesn't matter now. What matters now is ma and papa know about your love story.

Pragya's heart skipped a beat, hearing it.

Pragya: How?

Mini: Abhi is here along with his father, asking for your hands for marriage.

Pragya was startled, hearing it. It took her some time to process what is happening. Soon, her lips curved to a beautiful smile. Mini gave a weird look.

Mini: Why the hell are you smiling?

Pragya: This is his surprise.

Mini: What?

Pragya: Mini, he was serious when he proposed to me. He wants to marry me.

Pragya's eyes were filled with happy tears.

Mini: Don't worry. We can manage mama and papa. They will not scream at you. Please don't cry.

Mini said, panicked seeing Pragya crying. Pragya chuckled, wiping the tears.

Pragya: This is happy tears, my dear sister.

Pragya said, hugging Mini.

Mini: I don't understand your lover's at all.

Pragya: You will understand when you fall in love.

Pragya said, breaking the hug.

Mini: Will I?

Pragya: Of course you will.

Pragya said and Mini smiles.

Neil was drinking the coffee and Abhi was sitting nervously, looking at Ram and Priya's reaction keenly. Their reaction was unpredictable for him.

Neil: What are you saying?

Neil asked and Ram and Priya looked at each other.

Ram: Truth to be told, we were surprised as well as shocked, when you asked for Pragya's hands.

Neil: I can understand. Abhi loves Pragya and she also loves him. If you both are okay, we can proceed. You both can take your time.

Priya: Actually, we are very happy when you asked about it. We both like Abhi a lot. And we expected this little early.

Abhi and Neil were surprised.

Neil: Means?

Ram: We know about Abhi and Pragya.

Abhi was shocked, hearing it.

Priya: We notice Pragya sneaking out of the house at night times.

Priya said in a teasing look and Abhi blushed, hearing it.

Ram: We always thought of asking you about getting them married. We would gladly give Pragya's hands for Abhi.

Abhi's face breaks into a big smile, hearing it.

Pragya came down running. With hesitation, she came and stood beside Priya.

Priya: Naughty.

Pragya hung her head, with a sheepish look. Priya and Ram get up and stand in front of Pragya.

Priya: Do you wanna marry him?

Priya asked and Pragya nods her head like a good girl.

Priya: Okay. Marry him.

Pragya's lips curved to a big smile, hearing it. She gave a tight hug to her mother happily.

Pragya: Thank you so much ma. You are the best. I love you.

Ram: Don't you love me?

Pragya breaks the hug and hugged Ram, happily.

Pragya: Thank you so much.

Pragya said, breaking the hug.

Priya: Did you think that we would deny your happiness?

Ram: Your happiness matters a lot, Pragya. You are our world.

Pragya smiled with tears in her eyes.

Abhi and Neil smiled, seeing them.

Ram: I think we can discuss the arrangements.

Ram, Priya, and Neil got engrossed in their conversation. Pragya's grace turned towards Abhi, who was kept on staring at her. Without anyone's knowledge, Abhi gestured as tying mangalsuther and Pragya chucked, seeing it. With a blush, she nodded as yes.
