16: Netflix

Keenan couldn't stop staring.

Here was the woman of his dreams, sitting on his couch, as if the last four months never happened.

But they did.

She forgot. She forgot him, Greenfield . . . the game.

An idea shot through his mind. Maybe this was a second chance!

Aurora hated him for what he put her through, he hated himself, but he could change that now. They could begin again, the way they were supposed to.

"So," he said, interrupting her focus on the show playing on the television. She looked at him, her bright blue eyes casting him to hell. He was at a lost of words. Whatever he was about to say, got lost in her blue eyes.

She smiled a wide smile, one that Keenan had only witnessed once. In that moment, with her eyes shining, and her dimples placed perfectly on her cheeks, her lips spread wide, and her tongue pressed against the back of her teeth, he fell in love with her all over again.

His soul was completley lost to hers.

Her silky voice, with a slight accent, slowly brought him back to the third demension.

"You like football," she asked, pointing to a framed picture of him and his friends, at the Alabama Crimson Tide vs Georgia Bulldogs game. Keenan was surrounded by his closest friends, Ajax, Aiden, Lee, Ivan, and Kasper. They all took two days off school to go see it.

It was tragically humorous to him now that he didn't talk to a single one of them any longer. The boys that were all wearing happy grins, were no longer in each other's lives.

After scrolling through facebook during late summer, he noticed that Ivan went back to Russia. Keenan never knew that was his plan, and he wasn't sure if he was coming back or not.

He wondered if Ajax and Luna were still together, or if Lee still hated him for making him lose Willow.

Aurora blocked his view of the picture that his Mom had hung up for him. She was standing in front of it, her head barely reaching it. Mrs. Lockhart was a tall woman. Gently she ran her fingers over the thin glass, looking at the Georgia Bulldogs jerseys.

"Georgia," she read.

Keenan's blood went ice cold. She didn't remember did she? He hoped not.

"Are you from there," she asked, her throat moving as she gulped. She still wouldn't look at him.

"Yeah," he whispered, afraid to break her.

"Did you like it?"

"I loved it," he said honestly. "It's my home."

She chuckled dryly, turning back around. "I've learned that home doesn't mean much. It's the people, the memories. If you don't have that, you have nothing."

"Where are you from," he asked, already knowing the question.

"Canada," she said with a mischevious smile. "I bet you never met one when you were in the south."

He laughed. "No," he said with a grin. "I didn't."

She turned her back to him once again, focusing on a picture of Keenan and his little sister. "Maybe you have and you didn't know it. I was there a couple months back."

Keenan didn't know what to say. He's only been with her for a couple hours; he hasn't thought about this topic being brought up.

Before he could sweat bullets, the situation was taken care of.

Aurora plopped down on the couch beside him, and grabbed the controller from between them. "You know what I haven't seen in a long time? Lost. Do you have it?"

"It's on Netflix," he whispered.

Four months ago they were talking about the ending of that show. Aurora hated it, as did most people. But she wouldn't remember that . . .

Keenan watched in silent torment as Aurora struggled to find Netflix. Clearly she hasn't used it much since the accident.

Eventually she figured it out, then laid back on the cusion next to his. He tried to keep his distance, but it was killing him.

Why was this happening to him?
