So, I know that was probably the weirdest thing, but I wanted to see where I could take a conversation between Rick and a desperate individual.

Personally, I'm glad with how it turned out. It was just a short story. What your character says is really what I've done, felt, and thought, and I wanted to address the issue because I really am aware of the fact that many others do the same thing.

And when I finished writing this, I realized that I could write about Rick addressing other issues. I know it seems like a silly thing to some, but it's really effective to receive helpful advice from a well-renowned character that many love and adore.
