Dark Memories
Danielle gasped for air as she pulled her head out of the now warm water and touched the wall of the pool. She had just finished her fourth lap. Danielle turned to look behind her with a triumphant grin resting on her lips. Phyllis swim up beside her and rested on the wall as well, putting both her elbows on the ledge and laying her chin on her hands gently. Danielle and Phyllis panted hard for a few seconds
"Ha! I won!"
"Yeah, yeah, I saw. Next time you won't though." Phyllis laughed while grinning.
Danielle laughed with her and then pulled herself out of the pool. Phyllis stayed where she was and looked out at the gorgeous sunset. They always had a beautiful view from their back deck behind the mansion.
"Girls!" Mrs. Canter called as she pulled back the slim, pure glass, back door.
"Get dresses and help me make dinner, please." Mrs. Canter said while smiling fondly at her two beautiful daughters.
Phyllis looked up at Danielle and smiled
"Ok, momma" Danielle called back.
Phyllis went to pull herself out of the water when something stopped her. She looked up at Danielle with fear in her eyes. Something ripped Phyllis back into the water when she went to scream. The water engulfed her like a hungry monster. Danielle screamed repeatedly and went to dive into the water, but when she did, Phyllis was gone. She disappeared just as quick as the smile on her face.
Danielle awoke in a cold sweat. She sat up and rubbed her hands on her face as she frustratedly groaned. She had been having memories as dreams since Phyllis' kidnapping two weeks ago. Except the memories always turned into a horrible nightmare, always with her disappearing. Danielle laid back and rolled over into a better position. Phyllis' boyfriend, a close family friend, had been accused of kidnapping her. Danielle wanted someone to blame, but she knew that Henry could never and would never do such a thing. Henry loved Phyllis with everything he had, even if he didn't have as much as Phyllis did.
Danielle got out of bed and slowly walked to the bathroom. She turned on the faucet and let the water rise. Now leaning over the sink, she submerged her face in the ice cold liquid. Making her face freeze up as soon as she broke the surface. She stayed under for as long as she could and then calmly lifted her head, feeling the water drip off her nose. Danielle looked up at her reflection in the mirror, the bottom of her eyes were a deep blue and purple from the lack of sleep. "I'll find you, Phyllis. I promise." She whispered, almost to silent for herself to hear.
